Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I started up a Raptors association I've been trying to get realistic scores for months and have gone through about 50ish associations this is the first where I'm actually having a hard time scoring and that games are actually close.

I'm currently 2-1 just had a very disappointing loss to the Knicks 94-82 after shooting 58% and going 8/10 from 3 in the first half I shot a personal worst 28% and only 35 points in the second half, open looks, post ups, dunks, lay-ups, free throws you name it it was not falling. I was running plays, trying to get on the break but it just seemed like a lid was on the basket and I found the problem was that I have not one person on my team that can shoot off the dribble so all my shots have to come from coming off screens or drive and kick so I'm going to look for someone who can create their one shot

    My line-up consist of
    PG:Bayless (14.3ppg 9.3apg)
    SG:Mayo (18.0ppg/3rpg/5apg)
    SFerrick Williams(6ppg 4rgp .5apg)
    PFeAndre Jordan(3ppg 8rpg 3bpg)
    C:Andrea Bargnani(17.4ppg 6.3rpg)

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

So I started as the bulls on 10 mins quarters, all star,29 games. Anyways I went 11-6 through the first 17 games and I finally got my chance at the Heat we surprisingly are in 4th in the East, well I started off slow and the heat jumped out to a 11 point lead early, rose picked up two early fouls and oj mayo, Recently acquired from the grizzlies for korver and two first rounders picked up the slack hitting his first two threes two spark the bulls. Anyways ahead to the fourth the heat were out in from 90-80 and rose then took over and with 3 seconds left I was down just two! I was pumped. Inbound to rose double teamed to mayo who I don't even mnow how finishes over James and sends it to OT. In ot rose fouled out...****! Anyways oj kept us in it along with help from deng and Noah. 2 seconds left though I'm done 3, mayo tries a long three no good. Game. It was a hell of a game even though I lost..I love this game! Looking to get a top 3 seed now after dropping from second..can't wait!

Roy goes up 1 or 2 overall during the season if he's happy. but in the player progression screen in the offseason most players went up or down but Roy just stayed at 80. This kind of concerns me as him and LMA are supposed to be the foundations of the future.

Also, I too like Fernandez, but he only had 1 year on his contract and he's not very loyal so I thought I'd get something for him instead of watching him walk at the end of the year.

I agree. McGee is a monster defensively. Already got his block rating to 99. Also, he's athletic enough to run a great pick and roll game with him and Kemba where he's always open for a lob to the basket.

            Toronto Raptors
I play Superstar 12 min qtr sim sliders and with rosters that lowered a lot of the players potentials by at least 10 points from the NBA 2k rosters also with edited tendencies.

In my first year of association which I played about 20-25 games and simmed the rest my team's record was 15-67. Midway through the season the CPU offered me Michael Redd for Jose Calderon and Leandro Barbossa which I happily took so that I could free up a ton of cap. My record was good enough(bad enough) for the worst in the league so I was able to pick up help at the point guard position because I only had Jerryd Bayless for the remainder of the season. LeBron won regular season MVP. The season ended up with the Mavs 4 Heat 3 in the finals with Dirk winning the MVP. Kinda crazy the Heat won first game and then the Mavs took 2 then Miami tied it and the Mavs won 2 of 3 with the Heat leading til 5 mins left in Game 7 and the Mavs winning by 1.

            Offseason:

I ended up picking up the 2 year team option on DeMar DeRozan,
then the offseason got going with the best chance at the number one pick I got it and picked Kyrie Irving who will be starting right away. The draft class I fixed so it didn't have the players like Barnes and Sully.
The Heat ended up adding Kenyon Martin and Tayshaun Prince to 2 year deals while they try to win a title. Atlanta got busy signing Kelenna Azubuike to a 4 yr deal, resigned Jamal Crawford to a 5 yr and added Jeremy Lin and Brandan Wright. Golden State signed Shannon Brown to a 4 yr, J.R. Smith to a 4 yr, and Alozono Gee to a 5 yr deal. So IDK what they plan on doing with those moves possibly trade one of them or maybe just they like all those guys because they can all get down on the break. Anyways I like to just let my Association play out and don't fix the CPU cause I figure let it play out. The Celtics then picked up Michael Redd on a 4 yr deal and Jonas Jerebko to a 3 yr. The Kings added PG Aaron Brooks to a 4 yr deal which I kinda like this move for them. The Suns added Yi Jianlian 4 yr and Delonte West 4 yr. The Hornets signed Matt Barnes and Larry Hughes to 3 yr and Troy Murphy to a 2 yr. Depending on how they do I might control the Hornets and make CP3 leave sorry for the contradiction.
Finally my turn I was real busy and I think this is all pretty realistic given that it's a video game. I signed Jeff Green to a 4 yr 38.76M deal, Yao Ming to a 3 yr 50.09M deal with a player option, Vinsanity is back in Tor with a 1 yr 8.20M sixth man contract, and I got Carl Landry to accept a 4 yr 26.50 role player contract. My plan is to have Green at SF, Yao at C move Bargs to PF and have a 7 ft front court. I also thought it was wise to add Landry so I could play him at PF and Bargs at C when Yao will inevitably get hurt and be out for the season. I also thought I could use VC as a mentor to DD and get some good scoring off the bench. I also traded Joey Graham and James Johnson to acquire Earl Clark and Gary Flowers from ORL so I could get Landry more playing time.

So now here's my starting lineup
            PG: Kyrie Irving
            SG: DeMar DeRozan
            SF: Jeff Green
            PF: Andrea Bargnani
            C: Yao Ming
            6: VC-SG
            6A: Carl Landry-PF
            8: Ed Davis-PF
            9: Jerryd Bayless-PG
            10: Samardo Samuels-PF
            11: Earl Clark-PF
            12: Flowers-SF
So what do you guys think?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Strangest thing happened this afternoon as I decided to create an association with Ricky Rubio in it for next year.... Superstar/sim Starting lineup of Flynn, Johnson, Beasley, Love and Pekovic, 6th man of Ridnour, and Randolph as they other major minutes guy.... Heyward & Rubio (as he wasn't there this season) sent down to D League, coaching profile adjusted to slow down Minnesota's play style... Darko getting a season long injury... and I simmed every game to to go 43 and 39 and take the fourth seed... lost in second round of playoffs to Spurs who would go on and lose to Heat.... Not sure I am overly keen on this association... but I had to mention the astounding reality of Wolves finishing fourth in the conference... (I did have CPU trades off though, to ensure teams would go into off season as they are now though).

Even strangely Cleveland took Derrick Williams and I took Kyrie Irving (I tried to adjust some of the draft picks for realism leading into next season) whom I then traded with Milicic to get Kanter (wanted Kanter in first place but not at 2, and saw as a chance to rid of the Darko contract).

Still amazed they made the playoffs.

Bentons NBA 2k11 Portland Trail Blazers Association

*I will do updates after every sunday on the calender in the game.. Maybe not after every game, Just a short recap and the box score and any other news. So the next update will come on 12-11-11 after my 3rd game, I play OKC,DET,MIL Next...**

Blazers Fall to Nets in New Jersey

New Jersey: Trail Blazer guard Brandon Roy did not play in the game due to a injured back, and early in the game against the Nets Wesley Matthews who is starting in place of Roy. Came up hobbling after going for a block shot, and twisted his ankle, but he is only listed as day to day, and continued to play in the game but had his minutes reduced, Now what will Coach/GM Benton do with Roy and Wes hurting ?.

LaMarcus Aldridge Stepped up big time with the injuries and had 32 points and 9 rebounds in 40 minutes of action and Gerald Wallace added in 14 and 9 with 4 steals.

Nets Star Carmelo Anthony lead the way for the Nets he had 26 points and 9 rebounds on 10-18 shooting. The Nets could not miss, they shot 54.6 percent on the night. Brook Lopez, Anthony and Derron Williams combined for 76 points. The Nets have now won 6 in a row. Up next for the Blazers is a home game against division rival and first place Oklahoma City Thunder.

GM/HC Benton has a decision to make on how much to play Wesley and Roy or wither to even play them at all. There has also been rumor of Portland trading there former all star Brandon Roy has he has received alot of interest but for now the team is staying the way they are now.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Made a really big trade on draft day of my association. I am the Knicks and I traded Billups Balkman and my 1st round pick (pick 18 i think) to the Jazz for Al Jefferson. This trade made a huge impact on my lineup.

Started the season with this as my lineup:
Jenkins (PG drafted late in 2nd round)
                  Fields
                  Anthony
                  Amare
                  Jefferson
                  Douglas
                  Williams
                  Turiaf
                  Walker
                  Jefferies

Jefferson really transformed the teams defense and rebounding ability. The kid Jenkins is actually a good player. Real qxcited about this squad. What you guys think?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I got my cavaliers association up and running the other night. Started off by simulating the first season and getting the first 10 draft picks in the same order as this years draft. With the 1st and 4th picks I ended up with Kyrie Irving and Enes Kanter, and In the second round I got Jamine Peterson. With Irving on the roster I didn't really have a need for Ramon Sessions so I traded him to Portland for a first round pick. It was a 3 team trade and they got another player, but for the life of me I cannot remember exactly what the details of the trade were. I figured that they didn't make out too terrible, the best PG on their roster was Jimmer Fredette rated at a 67. So my opening day roster looked something like...

PG Kyrie Irving/ Baron Davis/ Daniel Gibson
                    SG Anthony Parker/ Manny Harris
SF Joey Graham/ Jamine Peterson/ Christian Eyenga
                    PF Antawn Jamison/ JJ Hickson/ Samardo Samuels/ Jeff Pendergraph(FA)
                    C Enes Kanter/ Anderson Varejao/ Ryan Hollins

The team is incredibly weak at SG and SF but I'm looking to change that. The only people on the roster that are more or less untouchable are Kanter, Irving, and Gibson (no trade value, great off the bench). I really want to move Hickson for a solid SG. The next draft is pretty deep with SF so I plan on waiting till then to add a SF(hopefully Barnes or Jones).

I decided to play on Hall of Fame with Redlogic's sliders, playing 8 minute quarters. I've been playing on Hall of Fame with some different sliders, but I'm liking these sliders a lot. My first game of the season was against the rockets, or should I say Yao Ming.. He straight up destroyed me! It didn't help that Varejao was out with an injury and that he got my bigs in foul trouble early.

So after getting destroyed by the Rockets my next game was against the Trailblazers. This was a really tight game but I ended up getting the win. If Roy had played a little better they would have came out with the win, but he went 4-15 from the field.

Next up was a home game verse the Bobcats. With Gallinari and Vince Carter in the lineup they put up a good first half going into halftime with a slight lead. Jamison and Irving came out in the 3rd and put up 6/7 from 3 though, and got us the lead going into the 4th. The 4th quarter was pretty uneventful and I pulled out the win.

My next game is at home up against the Timberwolves, who with the 2nd pick in the draft picked Alec Burks. Which was very surprising to say the least. Anyone have any suggestions for a solid young SG? Besides James harden and OJ Mayo.

I like the direction you went. Kanter and Irving make for a great foundation.

Solid young SG? Evan Turner. Though I dont know that you'd have the pieces required to snag him up. I wanted ET badly in my Wizards association but didn't want to give up the pieces they wanted. Settled in with Stephen Jackson for now, he's only got two more years left, and with a 1st round pick I snagged up for 2012 I'll be targetting a SG as it should be lottery bound.

I'd consider targetting Paul George. He was another guy I was interested in but didn't want to move the pieces they required.

So far in my kings association i'am 8-1 with my only lost coming againest the suns.

I rebuilt the whole team because i didnt want the kings to be at the bottom of the standings and we in cali right next door to the lakers so i needed some stars fast and i got them.

Ended of doing each trade right in order to get me my big three with some good role players.

                        my starting line up is

pg- chris paul- 22.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 11.8 apg, 2.7 spg
sg- courtney lee- 3.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.7 apg and 1.3 spg. (missed 5games due to injury)
sf- gerold wallece- 17.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.9 apg and 1.8 spg and 1.6bpg
pf- darrell arthur- 8.0 ppg, 7 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.4 spg and 0.6 bpg
                        C- Dwight Howard- 25.9 ppg, 14.3 rpg, 1.9 apg, 3.0 bpg

                        6th- Jorden Hill
                        7th- Brandon Rush
                        8th- Sean Williams

As you see my big three are howard, paul and wallace. They plays excellent defense together score most of my team points also but have a better supporting cast.

Our next game is againest the knicks which will see dwight on amare and wallace on melo.

Didnt use trade override or nothing and i know its unrealistic but the wallace trade would work in reall ife cause they have batum so yeah and everyone in the trade got young pieces.

Thanks, I kind of forgot about Evan Turner. I'll have to see what they want for him..

No problem, I really liked Turner in college, his ability to play the 1 through 3 is very appealing, he has a good potential, good size, good everything. I'm hopefully going to take another crack at him with a 1st rounder I picked up that should turn lottery, packaged with Stephen Jackson and (likely) my backup C Tyson Chandler. Just hard for me not to want starting five of Wall / Turner / Iguodala (picked him up from the Sixers instead of Turner in my first off-season, they were more willing to part ways with him) / Potter (Grabbed him up as well from the Sixers, was their 1st rounder who has a C- potential but is already at a 78 overall and will be my offensive post presence) / McGee.

Still would take a look at Paul George. He's no superstar, but he's a very good, young, 2 guard. Danny Granger is also another good piece to look at.

But yes, I think ET is the business and am looking forward to seeing if I can pry him away.

I had a 2 point lead with 5 seconds to go, but Larry Bird hit a fallaway baseline jumper to tie the game and send it to OT.

In the extra session, I took a 2-point lead after Sam Perkins converted a 3-point play. Boston held the ball for the last shot, which wound up being a crazy series of events. Dennis Johnson dribbled the clock down, looked for Bird but couldn't get him the ball b/c of the tight defense I was playing. So, DJ pulled up for an 18-foot jumper, missed it, but Kevin McHale grabbed the offensive rebound. Perkins did a good job of quickly getting tight to McHale, not allowing him to get up a shot, so McHale, who was also being doubled by a hard-charging Magic Johnson, kicked the ball back to DJ who missed a baseline jumper as the buzzer sounded.

It felt good to beat this Celtics team after they thumped us in the Forum last month. 17-6 now in my 58-game season.
I've lost 2 straight after this classic game. The very next night I had to travel to Chicago to take on the current-day Bulls and you could tell my guys were fatigued. I hung close for three quarters, but ran out of gas in the 4th and wound up losing by 8.

After the 4-game road trip, I returned home to take on the Miami Heat. I jumped out to a quick 9-point lead but Miami just ripped me to shreds in the 2nd quarter, outscoring me by 20 and they went on to win the game rather handily; they were up by 30 at one point and won 97-75.

I really need to cut down on the turnovers and also need to figure out a way to get more rebounds. I'm getting killed on the glass and the turnovers are just giving the CPU more opportunities to score.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Hey guys, first of all, I've read quite a few pages and I must say I love the internet. When I was younger I was pretty sure I was the only person on the face of the earth that loved playing the role of GM and creating a championship team. So it's always a blast for me to read these.

I've started so many associations in 2k11, but then have to restart them because of a patch, or roster update, or I've found a new set of sliders, or downloaded a great draft class that i want to implement. Finally that's out of the way and I lucked into a great team, so I wanted to get your opinion. It's kind of a rate my trade, rate my team, how's your association going, rolled into one post.

I decided a good "storyline" would be to try and keep the Kings in Sactown. Obviously they're staying for one more year in real life, so I made up a "deal" that they needed to show promise or else they were indeed going to be moving. I wanted Tyreke at the point so I signed Azubuike to start with Thornton as a 6th man. The only trade I made during the season was trading my 2012 1st rounder and Casspi to the Raptors for their 2011 1st rounder.

I simulated the season, and we improved our record by 12 games, but missed the playoffs. I wound up getting the 5th overall pick from the Raptors trade, and lucked into the 7th pick, going all the way up from 12th in the lottery.

The day of the draft, I was offered a trade that I had to accept. The Cavs, having the 3rd pick, offered me J.J. Hickson and their 1st round pick in exchange for Jason Thompson, Hassan Whiteside, and my #7 pick. I'm not a huge fan of Thompson in game, and love using Hickson, so I jumped all over it.

I knew I wasn't going to get Kyrie Irving or Derrick Williams, so I was happy that I'd scouted other people. The Pistons took Irving first, but the T-Wolves, as they tend to do, totally messed up (man this game is realistic, lol) and decided to take Jimmer Fredette with the 2nd overall pick. Stunned, I immediately took Williams, by the time my #5 pick rolled around, Kemba Walker was still on the board, and I'd rather groom him and potentially start him and shift Reke back over to the 2, so I snagged him.

Once free agency began, I had a ton of cap room as I'd made a couple of other trades (also grabbing Tristan Thompson early in the 2nd round) to clear space. My priority was to re-sign Marcus Thornton. I targeted him, Thaddeus Young, Deandre Jordan, Spencer Hawes, and Reggie Williams (insanely underrated in my opinion).

To my surprise, I had the cap space to get all of them, with 2 million and a MLE to spare. They all agreed to their respective contracts, and I completely lucked into what's turned out to be my favorite 2k team of all time. I've been playing since the original NBA 2K on Dreamcast, so that's saying a lot. Here's my lineup.

PG - Tyreke Evans, Kemba Walker
SG - Reggie Williams, Marcus Thornton
SF - Derrick Williams, Thaddeus Young
PF - J.J. Hickson, Tristan Thompson (I'll occasionally put Derrick Williams or Thaddeus young here for a quicker/smaller lineup)
C - Demarcus Cousins, Spencer Hawes (when we need offense), Deandre Jordan (when we need defense).

I feel as though with Thornton and Young, I have 2 "6 mans" which will give me a great bench and instantly make it among the best in the league, before I factor in Kemba, Hawes, and Jordan.

Even with all that young talent, we're still only ranked 22nd overall, which is cool because I still want it to be challenging.

We won our opening game against the Grizzlies, 119-91. Derrick Williams destroyed their defense, going for 35 points, 14 rebounds (6 offensive), 4 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks. Young had 21 off the bench in just 15 minutes, and Tyreke finished with 11 points, 3 steals, and 11 assists.

I beat the Suns by 3 points, and then lost to the Warriors by 15 in my 3rd game.

I just want to get some opinions from my fellow 2k/NBA fans. What do you think of that team? I realize it's nearly overloaded with offensive talent. I think my problem going forward will be trying to limit opposing guards. In all 3 games, the opposing teams best player (stats wise) were the point guards. Conley went for 19 and 13, Nash had 12 and 18, and Curry went mental on me, going for 34 points and 9 assists. R. Williams nor Thornton are good perimeter defenders, so the opposing shooting guards also did quite well. Fortunately though, despite not being rated highly as a defender, Derrick Williams speed, athleticism and length have made him into my best perimeter defender already.

Also, I know he's technically a power forward. A lot of scouts have yet to agree on what his true position will be in the NBA. But due to him coming straight out of the draft with an 83 low post rating, coupled with his size, vertical, quickness, and speed. He'd be better suited to the SF for this particular team. He constantly abuses SFs in the low post and is already drawing double teams.

So, all that being said, what do you guys think about this Kings squad, put together to show progress, draw interest, and keep the team in the city that loves them.
