Orlando has some really nice stuff, but I'm not running it right. My favorites are Bullish Backcourt, Zero In and PF Baseline 3. Would love to see a breakdown for the Magic and the Hornets.

Re: Official NBA 2K9 Playbook Thread
Thanks for the help. I have been playing with the Bulls but I've never really used plays. One thing I am having trouble with is starting the play. I know you can have the play art displayed on the floor during the games, but I prefer not to because it kinda looks unrealistic and elementary. My problem is if your point guard isn't at the EXACT spot on the floor, the play will not start. Isn't kind of hard to memorize the EXACT position you have to go to just to get the play started in the first place? Because I know that when I have play art displayed, the play will not start until Rose is positioned right on the circle. Isn't that hard to tell without play art on?
That's probably my main concern. I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to running plays. I am trying to get into them though. Right now I'm pretty much doing pick and roll and simple plays. Any other advice on running plays would be appreciated.
Now, in the Bulls offense I really like utilizing Tyrus' dunking. Running the play "SG-PF Two Man", Rose will pass to Kirk at the wing, and Tyrus will come up and set a screen for Kirk. Use the screen and direct an alley-oop towards Tyrus (make sure while you hold L for the alley opp that you also point the LS toward him) I expect a lot of oops from Tyrus this year.
^There is also the PG-PF pick and roll to go Rose to Tyrus.
Also, the SF Backdoor cut with Deng is very effective. Rose to Kirk to Deng backdoor; the D won't know what hit them.
Also, Bullish Backcourt works great getting Kirk an open look for a free-throw line jumper.

Re: Official NBA 2K9 Playbook Thread
Kruza,
I have a BIG discovery. Well apparently you can edit which playbook EACH team uses this year under Coach Profiles. And YES one of the playbooks you can assign to ANY and EACH team is STANDARD PLAYBOOK with practically EVERY play in the game.
So no longer will we NOT have plays for a PF Rashard Lewis because 2K forced us to pick plays from ORL's playbook.
I think this will change everything when it comes to assigning plays because you can use any play on the game.
Take that into considerationConcrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: Official NBA 2K9 Playbook Thread
Now for the Knicks. Starting lineup:
PG – Chris Duhon
SG – Jamal Crawford
SF – Danilo Gallinari
PF – Zach Randolph
C – Eddy Curry
Determining who starts at SF is a dead heat to me. Considering their ratings in various skills and abilities, Quentin Richardson and Danilo Gallinari is a toss-up and one could go either way and not look back with regret. As for me, I chose Gallinari because I think he complements the rest of the Knicks starters well with his shooting ability and the Knicks half-court offense would likely run better with him in the lineup over Q-Rich. On the flip side, Q-Rich’s athleticism is a little better (especially in speed & quickness) as far as guarding opposing SFs, but that doesn’t mean he’s that much better defensively over Gallinari – only marginally better. Another reason for my choice is that Q-Rich looks to be a better complement offensively to players who form a second unit like Nate Robertson, David Lee, etc. since he’s more capable of getting up and down the floor faster than Gallinari. Oh, and I can’t believe how much Eddy Curry sucks at defensive rebounding. It made me seriously consider bringing him off the bench for Lee solely because of that. But I couldn’t pull the trigger on that decision. So Curry remains as a starter. On to the plays:
Screen Low (Baseline 2 set)
This is a Post play for Big Ed. Duhon has the ball at the top of the key. Crawford stands on the right wing behind the arc, Gallinari stands on the left wing behind the arc, Randolph stands near the right baseline and Curry stands near the left baseline. Duhon passes the ball to Gallinari while Curry moves toward the basket. As Gallinari moves with the ball, Duhon goes down near the basket to set a screen for Curry and Curry goes around the screen to post up on the left block. Next, Randolph moves to set a screen near the right block area for Duhon, who moves along the baseline then turns up toward right wing. Now Gallinari feeds Curry the ball on the left block.
Motown Music (Flex 3 set)
The layout of this play is the same as what has been explained in the Clippers playbook. Duhon (Knicks PG) and Crawford (SG) are the main players involved who get the touches.
PF Low Post 2 (Flex 4 set)
The layout of this play is the same as what has been explained in the Jazz playbook. Duhon (Knicks PG) and Randolph (PF) are the main one involved in this Post play.
Zero In (Triangle 6 set)
The layout of this play is the same as what has been explained in the Clippers playbook. Duhon (Knicks PG), Crawford (SG), and Gallinari (SF) are the main players involved in running this play.
SF Pitch (Baseline 2 set)
The layout of this play is the same as what has been explained in the Hawks playbook. Duhon (Knicks PG), Gallinari (SF), Crawford (SG), and Curry (C) are all the players involved in running this play.
Double Cross 2 (1-4 High set)
The layout of this play is the same as what has been explained in the Mavericks playbook. Gallinari (Knicks SF), Randolph (PF) and Duhon (PG) are all the players involved in running this play.
SF Popout (Box set)
This is another play for Gallinari, but this one is interesting because this also has an alternative option for Big Ed. Duhon has the ball at the top of the key while Gallinari stands at the right baseline area, Big Ed stands on the right elbow and Randolph stands on the left elbow. Randolph goes over to set a screen for Duhon near top of the key. Meanwhile, Big Ed goes over to set a down screen for Gallinari. Duhon dribbles around Randolph’s screen to the left wing behind arc. Next, Gallinari comes off Curry’s screen to go to the right wing. Duhon passes the ball to Randolph, who then relays the ball to Gallinari. Gallinari then has the option to shoot on the catch, take his man one-on-one, or he can feed the ball to Curry for a post up opportunity since Big Ed is standing on the right block.
Guard Pick & Fade (Flex 3 set)
The layout of this play is similar to what has been explained in the Mavericks playbook. Duhon (Knicks PG) and Crawford (SG) are the main players involved in running this P&P play.

Re: Official NBA 2K9 Playbook Thread
Kruza, just one tiny issue. The Pistons have announce that they will start Amir Johnson at the PF and move Sheed to Center. How can we adjust the playbooks accordingly? Can the play assign fo Sheed at PF work for Amir? or should the plays be edited to adjust the change. Taking your advice. Thanks again.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K9 Playbook Thread
After looking through the Standard playbook, there are 33 plays listed in it which is similar to (or a few more than) the number of plays in most individual team playbooks. So I don't plan to do anything drastic or re-adjust anything at the moment.
However, I will look to re-evaluate plays for certain teams after significant trades involving key players have been made during the regular season.
