Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I started an association with the plan of rolling over my entire roster into drafted players. I took 2 first rounders from each of the 3 nbadraft.net classes and took some from an auto-generated class as well. I edited Kemba Walker's potential to 90. Not a very realistic approach but it ended up with a pretty fun team.

My team ended up looking like this:

    PG: Kemba Walker 88 / Igor Postnov 74 (auto-generated)

SG: Bradley Beal 75 / Evan Fournier 67 (auto)

SF: Adonis Thomas 88 / Harrison Barnes 86 (starts as SG)

PF: Irvin Bishop 75 (auto) / Herbert Patrick 55 (auto)

C: Andre Drummond 89 / Isaiah Austin 85 (stats at PF) / Wesley McMillan 64 (auto) / Pete Bridges 55 (auto)

The team is definitely stacked with 5 all-star quality players but doesn't have any superstars so I don't feel it's too crazy.

It's awesome having 2 7-footers playing the 4 & 5. Austin has range out to the 3 point line but doesn't have the post up game of Drummond.

Drummond is probably by favorite player. I've never seen him play but I already can't wait to see him in the NCAA in 2 years. I hope he goes to UCONN which seems to be the favorite to land him. I wouldn't call myself a UCONN fan but they're a local team so I do root for them when they're on.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Decided to try and rebuild the Kings and build a team around Evans and Cousins. Simmed the first year The only trade I made was I sent Omar Cassipi (spelling) and Whiteside to the Pistons for Rip Hamilton and their first round pick. Only did this to get a 1st round pick which is a top 10 pick sort of like what the Cavs did this year.

I didn't re-sign any of my players that were free agents. I wanted to free up a lot of cap room. Going into the draft my biggest needs were PG and SF so I was hoping to snag both of those needs in the draft. Went into the lottery having the 6th and 9th pick and got the 1st and 7th picks in the 1st round! I ended up taking Irving 1st (76 overall A+ potential), Terrance Jones 7th (71 overall B+ potential) and Justin Harper in the 2nd round! Awesome draft.

In free agency my only needs were a back up center and a PF. I picked up Thadious Young and Spencer Hawes to fill those voids. So all in all, a very successful off-season. So here is my opening day rotation:

      Irving / Udrih
      Evans / Hamilton
      Jones / Francisco Garcia
      Thaddeus Young / Jason Thompson
      Cousins / Hawes

Thoughts? Its a pretty young and athletic team. Should be able to run the floor pretty well. Only one player over 35. How'd I do? Is that a pretty realistic rebuild.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I've recently been having a lot of fun with the 76er's against my buddies, and decided to try an association with them. Starting with the actual rosters, I made the following transactions:

          Trades

To Detroit: Spencer Hawes, Marreese Speights, Andres Nocioni, '12 1st Pick
To Philly: Greg Monroe, Austin Daye, Jason Maxiell

To Minnesota: Darius Songaila, Jason Maxiell
To Philly: Martell Webster, '11 2nd Pick

          Free Agency

Signed Steven Hunter to a 1yr/minimum deal

*Sent Jodie Meeks down to D-League, since I don't have any minutes for him

After that, I've been left with a roster of:

          Holiday/Williams/Daniels
          Iguodala/Turner/Kapono
          Young/Webster/Daye
          Brand/Brackins
          Monroe/Hunter/Battie

Which I would consider to be a very balanced roster. I also love the idea of having a young core of Holiday, Turner, Brackins, and Monroe, with the possibility of keeping Iggy and Young.

First game is coincidentally against the Heat. Woo!

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

WOWW! I just played the most exciting game ever.

First game of the season with the 76er's (see post above for roster) against the Heat. BTW, playing 10 minute quarters on superstar.

LeBron dropped 30(!!!) on me in the first half. I literally couldn't stop him. I then switched my defense to a 3-2 zone, and his impact faded quickly. On the other hand, Iguodala couldn't hit the ocean with a beachball. He missed countless open looks all game long to the point that I considered subbing Turner in for him in the final minutes of the game.

Nearing the end of the fourth quarter, the play of Holiday and Monroe kept my team in the game. Down 3, Monroe gets an offensive rebound, passes it to Holiday where he pulls it out and finds Iggy curling around the three point line and gets a wide open look at the top where he DRAINS it! Tie ball game. Big Z then tries to casually inbound the ball to LeBron, and Holiday steals it to give my team a final shot after a timeout. I put the ball in the hands of Iggy, and he just missed a fadeaway jumper over Wade to send it into overtime.

In overtime, it went back and forth, with LeBron trying to take over for the Heat, and Holiday trying to take over for the 76ers. With under a minute remaining, LeBron found Wade who shook himself from Iggy and drained a bucket to put the Heat up by 2. Do or die for my team, SOMEHOW Holiday is left open for 3 with 0.4 seconds left and HITTTSSS ITTTTT!!! 76ers up 1. After a timeout, the Heat inbound to LeBron who was well above the 3 point line and chucks up a hail mary three which actually goes in!!!! ...but the buzzer had already gone. 76ers freaking win 126-125. It's amazing the emotion this game can build up!

            Stats from the game:

Jrue Holiday 31 pts, 11 ast, 3 reb, 4 stl
Greg Monroe 28 pts, 11 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk
Andre Iguodala 18 pts, 3 reb, 1 stl

LeBron James 49 pts, 8 reb, 9 ast
            Dwyane Wade 27 pts 5 reb, 8 ast, 4stl
            Chris Bosh 12 pts, 6 reb, 1ast, 2 blk

I finshed my first season playing as the Rockets and I won the NBA title. Played the Heat in the finals and it went to game 7. I made some changes to my team. I wanted to go young and build my team for the future. My off season move are like this.
Draft: I won the lottery with the Cavs pick(from a trade earlier in the season) with that pick I draft Kyrie Irving. I also traded my 1st round pick for this year and next for the Raptors 1st round pick this year. With that pick I drafted Perry Jones. The Nets offer me their 1st round pick for Luis Scola. With that pick I drafted Fabricio Melo.

              Free Agency
I sign Jason Williams. I wanted a Vet PG to back up Irving.

So my roster look like this:
PG: Kyrie Irving/ Jermaine Taylor/ Jason Williams
SG: Kevin Martin/ Courtney Lee/ Jermaine Taylor
SF: Gerald Wallace/ Chase Budinger/ Chris Weight(Pick him in the 2nd round. And he is from UD)
              PF: Patrick Patterson/ Perry Jones
              C: Yao Ming/ Fabricio Melo.

Overall I am happy with my team and I do plan to keep this team together for a while.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I'm currently 11-4 (82 game season) with my Nets. Have had a couple of very close wins and those 4 losses my bench didn't show up.

The Heat game I played was very close but I pulled it out 101-98. DeRon Williams had a very sub-par game for them but Big Z put in 18 (!), he was nailing his jumpers. We were trading baskets in the final 2 minutes and I won the FT game late.

Made another trade though.. sent Rafer Alston Rashad McCants, and Azibuke to the Magic for Jameer Nelson, Earl Clark, and Malik Allen. The Magic traded Jason Richardson for Mo Williams so they were loaded at PG (which worked out for me).

Send Clark and Morrison (I think) to the Pacers for Rush and Posey. I take on some cap but it helps my bench out and replace the shooter I lost in Azibuke. Posey's contract is only 2 years so its not that bad. My new lineup:

PG: Jameer Nelson / Armon Johnson / Chris Quinn
                SG: Tony Allen / Rush
SF: LeBron James / James Posey
PF: Ekpe Udoh / Antonio McDyess / Malik Allen
C: Blake Griffin / Chris Hunter

Fun team so far, Jameer has helped my team a ton with his outside shooting.. just have to avoid injuries!

is there a way to fix the rotations in association? I adjust every teams rotations and give players the proper minutes, but when association stars, it all gets messed up. Why does this happen and can it be fixed?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I have chosen to go with the Los Angeles Clippers. Don't think I've played with them much, I then decided to make two trades and that will be it for the next few years. ( Except shipping off Kaman during the draft if needed ).

Mavericks trade: Jason Kidd, '11 2nd round pick.
                    Clippers trade: Mo Williams.

Timberwolves trade: Wesley Johnson, Sebastian Telfair.
Clippers trade: Eric Bledsoe, Randy Foye, '12 1st round pick, '11 2nd round pick ( from Mavericks ).

                    So my starting five are;

                    PG - Kidd,
                    SG - Gordon,
                    SF - Johnson,
                    PF - Griffin,
                    C - Jordan.

Think it's a nice young athletic team except Kidd who I will replace in the upcoming '11 draft with either Walker, Irving or Knight.
                    Football: Manchester United
                    MLB: Cleveland Indians
                    NBA: Miami Heat
                    NFL: Cleveland Browns

Unfortunately, unless you control all 30 teams you can't do anything about it as teams will just edit their rotations themselves.

I trade a lot for unhappy role players on teams only to ship them to another team where they will play more (or just keep them on my team).

I started another Association with the Hawks because I traded away half of my original team my first season. Trading away, Josh Smith, Kirk Heinrich, Zaza Pachuila, Jeff Teague, Marvin Williams, and I lost Jamaal Crawford to free agency at the end of the season. So I started another Association keeping most of my good players, here is my new roster.

                          Kirk Hinrich/Jamaal Crawford/Joe Johnson
                          Joe Johnson/Jamaal Crawford/ Ime Udoku
                          K. Azabuke/Marvin Williams/Josh Smith/Ime Udoku
                          Al Horford/Josh Smith/Josh Powell
                          Surge Ibacka/De'Andre Jordan/Hilton Armstrong

I decided not to start Josh Smith at the SF position because he is too slow, has no handles, and cant shoot 3's that good.

Yea Smitty is a beast in this game, he can score, block shots, get steals, dunk on you, and play great defense. But he is just not big enough down low. Good post players do fade-aways, and hook shots on him all day.
