This is a must, leaning 3's the cheesiest thing 2k allowed ever, with that on gold with his already super fast leaning animation, green light about 85% of the time if you get some good space.

Oh, duh...yeah, then Difficult Shots makes even more sense. I keep forgetting that it's not just for midrange...

Posterizer - Rim Protector - Defensive Stopper - Limitless Range - Deep Range Deadeye - Lob City Finisher (or Hustle Rebounder)

I woulda given him the diamond jordans I gave to D-Rob too

Any advice on how to badge Dream Team Magic properly? I've added D-Stopper so far, was thinking about bruiser as well, I'm not really sure about the rest.

It is VERY strange that Ruby Towns has one badge slot LESS than Sapphire one.

He has 5 in total when 1 of them is already taken

almost any badge will work with Magic... don't sleep on Pick Pocket/Chase Down Artist... I know his stats look bad but Amythyst magic gets a ton of steals/blocks, he comes with everything he needs... god I'm droooling right now over those badges. I originally thought he'd just be a marginal upgrade, but those are 4 are probably my 4 favourite badges he has HOF.

I think all Rubies have 4 slots and all Sapphires have 5. One of those contradictory things, like Amethyst contracts, that seem to be mistakes 2K doesn't bother to fix.

Any thoughts on giving a guard/wing Rim Protector? I seem to get in a lot of animations where my defender makes contact with a player going in for a layup but the layup goes in anyway. I'm hoping that Rim Protector will lower the amount of times that those layups go in even if it doesn't lead to more blocks. Thoughts?

One of the thoughts I've had with the remaining empty slots I have for Magic (Amethyst) is to put on Rim Protector. Specifically to defend other Magics (or Oscards) in the post, but also because I think it will trigger with other close shots that a guard/wing might take, at the rim, after slashing/driving there.

I'm not sure exactly what sort of shot might get triggered. I imagine anything that is a standing layup/dunk or close jumpshot will trigger Rim Protectors. Maybe some layups as well.

Probably need to record video and test, but it's an expensive badge to slap on a guy just to test things out. I looked and it seems that the only PG/SG/SF with Rim Protector is Larry Nance.

Maybe I'll try a game with Rodman at SF and see if his Rim Protector gets triggered when defending stuff like driving layups.

Frankly, with Magic and Oscar in the game, I think it's a badge that could be beneficial to any PG with the room for it, in order to better deal with those guys (and Hardens) in the paint. I guess the same goes for Guards and Wings, especially now with the Amethyst Kobe and his Post-Fade.

I was thinking of putting it on Oscar. A lot of people use their PG to get to the rim and if this badge can stop them from scoring a couple of times a game it would be worth it. Maybe I'll just test it in 1 vs. 1 blacktop mode against the computer.

Oscar also comes with 18 badges so I feel like I can be creative in what to add to him.

                          Re: Badging Thread

In case you don't pay attention to the main forum, I posted this thread regarding Relentless Finisher, Acrobat, and Difficult Shots, and I think now I feel pretty confident about how these work, for the most part:

                          http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-shots-do.html

                          Difficult Shots

We know that this activates with stepbacks, spinning jumpers, leaners, sideways floaters and such.

The question I'd had all season was whether or not it helps with Post Fades, Post Stepbacks, and the Hop versions of those shots.

I did a "test" and it definitely activates for Hopping Post-Fadeaways, and Hopping Post Stepbacks. (And I think those are determined by Off-Dribble Mid, not Post-Fade rating.)

I never saw it activate with Post Fade or Post Stepbacks, though. So, insofar as it goes with big men, I think Difficult Shots is only worth using if they have high Off-Dribble Mid. Otherwise, you shouldn't be taking those shots anyway.

                          Relentless Finisher

Okay, so now I believe that it buffs completion rates (reduces nerf from contact, actually) with any contact finish in the paint, whether a dunk or a layup.

So this truly is a must-have badge for any player who will finish at the rim a lot, whether it's standing or driving dunks, or standing or driving layups. If they're often contested and get contact, it's worth it.

                          Acrobat

I think this will activate on any mid-air changed layup shot, and, it seems, also with eurosteps, spinning layups, and maybe also all contact layups. Need to do some testing and record video to be sure about all this, but is definitely a must for any slasher/driver sort of player, and possibly is a high-priority even for big men who will be taking standing layups with contact a lot.

I agree. With the Diamond Oscar, I don't think you even really have dilemmas on how to use the slots, do you?

Definitely worth Rim Protector, even if only to defend post-ups by Magics and Oscars. If it helps defend driving layups/dunks that's gravy.

Also can make further sense for an Oscar or Magic because one might use those guys out of the PG position to defend post-up guards like Kobes and MJ's.

                              Re: Badging Thread

Offballer4life's Stockton/Malone thread pushed me to play Malone more and P&R with him really is pretty great, even with a PG who "only" has Gold P&R Maestro. It's also fun to play with an 80s/90s legend.

So I'm looking to play him more, even if other options are more attractive for me. So, want to badge him up.

Player: Ruby Droppin' 50 Karl Malone

                              Comes With:
                              • Pick & Popper
                              • Tireless Scorer
                              • Drop-Stepper
                              • Pick & Roller (HoF)
                              • Putback King
                              • Hustle Rebounder

                              Open Badge Slots: 4

                              Badges to Add:
                              • Rim Protector: I already added this, but now sort of regret it.
                              • Brick Wall: Already added this. Don't regret it, as he's going to constantly be screener in P&R.
                              • 3.
                              • 4.

                              Possibilities:
                              1. Relentless Finisher: finishing dunks and layups off the roll, contested and with contact at rim.
                              2. Acrobat: maybe big deal if activates with contested/contact layups, and still at least moderate deal if I find he is reliable with alternate layups like eurosteps and spin layups (I think maybe not).
                              3. Mid-Range Deadeye: for when he's not totally open off Pick & Pop, or just as bail-out shooting option from midrange.
                              4. Post-Spin Technician: Has elite Post Control and Post Fade...Post-Spin always seems mandatory to round out post-up arsenal.
                              5. Dream-Like Up & Under: maybe even bigger deal than Post-Spin, given his elite Post-Fade. Dream-Like + Post-Fades is more than the sum of its parts, by making both "paths" so effective.

Everything that I NEED is covered but there are still some choices to make. He only has 6 empty badge slots. I'm deciding between:

                                Deep Range Deadeye
                                Post spin
                                Dream like up and under
                                Bruiser
                                Rim protector
                                Drop Stepper
                                Posterizer
                                Drop stepper
                                Defensive stopper
                                Corner specialist

I'll probably do 2 post related badges, defensive stopper, rim protector(assuming I can get it to trigger during a test against layups), and then decide 2 others. Maybe deep range deadeye and bruiser? Not real sure for those last 2.
