Re: Offical Demo Impressions
Don't know if anyone has noticed this but after you make a basket and don't move the left stick to control a player, the CPU takes control of him a la EA football games on the xbox.
This is a huge addition. Not only can you adjust strategies and subs while the CPU takes over, but you can pseudocoach this way and also take over when need be."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Re: Offical Demo Impressions
Very impressed so far with the demo.
Corner THREES are back! And you can actually make them this year....I've made two so far with Jwill and attempted a couple with Walker but missed.
Also really like the dribble and kick game, it's much improved over last year.
Some empty seats in the arena. I hope there is dynamic attendance this year. It looks like it is in the game. Hopefully VC didn't remove the fans leaving early in the 4th after blowouts. That combined with the spotty attendance during games would be great.
One quick question for Beluba. All teams seem to be set to the same 8 quick plays by default. Will the cpu AI run only the quick plays or will it use a variety of the playsets within their playbook?
Off to play some more!Comment

Re: Offical Demo Impressions
So I get a long rebound and I pushed the ball up the floor with Jason Terry. I throw a pass to the wing and I have Shaq trying to stay in front of Devin Harris. I make a hard move towards the baseline blowing by Shaq with him trailing hard Haslem comes up to cut off the baseline to help Shaq but he was a step too slow. I got up with one hand almost like I was gonna do a floater but Devin wanted a poster.... He dunks on Haslem KJ vs Hakeem style with Shaq right behind for what had to be the nastiest dunk ever
I officially quit I can no longer play this Demo for fear I may lose my mind waitingComment

Re: Offical Demo Impressions
The 8 plays in there by default are just for the user... the CPU isn't limited to them. Like last year, you can change those 8 plays in the UI if you want too. The CPU's playcalling is completely different this year. It's tendency-based now. Meaning, plays are called for players based on their strengths whereas last year they were randomly grabbed from the team playbook. To make a long story short, you shouldn't have to muck around with swapping team playbooks before you start games to get the right kinds of plays run for the players. Instead, just make sure everybody's tendencies are set properly and the system will take care of the rest.
small suggestion for maybe future development... INSIDE DRIVE 04, and maybe earlier versions, had the 4 default plays, but upon entering the playbook screen you could revert back to DEFAULT by pressing Y, which takes you to team default plays.
I know we could just edit the 8 plays per team for the user and save as a part of the roster file. but its a nice recommendation to see what the "CPU" considers default
---
Ive seen a nice DIVE animation to save a ball from going out of bounds only to get stolen by me and then a nice dunk. Glad to see those steal out of bounds are not automatically tied in with a player catching it... there is real ball physics at play here.
not sure if its a predetermined move, but it looked real nice.. JT trying to get a call on SHAQ.. I jumped way too early for the big block. lol

So what you mean is if the CPU subs out Dirk, they will not run the same play for the person in for him?? SWEET!!Comment

Usually I just wind up calling the plays that I can best follow in the play diagrams because they're the easiest for me to do. I also have to go back to those menus for a refresher on how the plays work. It would be a great addition to display the diagram on the court and see the players executing it - it would make a great learning experience too.
Congrats on this years effort. Nonething short of amazing"We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Thanks for the response Beluba.....
BTW, if the demo is any indication.... you guys NAILED the player foul system out of the box.
I mean over the back fouls, shooting fouls, reaching fouls, blocking fouls etc....are done extremely well in this demo. I can see you will really have to pick your spots in terms of when you want to be agressive to prevent foul trouble during games.
this is good stuff...Comment

Re: Offical Demo Impressions
Heh, it seems like NBA 2K7 has addressed the majority of issues I had mentioned about in my old post inside the College Hoops 2K7 Wishlist thread. Those guys at VC are really paying attention to what people have to say about their games. Nice job.
