How good is pick dodger vs human opponents? I've never really used it but it seems like it would suit him.
As pg always go with dimer. I don't know if its confirmed in 17, but in 16 the ball receiver got a shooting stat boost (AFAIK 10% when gold dimer).

As I asked if defensive stopper has really impact... I can say you see the animation breaking through the screen when having pick dodger. It's still a screen, but you get through faster

In general I never forget to look at the defensive stats when looking at a player. I usually go for player with good defensive stats, and if possible with good shot contest stats.
So I always added defensive stopper badge quite immediately at a player I'm using.

But, this year it feels like shot contest has no impact. Even with my players with 90+ shot contest, it feels like shot contest have no impact. And defensive stopper seems to have almost no impact.
Even though it shows up a lot on the right corner while defending.

Long story short, what do you think?
Is adding defensive stopper worth this year? Especially this year, while there are not many badges slots.

It's easily the best badge in the game. The shot contest thing will be fixed in patch 5. Right now everybody makes too many shots. Def. stopper negates most of the offensive badges and is a must-have on pretty much every card.

Patch 5? Haven't seen this... Is this confirmed? Where? When?

Main forums. It was going to be hotfixed after patch 4, but it's possible that it might corrupt MyCareer files, which they don't want to risk.

Hey what badges would you guys put on Kevin McHale. Already has HOF up and under, drop stepper and post spin. gold tireless, pick and pop/roller, and brick wall. I'm thinking hustle rebounder, defensive stopper and rim protector. What's good for the last 3 spots?

By the looks of it he can't dunk or shoot so that eliminates most of what's left. I'd definately give him Pick Pocket then maybe Dimer and Mid-Range Specialist? His mid-range is only 65 so I'm suprised he has pick and popper but the two badges go together pretty well.

I'll probably have to leave a few spot open incase they update this card. This should be his best card. Not sure what his midrange game was like but a 65? he has nice shot animation but them at rating is pretty low if it's based on his career there.

Hi Guys, I recently bought Ralph Sampson and looking for some suggestions.

He comes with Drop Stepper, Rim Protector and Brick Wall, Posterizer was already attached, so 3 empty slots to fill:

Defensive Stopper, Hustle Rebounder, Bruiser, Relentless Finisher, Putback King, Post Spin Tech, which would you choose ?

Defensive Stopper, Hustle Rebounder, and Put Back King would be my top 3.

anyone wanna talk about badging mistakes? My biggest regret right now is not giving J-Rich Defensive Stopper/Pick Pocket. He feels like a really fast pylon out there

With limited badge slots this year it is really tricky to get everything you want. On most of my players I had to make some sacrifices. My go to strategy is to badge according to players strengths and not try to badge to cover up weaknesses. For my go to scorers I am applying only offensive badges and for my lockdown defenders strictly defensive badges. I think it is working out so far. Last year everyone on my team had dimer + perineter/post lockdown defender; I don't have that luxury this year.

I think my biggest regret so far is adding limitless range/3pt deadeye to Tony Parker and not difficult shots. Even though he has good 3pt ratings I have been shooting terribly with him from beyond the arc. All of my points with him come from floaters and dribble pull up mid range. He is actually knocking down the majority of his moving shots. But like I said, badge to their strengths. If I had difficult shots on maybe I'd be hitting 7/10 moving midrange instead of 6/10.

Has someone already pointed out that Sapphire cards have 5 open spots and Ruby's only 4? That doesn't make any sense.

                            Re: Badging Thread

                            How about this...

                            Player: Rookie Emerald Penny Hardaway
Comes With: One Man Fast Break
                            Open Slots: 3

I'm thinking, even though just an Emerald, he's a unique and fun enough card to play with: 6'7" Point Gaurd with high Post Control. In relative terms, compared to his card last year, he is a little less "slow," and has a better 3-point shot. Good enough to play with, but not good enough to add really valuable badges, IMO.

So that solves the dilemma of whether or not to add Defensive Stopper, for me.

                            What I'm thinking is...

                            1. Dimer: Basically a must for a PG initiating offense. With Penny, I'd expect to drive and dish, or post-up and dish.

After that, I don't have must-haves, but a handful of wants...

                            2. Pick & Roll Maestro:
normally a must-have for a PG, but only 3 slots and unwillingness to put on expensive badges makes it hard to view anything as must-have. His Off-Dribble ratings are not great (76/75), so I don't think one wants to emphasize him shooting off a screen. And I don't think making better passes is quite worth the badge slot. But maybe a nice, cheap badging that will be fun if combined with...

                            3. Difficult Shots:
Make his off-screen shots moving shots like leaners, sidesteps, stepbacks and fadeaways and make these more viable. Or...

                            4. Mid-Range Deadeye

                            5. Post-Spin Technician: Kind of leaning toward this as I think I will most want to use him as a post-up guard, particularly at PG and particularly to beat up on opponents using Curry or Rewards Stevie Franchise at PG. I've found that ISO'ing a large guard on these smaller points, with a Stretch 5 to make all other teammates legit outside threats, is pretty much impossible to stop. Opponent has to either double and give up the open 3-pointer to a guy with at least a 70-something rating. Or he has to try to defend the big size mismatch.

To that end, and in general, these two are the other most-compelling options...

                            6. Posterizer

                            7. Acrobat

Probably Acrobat more so, as it helps with when one is making an off-balance layup. I'm guessing Posterizer doesn't really help one get the dunk animation, as opposed to completing a dunk animation against a shot contest/block attempt.

                            Summary:

Think maybe this makes the most sense...

                            1. Dimer
                            2. Pick & Roll Maestro
                            3. Post-Spin Technician

If coming off a screen, the P&R Maestro will give him a shooting bump, which basically gives you what you want out of Mid-Range Deadeye or a Difficult Shots, though limited to context of coming off a screen, but also adding the passing bump to a roll or fade man.

                            Thoughts?

Except against CPU, I don't try to pick steals aggressively, so wasted on me, particularly with Penny who doesn't have especially good Steal Rating.

But still listened to you and slapped on Dimer, P&R Maestro, and Post-Spin Technician. Only Dimer is moderately expensive...the other two are dirt-cheap. So is the Penny card itself. So if I really want, it's not a big deal to pick up another Penny and badge it up differently.

Played one MTO game with him. Versus a guy using Lowry and Calderon. Penny had as easy a time as one would expect, exploiting the size mismatch by ISO'ing and posting up.
