Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I'm not here to show off my association, I just want some help with my association settings.

Is it possible to turn player roles off after you have already started your association? I'm getting tired of all these players league-wide complaining when they probably wouldn't be in real life?

And if it's not possible can someone give me some tips to adjust?
Time...line? Time isn't made out of lines... it is made out of circles. That is why clocks are round.

Sadly no, once you turn it on it's on for the whole association
IMO it's unplayable with player roles on

Does anyone have any tips on how to settle down and really get excited about an association? I have a bad problem with getting going in one and 3-4 games in to it, deciding another team would be more interesting, and switch, only to do the same later. Anybody do the same? Tips would be appreciated
The way to build a good team is not to load it with star players, but to load it with players who play well together with an identity

You could always just do 30-team control and play different game throughout the season.

As far as staying with one team, for me it was pretty easy once 2K introduced some classic teams into the mix; Magic Johnson is my all-time favorite player, so there was never a doubt that I was going to use the 1990-91 Lakers in Association. I imported all the classic teams from the MJ Challenge into Association, replacing current teams I didn't care for too much. It's fun seeing Magic go up against teams like the Heat or Kobe and the current day Lakers.

Playing a 29- or 58-game schedule may also help.

Oh, and it will be a good lineup in later years due to Patrick Patterson. He'll become a 86 Overall before you know it. Overall, it is a good lineup, but do some trades to get a good bench, you can't always rely on D Will and Lopez to do amazing.

                  I traded Ben Uzoh, a 2012 2nd round pick, and a 2012 1st round pick for Fields

I traded Kris Humphries, Mario West, a 2011 1st round pick, and a 2011 2nd round pick for Patterson and Hayes.

Still moving through season 4 of my Miami Heat association, and I decided to move Omer Asik into the starting lineup and send Dexter Pittman to the bench, so when I start each half I will have a completely defensive-minded group out there, while having my offensive-minded role players come off of the bench. I also signed Quentin Richardson to fill out my roster, as I sent two rookies to the D-League. My rotation looks like this now, with overall ratings, minutes, and roles in parentheses.

                    Starters:

PG: Mario Chalmers (76 overall) (24 mins.) (Starter)
SG: Dwyane Wade (99 overall) (36 mins.) (Starter)
SF: LeBron James (99 overall) (42 mins.) (Starter)
PF: Chris Bosh (89 overall) (36 mins.) (Starter)
C: Omer Asik (71 overall) (15 mins.) (Starter)

                    Bench:

PG: Kemba Walker (74 overall) (24 mins.) (Sixth Man)
SG: Mike Miller (71 overall) (18 mins.) (Role Player)
PF: Udonis Haslem (71 overall) (18 mins.) (Role Player)
C: Dexter Pittman (71 overall) (15 mins.) (Role Player)
C: Joel Anthony (66 overall) (12 mins.) (Role Player)
PG: Eddie House (58 overall (0 mins.) (Bench Warmer)
SF: James Jones (60 overall) (0 mins.) (Bench Warmer)

                    Inactive List:

SF: Quentin Richardson (61 overall) (0 mins.) (Bench Warmer)

I was rebuilding the wizards a week ago. It's the easiest franchise because this game thinks John Wall is the 2nd coming of michael jordan. I traded:

                        Heat Get:
                        PG John Wall
                        SF Rashard Lewis
2011 First Round Pick (ended up being #18)
                        2012 First Round Pick

                        Wizards Get:
                        SF LeBron James
                        PG Mario Chalmers

the dumbest trade in NBA History hands down.

The potential system needs to be fixed to where a 99 potential guy must play well on the court. If he's a power forward and averages 25 ppg and 10 rpg, he should go up a good 6 or 7 ovr (if he's under say, 22, years old). In 2K11, i did a test. I made a 60 overall center (fictional player) be 19 years old and have 99 potential. I simmed 5 seasons and afterwards he was a 77 overall putting up 6 ppg and 5 rpg, as well as 2 bpg and shooting 52%. Not bad stats, but he went free agency and signed a 6 year $105 million dollar contract with the cavs who already had Enes Kanter (who was a 91 overall). No real point to signing him). Also teams will take a 45 overall in the draft with 90 potential or higher in the top 15/lottery. I would never do that, because once they get to maybe a 60-65 overall, they'll start to regress.

The best thing to do in association training camps is to get a player who is 24 yrs old or under, 75-85 overall, and 80-85 potential (B- or B). Then give them the untapped potential training camp. I've done it 2nd year of association with Kevin Love, Eric Gordon, Jrue Holiday, Wesley Johnson, Evan Turner, and Paul George. All became a 90 overall or higher at some point during the association (Holiday and George both became 95 overall's at the peaks of their respective careers, and both were putting up 25 points per game and at least 8 in another stat category, so they probably deserved the 95). There's a nice little tip. If you wanna rebuild a team take potential over present (aka if a guy is a 70 overall with A+ potential, take him over an 80 overall with B potential). His trade value will be a lot higher, meaning you can either let him progress into a star, or trade him and a few picks for a current star. I'm bored of typing so here ya go.

try to find a player you want to watch grow up in front of your eyes. Since I'm bored as hell with my player, I've been doing lots of associations. I used Steph Curry. Before i was finished with it, my goal was to make him a 93 overall. I got there working with him in development drills and training camps. Eventually, I saw the player progression menu and it said Stephen Curry 94 (arrow up)2
so he got up there. I like to build young teams because it keeps me intrigued trying to figure out how they will progress. Most importantly, build a team you will have fun with. If you like to shoot threes, do a fantasy draft and put Kyle Korver, Anthony Morrow, and Mike Miller coming off of your bench. If you like to play in the post, take a big guy in the first round and then take Carl Landry or Darrell Arthur in the 6th round. If you like to beat your man off the dribble easily, take dwayne wade or derrick rose, etc.

                              Biggest Blockbuster trade ever?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a Kings association I'm having fun with it right now, really enjoying the game.

I simmed the first season, drafted Justin Harper in the 1st cause Jimmer was gone. Surprisingly Marshon Brooks fell to me in the mid 2nd round so i snatched him up quickly. I hired Rick Adelman as my head coach and hired a defensive minded assistant coach.

I traded for an unhappy Lamar Odom, i packaged up Jason Thompson with a pick.

                                My current roster:
                                Beno Udrih/Eugene Jeter/Nate Robinson/Rafer Alston
                                Tyreke Evans/Marshon Brooks
                                Thabo Sefolosha/Marcus Thornton
                                Lamar Odom/Justin Harper
                                Demarcus Cousins/Sammy Dalembert/Hassan Whiteside

I know I have a lot of PG's. Thats cause I'm not really good with Jeter, Nate is to small for my style of play and Rafer Alston fits me well. I'm very good with Skip To Mu Lou so he's getting the most backup minutes.

Lamar Odom got injured for 2-4 weeks, 2 games ago. The season just started so it's gonna throw some chemistry off and Tyreke just got injured for 2-4 weeks also last game. I'm 6 games into the season and our record is 2-4. It's gonna be a struggle these next few weeks cause of these key injuries, but it should be fun and frustrating.
