Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

After a dismal year for the T-Wolves I ended up with the first pick in the draft

I want to build around Wes and J-Flynn and turn Love into a Defender, I score more with Wes at the 2 so I decided to draft Harrison Barnes as my first pick

I was going to start the season with this roster

    PG Johnny Flynn 80 Ovr
    SG Wes Johnson 80 Ovr
    SF Harrison Barnes 73 Ovr
    PF Micheal Beasly 75 Ovr
    C Kevin Love 82 Ovr

But Beasly was so distruat that I had to Trade him

So I looked in Player Finder for a Young Shooter at the PF with good Defense and Andrea Bargani was the only option I had so I went for the trade

They took it straight up so I just moved on

Barg is an absolute beast and we had a really close game against the Thunder, I think we can finnaly breach the playoffs with this roster

Also The Knicks surprisingly actually got Carmelo and Brandon Jennings is still a free agent after 3 games or so

Joakim Noah's broken foot from the regular season kept him out of the 1st round for the Bulls.

About my series: Like I mentioned in my last update, I stole the first game @ Miami in dramatic fashion. Down by 1 with 4 seconds left, I hit the game winning 3 at the buzzer with Carmelo.

Game 2 Miami comes out and stomps all over me. It was really no contest right from the start.

Game 3 sent the series back to Cleveland and my home court. Shannon Brown and Carmelo both went off for 30 and outplayed Wade and LeBron. This was Wade's first game fully healthy after playing with a dislocated finger the first 2 games.

Game 4, 5 and 6 consisted of Miami destroying me. I guess after having a bit of a "feeling out game" with a healthy Wade back, they hit their stride in the last 3 games of the series. Their defense was very, very good and kept me from attacking the rim. Wade, James and Bosh both did their usual thing and scored each and every way on me. LeBron was the main catalyst and really attacked Carmelo, whose weak D didn't help much. My rookie PG Aaron Webber was pretty much a no-show for most of the series, living up to his last name.

Now I move on to the offseason. According to the Team Budget page, I have about $17 mil coming off the books assuming I don't sign anyone. Lamar Odom is the main piece of that, with him having an $8 mil player option I can choose to decline, which I probably will.

My goals in the offseason are to find a legit low-post scorer. I lacked that all season long and it really showed against Miami, since I couldn't take advantage of their weaknesses down low.

Also, I plan on making some upgrades defensively, mainly on the perimeter. The series vs the Heat showed I'm really lacking some stoppers on the perimeter that can help contain guys like Wade and LeBron.

Thanks for reading. I'll be updating after I finish the offseason.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

After watching the Knicks recently, I decided that I didn't really need a >7 foot center and that Amar'e was perfect at the center spot. So I traded Roy Hibbert (who was at center in my team) for Donatas Motiejūnas and their first round pick. The problem now is that I don't think he fits the style of my team. We're a very fast break, quick orientated team and well, he's a 7 footer and plays Power Forward. So now I'm looking for a smaller Power Forward (around 6'10) who can rebound fairly well, is pretty athletic, and suits my style of offense. Can anyone give me any suggestions? I've tried Derick Favours but they wanted my Harrison Barnes! (no way!).

This is the best part of turning a bad team around. To me, it's like playing for no reason, I miss 18 3 pointers and lose by 40 points, who cares?

traded arenas for lewis yesterday, and played a game against the bulls. It's actually a lot more enjoyable playing w/ lewis, because he gives me shooting, and isn't forced to play pf because of blatche. It also gives nick young, my favorite wizard, more minutes as a starter. I could just never get arenas's shot down, but i like lewis's a lot.

Rowe32 seems to have a solid draft class for the first year. I think he made a 2nd year class as well.

Speaking of draft classes, I can't get any of the 2K generated ones to give me any quality bigs. They're all un-athletic and are no good offensively.

Well of course they would want Harrison Barnes. They'd be giving up a very good developing guy. Go after realistic guys.

Here's a good one: Brandon Bass. Tough guy inside who I believe is 6'9. He rebounds well and has a solid mid range shot.

If you have PS3, DaRebirth has very solid draft classes.

I didn't want to start a thread about this but, I've got a question about 10 day contracts/MLE's that I was hoping someone can help me with.

In my Suns Association I'm a few games after the All Star break. I'm currently in 4th place in the West and Nash just went down for 1-2 weeks. I'm thinking about signing Rafer Alston to a 10 day contract but, when I started to do it a screen popped up saying that I would use my MLE. So does that mean that would use up my MLE on a 10 day contract and won't be able to sign anyone else in case of another injury?

If so, I guess it would be best just to sign him for the rest of the year but, I really don't need him once Nash returns so, I'm afraid that he start complaining about Playing Time and that will bring my teams Moral down.

Hmm, that's strange. I didn't think 10 day contracts ate into the MLE.

Maybe advance through and see what happens without saving?

The Nets are 3-1 to start off the 10-11 season. 3 out of the 4 games have been decided by 5 points or less. Those 3 games turned out to be the wins. The only loss so far came to the Mavs in which I lost by 8.

Carmelo Anthony is averaging 27, 7, and 5 for me.

                              Other stats:

                              Lopez - 17 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 bpg
                              Harris - 16 ppg, 3 rpg, 8 apg, 2 spg
                              Favors - 8 ppg and 11 rpg

Sasha Vujacic is starting to grow on me. Lol, I used to hate him as a Laker.

Chris Jennings amazes again for the Heat.

Something is happening down in Miami late in the season. It is March and Mike Miller is out again (3 times he has been on the injured list with a balky back). Eddie House has fallen out of favor with coach Spolstra So he decided to give un-drafted rookie Chris Jennings a look. The Heat had signed Jennings from their D-League affiliate after he had been tearing up the league averaging 28 points a game. Jennings a 6'6 SG out of St Johns was not thought of highly coming out of school. A kid who has a very nice outside stroke and a decent first step was an afterthought in the 2008 draft. His potential grade is a "F". He is a 60 overall rated player.

In his season debut vs the Spurs he had a magical 4th quarter and ended up scoring a team season high 53 points. Ok so maybe it was a fluke.

Enter Jennings in the second quarter vs the Oklahoma Thunder. The kid started hot again. and finished the first half with 23 points. Enter Jennings in the mid 3rd quarter...he came out for only 5 minutes after that as D-Wade played the second half at PG most of the remainder of the game.

Chris Jennings finished with 46 points in a come from behind win over the Thunder 103-99

This is a developing story as this kid is seriously on fire. He is just dropping shots like no bodies business. Dwayne Wade is all for Jennings getting more minutes. "If Chris can keep this up and stay focused he will help us to a title". "I have no problem playing point to make room for Chris". "As long as he plays like this I don't think anyone in this locker room cares about losing minutes".

Wade is probably talking about Mario Chalmers who has been playing very good giving some of his 30 minute average to Chris Jennings. He also is talking about James Jones giving up a handful of minutes as well. When Coach Spolstra was asked about what the rotation will look like after Mike Miller comes back he was very quick to say "just like it was before he went out". Mike has been very effective while healthy this season and not only brings the 3pt shot but rebounding, passing and defense. Those are areas that Chris Jennings needs to work on if he wants to stick. His defense is very suspect, and he is not a good passer at this stage.

It remains to be seen if this is just a few very hot games of a kid who is in the "zone" or the Heat just may have struck gold from the D-League.

It has been an amazing ride thus far for 2 games watching Chris Jennings just stroking the ball.

                                I am shocked.
