Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Kind of mad at what I have done at this point...2nd year pistons...barely looking the same IMO- at least for 2nd year...

Kemba at PG (Bynum role playing)
Gordon at SG (Bellinelli sixth man)
    Iggy at SF (Bellinelli/Jerebko)
Perry Jones at PF (Charlie V/Daye)
    Monroe at C (Charlie V)

Only have 6 Pistons from last year and most of them are on the bench, role playing. Most of them are in the 70s too...

And quite amazingly- Carmelo Anthony went to the Kings O.o.

      2nd Season - Bobcats

Failed to clinch a playoff spot in the 1st season, i had to change some things around. After some trades and a 9th place in the conference, i managed to get two 1st round picks - 2 and 8.
So my team looks great right now, i think we're ready to be a contender.

      S5
Goodwin (76) - A lot of potential; quick; great ball handling.

Wennington (84) - Wow, probably the next MJ or something. This guy can lay-up, dunk, shoot, dribble, so smooth...

Wallace (85) - Improved a bit since the 1st season, this guy is the captain, he's going nowhere. I almost sign Carmello in the off-season (still can't believe he accepted the offer) but i just can't let GW go.

      Oakley (79) 1st season game - 18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks. Beast!

Ming (84) Well, it's Yao Ming...

      BENCH
Livingston PG (what improvement, 60 to 66 now)

Henderson SG (67 overall to 71 now, very good coming from the bench)

Gomes SF (involved in a trade with the Clippers, he's alright. good 3 point shooter)

Blatche PF (the 6th man. not amazing, but gets the job done)

Curry and Kwame C (Curry has a very nice close up shot and Brown is a great rebounder, good for a more defensive strategy)

      1st Game- Portland 72 - 92 Charlotte
Man of the Match - Oakley

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a franchise with the 1996 draft team for fun. Played 1 game and made some changes. The starting lineup for my 1st game was

                Allen Iverson/Steve Nash/Stephon Marbury/Derek Fisher
                Kobe Bryant/Ray Allen
                Kerry Kittles/Peja Stojakovic
                Jermaine O'neal/Antoine Walker
                Marcus Camby/Zydrunas Ilgauskas/Erick Dampier

After the first game owning the Celtics, I decided to make some changes. I traded Allen Iverson, Peja Stojakovic, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Marcus Camby away for Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis, Danilo Galinari, Amare, and 3 '11 1st round draft picks. This was 2 different trades.

Now, my starting lineup looks like this

                PG: Steve Nash
                SG: Kobe Bryant
                SF: Kerry Kittles
                PF: Danilo Galinari
                C: Amare
                Chicago Bulls 1996
                Dallas Mavericks 2011
                Boston Celtics 1986
                2001 Lakers

In my fourth user game I played the Miami Heat. It was a great game each team pulling ahead then the other team fighting back. I ended up winning on some clutch shots to finally give me my first win in a game I've played. It was very fun and action packed.

                    Check out these highlights!

Taj Gibson with the two-handed jam!

Didn't know Daequan had this in him...

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I've finally found a franchise/association mode in which I enjoy playing on the court with the team and it is with the New Orleans Hornets.

I like the fact that they have a post game with West and Okafor, both of whom can score and they have a great sixth man in Jack. I'm also a huge fan of defence and they have that too with Ariza, Paul, Thornton and Okafor. Of course running plays with Paul adds to the excitement too.

Currently sitting 19-18 ( most games are lost by the odd 2 or 3 points ) and I've only simmed about six or seven, while currently on a three game winning streak just recently beating the Lakers 110-107. An awesome game it was too, Paul sunk four threes in a row to pull it back and then solid blocking by Okafor limited them ( he finished with seven blocks ). Up next I have an 18-17 Nuggets and then a hard game in the 30-9 Magic ( with the real life trade done at the beginning ).

Only made two trades and they were,

Hornets trade - Marco Belinelli, '12 1st round pick,
                      Clippers trade - '12 1st round pick.

Hornets trade - Willie Green, ( the guy was unhappy and making my team morale drop )
                      Timberwolves trade - Wayne Ellington.

We lead the NBA in Assists, Steals and least fouls commited. Here is the current team stats ( I play on 10 minute quarters while the league is on 12 ).

                      PG - Paul ( 24.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 10.0 APG, 2.3 SPG, .456 FG% )
                      SG - Thornton ( 16.6 PPG, 1.4 SPG, .481 FG%, .427 3P% )
                      SF - Ariza ( 11.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.2 SPG, .393 FG% )
                      PF - West ( 17.1 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.2 SPG, .521 FG% )
                      C - Okafor ( 11.0 PPG, 12.1 RPG, 2.2 BPG, .438% )

                      6 - Jack ( 10.6 PPG, 4.7 APG, .471 FG% )
                      7 - Ellington ( 3.4 PPG, .533 FG% )
                      8 - Smith ( 3.4 PPG, .508 FG% )
                      9 - Mensah-Bonsu ( 3.4 PPG, .508 FG% )
                      10 - Pondexter ( 2.8 PPG, .455 FG% )
                      11 - Banks ( 2.1 PPG, .439 FG% )
                      12 - Gray ( 1.1 PPG, 2.4 RPG .481 FG% )

Bar Jack I think my bench is a little thin in regard to someone who can come on if there is foul trouble and help with changing a game, especially a big man. Any suggestions on someone who could come in and be solid defensively while still producing about 7-10 points per game if required.

I have all this years draft picks and next years 2nd with the Clippers 1st. As I feel I won't be able to compete with the likes of the Lakers in the post season ( currently 2-0 in regular season against them ) due to their depth at every position and Okafor or West go down I'm screwed for the season. I was thinking someone like Ben Wallace as a back-up center as the Pistons are going nowhere fast and he would add a solid defensive presence in the post. For the PF slot I was thinking about either Jeff Green ( who is requesting a move ) or Darrell Arthur who could both fill the role when West retires ( I'll be re-signing him in the off-season ).

Absolutely play with it on. Part of the skill in managing your team is minutes, practice and making sure you do not over use your starters. Also it plays a role (at least I think) when a guy is coming off injury. You need to ease a guy back into the rotation otherwise he can reinjure himself.

I like it and find it makes you think things out, and monitor your players every day, every week and after back to backs or long road trips.

For a great realistic experience I reccommend it turned on.

Just made a deadline day 'blockbuster' trade if you will with the Lakers.

                          Hornets trade -

                          Quincy Pondexter,
                          Jarrett Jack,
                          Marcus Banks,
                          '11 1st round pick.

                          Lakers trade -

Ron Artest, ( Unhappy, morale was at 0 and requested a trade due to not getting more than 8 minutes per game )
Shannon Brown, ( Same as Artest, was not getting more than 12 minutes per game and the morale was at 0 )
Derek Fisher. ( With acquiring Jack the Lakers felt he wasn't needed )

A part of me feels like I may have screwed the Lakers but if both the two main players were not getting any playing time then I feel a little better because obviously it would only effect the odd 8-10 minutes a game in which the players I've given them can easily cover. Jack is an upgrade in the PG position, Pondexter is happy to sit behind Barnes and can still provide great off the bench while Banks provides a few minutes behind Bryant. The 1st round pick seals it so that if I did have any doubts about screwing them then they get an extra pick in the forthcoming draft. I won't need it because my team is set for one more year.

                          Line-up after trade;

                          PG - Paul/Fisher,
                          SG - Brown/Thornton(6th man)/Robinson,
                          SF - Ariza/Artest(6th man),
                          PF - West/Smith/Artest/Mensah-Bonsu,
                          C - Okafor/Smith/Gray/Mensah-Bonsu.

Added a little more depth albeit not in the post but Thornton coming off the bench provides more offence and with Artest and Ariza rotating it helps when facing certain defenders. Plus they both provide solid defence and good offence.

                          Thoughts?

Did you at least give them some lube? LOL Great deal for your team.

Nice trade, you've got a solid PG in Jack to run the triangle, got expiring contract for the off-season, and 1st round pick for future development.
Initially it looks like you got the bad end of the deal, but what i like about that trade is its justified by the developments in your association, morale etc, more people need to trade like this.

The Detroit Pistons needed to make a move. Rip Hamilton had become unsettled and management and coaches believed getting Ben Gordon into the starting lineup was essential. Hamilton's contract was also quite a burden on Detroit as they were seeking to be a big player in the Summer of 2011 free agent market.

Just days before the 2010-11 season was set to tip off, news leaked that a deal was imminent between the Pistons and Jazz and that big names were set to be moved. Pistons GM Joe Dumars confirmed the rumors at a press conference called just 2 days before Detroit's season opener in New Jersey.

                                Detroit Receives
                                • PF Paul Millsap
                                • SF Andrei Kirilenko
                                • 2011 2nd Round Pick

                                Utah Receives
                                • SG Richard Hamilton
                                • SF Tayshaun Prince
                                • SF Jonas Jerebko
                                • SG Terrico White

Kirilenko and Millsap immediately entered the starting lineup along with Stuckey, Gordon, and Ben Wallace. The move allowed Tracy McGrady and Charlie Villanueva to become "sixth men" and play anywhere between the 2 and 4 between the 2 of them. Bynum and Monroe are set to deputize at the 1 and 5 respectively. Limited minutes are also available for Jason Maxiell and Austin Daye. Also, by shedding Hamilton's contract and getting Andrei Kirilenko's expiring contract, Detroit will have a lot of financial freedom in the next offseason. Paul Millsap also has a very nice 2 year, 8 million dollar deal that we might look to extend based on performance / his demands.

                                2010-2011 Detroit Pistons
PG - Rodney Stuckey / Will Bynum
SG - Ben Gordon / Tracy McGrady / Stuckey
SF - Andrei Kirilenko / Charlie Villanueva / McGrady
PF - Paul Millsap / Villanueva / Maxiell
                                C - Ben Wallace / Greg Monroe

(Playing on 6 minute quarters, default sliders and pro difficulty (I'm new to NBA 2k so a lower difficulty is necessary until I get a better feel for the game)).

Lost my opener to the Nets 51-46. Devin Harris abused my team all game long, finishing 9-12 from the field, including 4-5 from 3 pts. Ben Gordon led my team with 16.

In a stunner, we won our home opener against Oklahoma City 44-42 (Truecast Simulation for this one). AK47 held Durant to 10 pts on 2-6 shooting from the field, while Gordon and Stuckey combined for 23 pts.

Detroit won a thriller in Chicago to go to 2-1. The Pistons led by 5 at the half, only to watch the Bulls score the first 10 points in the third. Trailing by 6 at the start of the 4th, Detroit went on a 13-2 run led by Rodney Stuckey, who finished with 17 pts. Trailing by 2 with 5 seconds left, Derrick Rose was fouled by Stuckey and sent to the line with a chance to tie. Much like the '08 NCAA title game, Rose couldn't come through at the stripe, making only 1 of 2 to cut it to 49-48. Stuckey was fouled on the inbounds, but he also only made 1 of 2. The Pistons held on to win 50-48 when Luol Deng's buzzer beater (and a good look from 3, too) clanked off the back iron. It's games like this that make me realize why everyone has been singing the praises of NBA 2k11. Such an exciting game that had each team going on big runs to seemingly take control of the game and a thrilling finish to boot. Just awesome.

2-1 Detroit welcomes 3-0 Boston to The Palace on Tuesday.
