Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I have a Hawks Association, still feeling it out. Just recently messing with the settings. Change to Real Player %, watched as Joe Johnson lost any ability to hit a 3, changed it back. Turned on Simulation Style, testing that out against the Hornets as we speak. Joe Johnson...still sucks. Jamal Crawford caught fire though.

I was just offered a crazy trade: Yao Ming and Lois Scola for Josh Smith and Joe Johnson. I didn't take it because I A) hate Yao, B) would be squeezing out Horford, and C) Wanted more than two aging guys for two young(er) studs. I wanted to see if I could squeeze Brooks/Lowry out of them, but my dislike of Yao kept me from doing it.

[MIN year 2/All-Star/82gm/10min] Beat OKC in a close one 101-96. Durant scored 33 and get this, was 13-57 from the field [1-25 from 3pt land] unbelievable. He wouldn't even let Westbrook get involved.

PG Flynn | Bledsoe | Lester Hudson [FA 58rtg]
      SG Ginobili | Nick Young
SF Wes Johnson | Donte Greene
PF Beasley | Amundson | Kevin Seraphin
      C Aaron Sharpe[rookie 72rtg] | Splitter | Hassan Whiteside

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

            Question:

Who here plays on Coach Mode and can actually win games by just calling plays, doing substitutions, and other coach duties while the game is in session?

In my experience trying coach mode, if I don't call plays my players act stupid and end up running low on the play clock to where they HAVE to shoot from beyond the arc. It's pretty ridiculous. Sometimes they play ok but most of the time they don't.

Also they seem to miss ALOT of shots. Even if I call plays, easy shots become bricks it seems. I've tried coach mode for the past 8 games and have lost every one, yes against weak teams as well.

My sliders and settings have NOT changed. But before while ONLY controlling the point guard position from player lock I was able to win atleast some games. Now not one.

Is coach mode completely broken or am I going through some bad luck games?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Was looking for a team to play and started up bulls a few days ago. Just to see hwo they are.

I noticed they needed a sg and sf badly.

The first season i simmed to see how far id go.

Boozer ended up getting injured on the 22nd game and was out till the next year. Near allstar break Noah got injured and was out as well till of season.

I did do one trade though since my big men were all gone.

Traded keith bogans, scalabrine , john lucas and 2nd pick for hasheem thabeet.

Ended up signing rafer alston for a 2 year contract and larry hughes to a 2 year as well.

To summarize it, I ended up having one of the worst records but i managed to land the 1st pick.

Traded away deng, noah rafer and korver next years 1st round, this years 2nd and next year 2nd.

I know its a bit extreme, but they seem to get injured a lot and im not a big fan of luol deng.

Traded with minny and 76ers. I ended up getting wesley johnson, luke ridnour cory brewer and evan turner.

I figured next to rose theyd flourish. Even without a decent big men. Currently developing hasheem thabeet.

Carlos boozer is now not injured, he is 29 now and from what i noticed this past 2 years he seems to get injured a lot. So i put him on the trading block and hawks offered Josh smith for Carlos boozer and larry hughes.

I took it because even though smith is smaller, he is 4 years younger and i believe he could thrive with young players core i have and hed fit in my run and gun atlethic system.

              ..

              FA

I signed derek fisher because the lakers waived him, Figured he could be a nice back up for rose. Also resigned kurt thomas and signed grant hill for minimum vet contract and signed michael finley

My roster looks like this now
pg - derrick rose, luke ridnour, derek fisher
sg - evan turner, cory brewer
sf - wesley johnson, grant hill, michael finley
pf -Josh smith, Taj gibson, Kurt thomas
C - Kurt anderson (1st pick 78 rating 6'11 center), Hasheem Thabeet and Omer asik.

i still got about 4 mill or so in mid level. Trying to figure out how i can tweak my roster for the better.

Simmed a week. Went 3-2 and they sent Cole down to the d-league.

                Played against the Pacers:

Harden was straight ballin' in the 1st:

but not so much in the 2nd:

However the Pacers only managed to score 14 points in the 2nd so I won anyway. Harden only finished with 29 points overall. All these games are going the same way. Close in 3 quaters and blow out in one. Except the Celts and Bucks games.

Just finished my pre season and after being offered rookies and trading them for decent forwards that i needed i was left with 9 definite guys playing and 5 expired contracts. I resigned rodney stuckey,Hedo and jeff green and tried to resign nenad but he rejected it so i went into the FA with 12 guys and only 1 centre i didnt hav much cap space so i decided to buy some role players and then trade find them for some other guys. With 1 day to go till my second season i have 3 centres(shaq,( very cheap and a post player and rebounder) aldrich (young guy who is very good off bench) and joel anthony(decent back up for the other 2) i also have 3 good point guards in (westbrook, stuckey and house) and my forwards hav good balance and depth ill repost my full squad later.

so my squad for my second season is
                    PG.Westbrook/Stuckey/House
                    SG.Stuckey/A Parker/Stevenson
                    SF.Durant/Turkoglu/Moon
                    PF.Green/Ibaka/Murphy
                    C.Shaq/Aldrich/Anthony

Currently 1-1 both games against warroirs who have gr8 team this year (curry, ellis, chandler, landry, oden and 2 really good rookies)
blew them out 1st game and they beat me 110:120 in the second

House and Hedo injured atm so struggling to keep westbrook and stuckey at thier best wen thier playing lots of minutes as starters

Well, finished my first season as the Mavericks. Playing on Pro with sliders on this forum. I play 1 game and then simulate with hoopcast the next game. I barely squeezed into the playoffs with the 8th seed. Got knocked out in 6 games to the eventual Western Conf Champs, the Thunder. Thunder lost to the Heat in 6 in the finals. My problem is Dirk cannot stay healthy, He is hurt all the time. In the playoffs I was without Dirk, and Terry. How awesome is the White House visit, nice touch.

29 game Association: Default All-Star Sliders. 6 minute quarters.

FIRST ROUND - 2011 NBA PLAYOFFS

                        Eastern Conference
                        (1) Detroit (Me) defeats (8) Milwaukee 4-0
                        (4) Boston defeats (5) Cleveland 4-0
                        (3) Chicago defeats (6) Atlanta 4-1
                        (7) Orlando defeats (2) Miami 4-3

                        Western Conference
                        (1) L.A. Lakers defeat (8) Golden State 4-3
                        (4) Denver defeats (5) Houston 4-0
                        (6) Memphis defeats (3) Dallas 4-0
                        (2) San Antonio defeats (7) New Orleans 4-2

                        Other Series Notes
The Lakers nearly blew a 3-1 lead against Golden State, surviving Game 7 by a narrow 3 points. San Antonio beat New Orleans in a series in which the home team won every single game until Game 6. Dallas forgot to show up against Memphis and Carmelo dominated for Denver.

In the East, the Cavs were no match for the Celts, while the Bulls gave the Hawks a charity win in front of the Atlanta faithful before closing out the series at the United Center in Game 5. As for the all-Florida clash, what a series! Miami took Game 1 in dominating fashion, before Orlando stormed back and took Games 2, 3, and 4, two of which were overtime victories. Miami responded by blowing out the Magic in Game 5 and then stealing Game 6 in Orlando by outscoring the Magic 22-9 in the 4th. Orlando would win a classic Game 7, overturning a 9 point halftime deficit to win by 5 and stun the Heat in Miami. The Heat had no answer for Dwight Howard.

                        My Series

                        Milwaukee: 33
                        @ Detroit: 51

                        Milwaukee: 45
                        @ Detroit: 56

                        Detroit: 60
                        @ Milwaukee: 40

                        Detroit: 69
                        @ Milwaukee: 30

I didn't think my series against Milwaukee would be as easy as it was...as I didn't realize Brandon Jennings was out with a torn MCL and they'd be playing Earl Boykins at PG for every single minute of the series until I saw the lineups before Game 1. Steve Nash v. Earl Boykins? This series was only ever going to end one way.

Detroit won both home games comfortably before the series shifted to Milwaukee. The Bucks kept Game 3 close, only trailing by 2 entering the 4th quarter. But, Steve Nash and Ben Gordon sparked a 16-2 run to open the 4th that put the game, and series, out of reach. Game 4 wasn't even competitive.

In Game 4, Eric Maynor's 65 foot heave at the end of the 3rd quarter miraculously went in...giving Detroit a 55-22 lead (Thanks, game. Of all the times I've tried to make a ridiculous 3/4 court shot, you give me one when I have a 30 point lead?!). The Bucks missing Jennings was never more apparent than Game 4 when Earl Boykins threw up a historic 0-16 performance, including having 7 of his shots blocked (It appeared like they were running the offense as if Jennings were in...he clearly wasn't). The Pistons won Game 4 69-30 and the series four games to none.

But, after having the same starting lineup in all 29 regular season games, the Pistons were harshly bitten by the injury bug. We lost Tayshaun Prince to a high ankle sprain in Game 2 that will sideline him probably for the entirety of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Worst of all, the injury was suffered by Prince while trying to grab a rebound that ended up being called out of bounds because it went over the backboard. Also, Ben Gordon hurt his lower back in the 4th quarter of Detroit's Game 3 victory. He is able to play hurt, but his effectiveness will be sorely put to the test, especially while trying to chase Ray Allen around.

I'm going to try and get away with a starting 5 of Steve Nash / T-Mac / Austin Daye / K-Mart / Jason Thompson for Games 1 and 2 and hope I can get Ben Gordon back to health for Game 3. The Prince injury is far more devastating for a series against a team like Boston, though, as I could stick Prince on Pierce and not really have to worry about PP killing my team too much. Honestly, I'm having a hard time gauging my team's chance of success in this series. We blew Boston out in Boston earlier this year, but that was with a full strength team and KG and Ray Allen having a very off night. Austin Daye is a better shooter than Tayshaun Prince, so he's going to have to hit the open jumpers that Nash is able to create for him. The shooting abilities of Tracy McGrady aren't anywhere near those of Ben Gordon, though, at least in terms of the offense I run. We're going to have to try to get him the ball in the post and use his size against Ray Allen, or maybe against Rondo if the Celtics get caught switching. (Speaking of switches, there were a couple moments in the Milwaukee series when Earl Boykins was defending Greg Monroe in the post. This. Was. Awesome!)

This Detroit team has been playing inspired team basketball since Steve Nash arrived in pre-season. Team Chemistry is at 100% and this team is willing to do whatever it takes to win. It doesn't matter who gets the points, who takes the shots, or who gets the headlines. Detroit should be able to get a split without Ben Gordon, maybe steal a game 3 or 4 in Boston, and then hold serve at home. Pick: Detroit in 7

                              SG - V. Carter / M. Pietrus
                              SF - J. Dudley / T. Honeycutt
                              PF - R. Lewis / T. Tompkins / H. Warrick
                              C - R. Lopez / M. Gortat / C. Frye

I decided to give Nash and VC one more shot in Phoenix. Unfortunately, the two of them makeup the oldest back court in the league so durability may be an issue. Since I resigned those two and signed my two 1st Round Draft choices I didn't have a ton of money to spend on FA's. However, we were able to sign Rashard Lewis to a 480k deal (with a player option for next season) since he was waived by Washington. I

Overall, I'm not too happy with my lineup but, I think we should be Okay. Grant Hill was our biggest loss and I believe that Lewis can come in and fill the role that Hill played last year. Plus, Lewis adds size and versatility to the lineup. We can always move him to SF against bigger lineups
Seems ok. Rookies seem solid, and getting Lewis at that price is a nice bonus - he can definitely fill for Hill. Who is the first guy off your bench? Can Honeycutt play the 2?

Philly got screwed in the lottery...

And damn, look at Sacramento's offseason! Scared of what they can do in the West this year? Randolph, Melo, Tyreke, Cousins...

Dragic is going to be my 6th man. He'll get a few more minutes than last year, since Nash is older. Plus, he'll play the 2 was well. I actually really like using Dragic and Nash in the same back court.

As far as Honeycutt, he's 6'8 and is listed as a SF/SG so he will definitely see some time at the 2. I used him some in workouts and he shoots the ball well. I just hope he has the speed and quickness to deal with some of the smaller SG's. I'll have a better feel for him once I get a few games under his belt.

                                No doubt.

I'm scared of any team that has a 1-2 punch like Carmelo and Tyreke. Add to that the other guys you mentioned and I know they're going to be tough. I'll find out sooner than later because I play them the second game of the season.
