Your backup c's name is "Kostas", it's greek.
Your team is too young, there is nothing you can do now but wait for them to blossom.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I just started my 2nd season with the Wizards and my record for my 1st season was 10-19. I ended up getting 4th pick in the draft and ended up taking the talented power forward Perry Jones.

I got rid of some big contracts during the year such as trading away Kirk Hinrich, Javalle McGee and Rashard Lewis. I was able to have enough cap to give a contract to Carmelo Anthony in the offseason as he had a player option with the Nuggets but he declined. I believe I gave him 4 years $57 million.

      Season Two lineup
      PG: John Wall, Lester Hudson
SG: Nick Young, Josh Howard, Cartier Martin
SF: Carmelo Anthony, Lazar Hayward, Trevor Booker
PF: Andray Blatche, Perry Jones, Kevin Seraphin
C: Roy Hibbert, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Hamady Ndiaye

Players I moved out: Kirk Hinrich, Rashard Lewis, Javale McGee, Yi Jianlian, Al Thornton

BOLD indicates my draft pick. He's rated 74 out of the draft and his potential is A-.

Having Melo on the Wizards roster is bit unrealistic but I saw the chance to get him so I took it. I had the cap room from moving my big contracts out during season one.

Hey, if you got him without cheating it's realistic (for a 2k11 association)! Be prepared though, he'll most likely leave after this contract.
Your line-up is appealing but who's going to defend? You're like DEN or PHO (irl). I hope it works out!!
My only issues is Howard as SG and Booker-T as SF.

Thats exactly my problem. Depth. I have mediocre players on the bench so thats something I need to work on through trades this year (season two). The only position that I'm really excited about is Power Forward because of Perry Jones. I really need to work on obtaining another strong Point Guard to act as a coach extension on the court while Wall is on the bench resting.

I'm at work right now and I will check when I get home but I believe that was the contract, not 100%.

IRL he's had two of the best games of his career in his last two games. A 37 pt game against Courtney Lee and the Rockets and 27 against Boston.
Yea I really did like him, and I really loved his length as a defender, but in the games I have played with him so far, I wanted a defender who had a little bit more quickness. As far as the trade, the rockets get a potentiallY good player, and I had 4 second round picks, so they were somewhat expendable. I think I'll still be able to package them with Ilyasova for a veteran, since he is not really happy, even though I use him as a co-sixth man.

Damn, I knew I misspelled it. He was a pretty good center in college. And hea they are very young, but Im really excited for the future. I'm hoping to grab the 8th or 7th seed on raw talent alone.

But I am kind of upset with myself, as my draft dealings don't seem like they would actually happen

2011 NBA Playoffs - Conference Semifinals

                  East
                  (1) Detroit (Me) defeats (4) Boston 4-0
                  (7) Orlando defeats (3) Chicago 4-3

                  West
                  (1) L.A. Lakers defeat (4) Denver 4-1
                  (6) Memphis defeats (2) San Antonio 4-1

                  Other Series Notes
Neither Western Conference series was too competitive. Memphis lost game 1 at San Antonio and then won the next 4 by at least 5 points. L.A. fell asleep in Game 2, but then stole games 3 and 4 by two points each before closing it out at home in Game 5 in a big way.

Orlando, for the second straight round, stormed out to a 3-1 lead, got blown out in games 5 and 6, and then won Game 7 on the road. They're definitely playing like they should have all year, not like the 7 seed they ended up getting.

My Series: Detroit Sweeps Aside Celtics

                  Game 1
                  Boston: 44
                  @ Detroit: 58

                  Game 2
                  Boston: 52
                  @ Detroit: 67

                  Game 3
                  Detroit: 51
                  @ Boston: 49

                  Game 4
                  Detroit: 52
                  @ Boston: 48

For the second straight series, Detroit got a HUGE break in the injury department. Kevin Garnett played through a calf injury for the entire series and his overall rating was severely affected. He was something like a 65 rating, definitely making him very un KG-like for the whole series. While Detroit didn't have Tayshaun Prince, Ben Gordon had completely recovered from his lower back strain before Game 2.

Games 1 and 2 weren't very competitive, as Detroit shot about 60% from the field in each game, while Boston was only getting offense from Pierce and Allen. Steve Nash had 20 and 6 in game 1 before really turning it on it Game 2 with a 19 and 12 performance. Ben Gordon's return from injury in Game 2 was phenomenal, as he scored 19 points on 9 of 16 shooting.

Between Games 2 and 3, I realized my sliders weren't on the "Simulation" setting, so I changed that and made sure to save my Association this time.

The Celtics came out hot in front of their home fans, running out to a 14-4 lead in Game 3 while the Pistons looked lost. Detroit scratched and clawed their way back into the game, though, trailing only by 6 at half. Allen (19), Pierce (11), and Rondo (11) combined for 39 of Boston's 49 points and game the C's a 6 point lead entering the 4th quarter. The Celtics looked primed to make this a series after all.

Detroit stepped up in the 4th quarter, though, led by a very balanced attack. The Pistons pulled ahead by 2 with a minute left before Ray Allen nailed a ridiculous 20 footer to tie the game at 47. Nash turned the ball over on Detroit's next possession and Rajon Rondo made him pay at the other end, nailing a floater in the lane to give the Celtics a 49-47 lead with 31 seconds left. Jason Thompson would answer with a thunderous dunk to tie the game with 14 seconds remaining after getting a beautiful pass from Nash on a pick and roll. The Celtics called their last timeout to set up the final shot.

Boston wouldn't milk the clock down to 0, though, as Ray Allen pulled up from 19 feet with 9 seconds left after getting by Gordon. Somehow, the shot hit the back of the iron. K-Mart grabbed the board and Detroit called timeout with 6.3 seconds left. The inbounds play was an iso for Steve Nash. Taking a page out of Paul Pierce's playbook, he dribbled to the elbow on the nearside of the court, stepped back, and drilled the dagger over Rondo with 0.3 seconds left. Without any timeouts left, all Boston could was inbound the ball and hear the final horn. The Pistons outscored the Celtics 16-8 in the final quarter and escaped with a win they had no business getting.

In Game 4, the Celtics put up a fight in what was an incredibly tight game. No team led by more than 4 the entire game. It was tied at the end of 1, and Boston held a narrow 2 point lead at half and after the third. Once again, though, Detroit made just enough plays in the 4th quarter. Steve Nash was cool as ice in the final minute, nailing 4 free throws, the last two of which were with 5 seconds remaining, putting Detroit up 4 and clinching the series.

Kevin Garnett's limited mobility was glaringly obvious, and it would have been a completely different series if he were healthy. Martin, Monroe, and Thompson all had far better looks in the post due to his injury, and the Celtics will have to wonder yet again what could have been if not for the injury to their vocal leader. For Detroit, though, it was eight straight wins and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Magic.

2011 NBA Playoffs - Conference Finals

                  East
                  (1) Detroit vs. (7) Orlando
                  Series currently tied 2-2

                  West
                  (1) L.A. Lakers defeat (6) Memphis 4-1

The Lakers are already resting at home and will either open the NBA finals at home against Orlando or at Detroit after skating by Memphis with relative ease to claim their fourth consecutive Western Conference Championship.

Eastern Conference Finals: Currently Tied 2-2

                  Game 1:
                  Orlando: 58
                  @ Detroit: 49

The time off between series was too much for Detroit apparently, as the Magic came out hot, rolled out to an 18-8 lead, and never trailed. Detroit welcomed back Tayshaun Prince after missing the entire Celtics series with a high ankle sprain and he played well with 10 points on 5 for 8 shooting, but Steve Nash's nightmare shooting day (3 for 14, 0 for 5 from deep) doomed the Pistons. Gilbert Arenas's 19 points led the way for Orlando.

                  Game 2:
                  Orlando: 44
                  @ Detroit: 46

The Pistons trailed by three entering the fourth and were in grave danger of falling behind 0-2 on their home court. Gilbert Arenas was unstoppable yet again, scoring 18 on 7 for 13 shooting. Jason Thompson and Steve Nash led a Detroit fightback in the 4th, though, and gave Detroit a 2 point lead and the ball with 40 seconds remaining. Steve Nash nailed a massive 18 footer as the shot clock expired with 15 seconds left to put Detroit up 44-40. Orlando got a quick bucket from Richardson to cut it to 44-42, but Nash calmly sank two free throws to make it 46-42 with 4 seconds left. Then, in a moment of complete stupidity, Nash fouled Nelson on an attempted three with 2 seconds left. Thankfully, the shot didn't go in, but Nelson went to the line for three. He sank the first two, but clanked the third. The Pistons grabbed the rebound and the last 2 seconds ticked off the clock, tying the series at one game a piece.

                  Game 3:
                  Detroit: 48
                  @ Orlando: 54

Detroit raced out to a 14-3 lead, but this game was defined by a 25-4 Orlando run that saw them turn a 21-15 second quarter deficit into a 40-25 third quarter lead. Detroit missed open shot after open shot, turned the ball over, and were generally lazy getting back on transition defense during the spell. Detroit cut the lead to three points at one point in the fourth quarter, but the Magic made enough plays to hang on for the six point win. Detroit only got three points from its usually strong bench and Orlando muscled their way to 9 offensive boards.

                  Game 4:
                  Detroit: 54
                  @ Orlando: 40

A statement game for the Pistons in a must win. Ben Gordon was absolutely feeling it and he led the Pistons to a 29-19 halftime lead. The lead would never get smaller than 7 in the second half and Detroit cruised to tie the series at two games a piece. Gordon finished with 17 points on 7 of 10 shooting (3 for 5 beyond the arc) and Steve Nash had a stat-sheet-filling 6 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists.

The series now become a best-of-three with Game 5 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Both teams are completely healthy (knock on wood) and have been bringing it to each other through the first four games. Detroit can't count on winning a Game 7 at home, either, as Orlando has already won road Game 7's at Miami and Chicago this postseason to get where they are. Detroit, though, much like Orlando, has closed out both of their series on the road so far, so taking Game 5 and Game 6 is certainly possible. This series is shaping up to be a classic.

Great update, Arsenologist! Seems like Steve Nash's veteran leadership and clutch play is really helping get you through a great playoff run (even if he struggled in game 1). Thompson seems to be putting in great work for you, too. You're healthy at the right time, maybe you can make the Magic look like that they 7 seed they ended up with!

I just got blown out by the Thunder, Durant was unstoppable, Johnson couldn't hit a shot. Johnson is pretty awful in Simulation sliders, can't hit a three. I'm honestly thinking about trading his massive contract, starting Jamal Crawford, and open up space for a FA next year.

Simmed another week to go 3-1.
                        Played against the Knicks:

                        1st didn't go so well:

JJ and Jeremy sorted it out in the 2nd quater all by themselves and I won.
Ibaka was player of the game with 18 pts,14 reb and a block.

I also noticed how many J's are on the team:

Thought I'd share my revamped Nets team with you guys:

Simmed the first year and won 27 games, which was to be expected. Definitely a nice improvement over last year. Lebron won the MVP and the Celtics beat the Nuggets in 6 games to win the Championship.

I got the 3rd pick in the draft and chose Terrence Jones out of Kentucky. SF, will be starting right away for me. He has great shooting ability and was compared to Lebron so.

My team looks like this now:

PG Michael Conley (dealt Devin Harris in a deal to the Grizzlies for him.. he was 4th in the league in Assists Year 1)
SG Tracy McGrady/JJ Reddick (traded for Reddick first year, kind of a mistake, but I liked him so whatever.) SG is by far my weakest spot as McGrady is only a 71, but hopefully he holds it down while my youth SG develops.
                          SF Terrence Jones/Travis Outlaw
PF Derrick Favors/Kris Humphries (kept him around, he plays well)
                          C Brook Lopez

I have great youth and talent, so hopefully things work out nicely in 2-3 years.

We're 1-0 this year with a 95-77 victory over a bad 76ers team in our first game.

Finally got things rolling in New York, after making a trade for Melo we went 1-5 and now have a 8 game win streak before the all-star break, Tony Douglas has been starting at shooting guard and gives us the big 3 shooter we lacked.

2011 NBA Playoffs: Pistons Advance to First Finals Since 2005

                                (1) Detroit defeats (7) Orlando 4-2

                                Game 5
                                Orlando: 37
                                @ Detroit: 54

                                - The Pistons, having lost home court advantage in Game 1, were not about to let Orlando take it back. The Pistons stormed out to an 18-11 lead in the first, led by 8 at the half, and took a comfortable 15 point lead into the fourth. Steve Nash led the way with 11 points and 6 assists and the Pistons got a solid contribution from their starting bigs as Kenyon Martin and Jason Thompson each contributed 9 points and 7 boards. Orlando's starting backcourt of Gilbert Arenas and Jason Richardson combined for 23 points, but did so on 9 of 28 shooting, including a 2 for 13 mark from deep. Dwight Howard was a non-factor, getting only 4 points.

                                Game 6
                                Detroit: 54
                                @ Orlando: 39

                                - For the third consecutive series, Detroit closed out an opponent on the road, this time using a run spanning the end of the second and beginning of the third quarter to build a cushion. Leading 42-29, Detroit allowed Orlando to score the next 10 points to cut the gap to three. The Pistons would score the game's last 12 points, though, and wrap up their third Eastern Conference Championship since 2004. Steve Nash had 10 points and 12 assists and Ben Gordon cashed in on the open looks created by Nash to pour in 17 points. Greg Monroe contributed 10 points in only 9 minutes. No Orlando player scored double figures. It was a disappointing end to the series for the Magic who looked to be in firm control following Game 3. In the end, the grueling 7 game series they played against Miami and Chicago proved too much. Quentin Richardson and Brandon Bass both suffered injuries the last 2 games that significantly limited Orlando's depth.

                                2011 NBA Finals

Detroit Pistons (22-7) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (21-8)

                                - The Pistons have home court advantage by the narrowest of margins. In the only meeting between these teams during the regular season, Steve Nash buried a three pointer as time expired to give Detroit a 55-53 win in a mid-February game at The Palace. This single shot changed the entire face of the NBA playoffs. First of all, it gives Detroit home court in this series, because if that shot doesn't drop, the records for these two teams are switched. Secondly, Detroit finished a game ahead of Miami. The Heat would have been tied with Detroit at 21-8 and won the head-to-head tie-breaker, giving them the #1 seed out East. Who knows if Detroit would have been able to get this far playing a likely Orlando, Chicago, Miami trifecta? Let's just say the Pistons are glad that shot went in.

The obvious stars in this series are Steve Nash of the Pistons, playing in his first NBA Finals, and Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, playing in his eighth NBA Finals and looking to equal Michael Jordan's six NBA Championships. Obviously, these two stars will not be matched up with each other. Steve Blake and Shannon Brown will be tasked with trying to slow down Nash, while Kobe will be shadowed by Tayshaun Prince primarily, much like the 2004 NBA Finals. The Pistons are expected to use a similar strategy to that employed in the '04 Finals, let Bryant get his while limiting the supporting cast. Of course, that means Jason Thompson, Kenyon Martin, and Greg Monroe will have to deal with the Laker frontcourt of Bynum, Gasol, and Odom.

Detroit's best chance for success comes from Nash's ability to create off the dribble and find teammates for open jumpers / easy lay-ins. Whoever the Lakers put on Nash, it's imperative they contain Nash and don't let them get behind them. If the L.A. frontcourt has to break their man-assignment to help on Nash, it'll be too late and you can count on Nash finding the open man. If Blake or Brown are too far off, Nash will not hesitate to pull up from 18-20 feet and knock down jumpers all game long.

The Lakers are the better team on paper, but the advantage at Point Guard for Detroit is so significant, that it permeates to the other parts of the floor. If Detroit is hitting the open jumpers, they'll win the series. If the Lakers are able to get significant contributions from Gasol or Bynum and limit the effectiveness of Detroit's dynamic backcourt, they'll roll right over the Pistons.

Prediction: This series unfolds much like the 2008 NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers. Detroit takes the first two games at home, the Lakers come back home and take Game 3 before the Pistons steal Game 4. L.A. keeps the series alive with a Game 5 win, but it only delays the inevitable as the Pistons come home and wrap up their fourth NBA Championship in front of their home fans. Pistons in 6.
