Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

first year with the grizz, made a couple of trades - couldn't see randolph or conley as championship players and just kind of don't like them, so picked up josh smith (beast), eric maynor (not great) and also a first round pick which should be top 10 so i can find a replacement at the point (hopefully knight or irving don't get taken before my pick). atm im sitting in 6th spot in the west with only a couple of games to go.

interesting trade of the season was denver - they got gerald wallace AND stephen jackson from charlotte for k-mart (expiring contract), ty lawson and a first round. pretty huge, all of a sudden denver are second in the west and might even retain carmelo for next year and the bobcats are a genuine rebuilding team.

the one thing that always happens to me is that i get better at the game and it gets too easy. im now 6th in west on pro/sim because i am beating the CPU easily now, including lakers, heat, celtics etc. But if i bump it up to allstar i will lose, probably in 4 games in round 1 of the playoffs, and the whole season is down the drain. what should i do?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I completed my first season with the Thunder. I went 8-21. I started 0-11 though, so I count my 8-10 finish as a massive improvement. I had the number 2 slot in the lottery and wound up getting the top pick where I selected Glenn Baker an 84 overall shooting guard. I found that I really lacked scoring options outside of Westbrook and Durant. I disliked Jeff Green quite a bit and James Harden was nothing but a pain who spent all season complaining about not getting enough playing time. So on draft day I actually managed to deal James Harden to the Raptors for the # 3 pick where I took a PF rated 81. Allowing me to let Jeff Green leave in Free Agency. I made no real moves in free agency. Outside of bringing back Kristic as my backup Center. I found I liked his rebounding and his occasional skill at getting to the rim. Aldrich still has a lot of work on that front for me.

Kind of surprising in the offseason the Kings made a ton of moves. They signed Carmello Anthony and Jeff Green and Aaron Brooks. They are the new number one in the preseason power rankings. I'm number 3, because on paper I look awesome having just added 2 top 3 picks to my team. We'll see if I can actually improve enough to make the playoffs. I'm only now developing any skill at all in the post.

Bargnani is a matchup nightmare coming off of screens for defending Centers. Having a 7 footer that can shoot opens up the inside for Big Al and Milsap.
What's your record? How do you like playing with the Jazz?

I'm 4-2 right now. Lost to the Suns and Thunder. Westbrook and Durant gave me fits. I love playing with the jazz however. I really had to adjust my style of play. I finally have my playbook the way I can maximize everyone.

Having Williams at PG is so unfair. He can run the break, pick and roll, has a nice jumper and can finish.

I found that having bargani hanging around mid range/three point line opens up my entire offense. Kirelenko has been out since the first game with a sever ankle sprain, so Courtney Lee has been playing more, and he is balling. Had 15 pts off the bench last game. Him and Bell are great at 2 guard. Bell has great d and a good mid range. Lee is very similar except he can slash and finish with authority.

My defense is ok right now, but I think that will improve as my chemistry improves.

              First 2 months recap

Have to say, we're getting beat up down low, big forwards & centers are just eating up Green & Krstic up. Kevin Durant has took a baby step back and his defense isn't improving. Westbrook his numbers are down but he is still playing at a high level, Harden is creeping into taking Sefolosha's starting job but it's hard to bench Thabo because his defense is lock down thus far. The Thunder are in talks of adding some defense and take on a contract if we keep this up over the month of December.

Just draft a 7'3" rookie C rated 81 overall. 85 blocking after training camp as well, so he's a beast. He KILLS in the "challenge shot" drills, so I'll get his block, d. awareness, and on-ball defense up in no time (on-ball defense too, because I want to be able to cover 3-pt-shooting big men as well.

Awesome man. Random draft class or was it downloaded?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I was having some issues with Josh Howard's attitude in my Wizards association. He was wanting minutes that I didn't have to give him. Sent him to Charlotte along with a 2nd round pick in 2012 for Shaun Livingston and a 1st rounder this year. Livingston is pretty bad, but I needed to match salaries. Howard is a much better player, but like I said he was causing locker room trouble and the first rounder was pretty much a no brainer.

I have four first rounders this year (Wiz, Thunder, Bucks, Bobcats) and my 2nd rounder. Next year I have two first rounders (Wiz and Bucks). I don't think I am going to have a problem rebuilding, lol. My original pick is the only lottery pick currently, but Milwaukee and OkC are hovering around the lower middle of their conferences. Might end up with a second.

The price I had to pay for all of those draft picks is an 11-19 record; good for 13th in the east. Still early, but most of those wins came before the talent dump.

Miami is ahead of the pack in the east at 26-8 and the Lakers sit atop the west at 25-7. San Antonio is also having a great year at 23-9 while Chicago and Atl are 20-10 and 22-12, respectively. Kobe is the current scoring leader at 32.7 ppg. Lebron and Durant are close behind, both at 30.8. Lebron has won every player of the week in the east except one (Gerald Wallace).

My team chemistry is only at 3%. Most of my player morales are above 80. Is winning the only way to improve chemistry?

Agree with having D-Will at PG being unfair. He can do pretty much everything. I've yet to have a bad game with him. Sucks about AK for you. He's one of the funner players to play with, I think. Lee is a good pick up. One problem I had with the Jazz was the lack of scoring coming from the bench, so I picked up JJ Redick but Lee is also good.

                          My Assosciation is going well!

As the Wizards I traded Arenas for Al Jefferson and Utah's 1st rounder

Traded for David West and got the Hornet's first rounder

I forget who I traded but I ended up with Josh Childress and Suns 1st then traded Childress for an expiring contract and another 1st rounder.

I have 5 first round picks in 2011 and my starters are:

                          John Wall
                          Nick Young
                          Josh Howard
                          David West
                          Al Jefferson

First game I beat Orlando 111-110 and Wall had a 40 pt night. Last night I lost to the Hawks 120-103. Wall, Jefferson and West had 30 points...but the rest of the team was AWFUL.

Heinrich had 8 points, Howard had 3 points and someone else had 2. Nick Young was 0-5 shooting, Wall fouled out in the 4th quarter, Howard was 1-6 shooting and the Hawks drove on me at will.

We're probably going to rebuild through the draft with all those picks so I expect another season or two of losing before we can contend in the East.

In my last Association with Houston I went 42-40 made the 8th seed and lost in the 1st round. During the offseason i tried to re-sign Aaron Brooks for 5yr/approx 90mil as a starter and he instead signed with Golden State for 5yr/86mil as a role player. I was livid. How does that happen? Has this happened to anyone else?

Chris Paul went on a tear... dropping 46pts, grabbing 5 boards, & dishing 18 assists in 42 minutes of action; he also committed 7 turnovers, and other than that blemish had a tremendous night. Ariza and West contributed 27 and 22 pts respectively, and West finished w/ a double-double adding 12 boards. Charlie V came off the bench to add 11 and 8 in 31 minutes. It was a close one w/ Philly though, as Igoudala dropped 28 and filled up the stat sheet, Evan Turner contributed w/ 18 in 37 minutes, & Spencer Hawes contributed a double-double w/ 16 & 13. In the end Philly couldn't keep up the ferocious scoring pace set by CP3 and his 46pt effort.<O</O

Next was a game vs visiting Golden State... This team is hard to contain... They can kill you in a couple ways. Focusing so much attention on Curry, Monta, and Lee, I let Dorell Wright beat me. Wright finished w/ 23pts adding 3 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals in 33 minutes. Golden St took the win on the road in Nawlins 108-98, and got to the free throw line 28 time converting 19 of those 2 attempts. They also got out on the break and beat me in transition with 12 fast break points, versus my 2 FB pts.<O</O

Next game I played was with the Mavs since they were not playing an under-500% team. It was another OKC/Dallas showdown, the last time I'll play the Thunder... at least in the reg season. Still couldn't find a way to beat OKC either. That makes 3 losses against them, and I'm hoping I don't see them in the playoffs because they are my kryptonite right now. Despite a 37pt effort from Dirk, and managing to hold Durant to ONLY 35 (yes only 35 because in the previous two contests he went for 40+ in both games) I still couldn't find a win. The Thunder shot 52% from the field, and Dallas went really cold in the 4th qtr which brought their FG% for the game to 48% and allowed the Thunder to win 115-105. Caron Butler had a good game adding 22pts, 6 rebs, and 8 assists, and J-Kidd added 15pts/13assists. But my secret weapon, Roddy Beaubois, couldn't bury the hatchet in the 4th qtr and was clanking 3's all over the place finishing w/ only 2-10 shooting from the 3pt line. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook had a extremely efficient scoring day w/ 22 pts on 8-11 shooting.<O</O

Last game I played of this 4-game stretch was the Hornets @ Lakers... I surprisingly got out to a huge lead early, and shot the lights out on the Lakers en route to a 119-101 victory at the Staples Center. CP3 dropping 30pts and 20 assists, and Marcus Thornton's 3pt shooting widened the gap as he dropped 27pts while connecting on 7 3pointers. Kobe had a good game w/ 28/4/3/3 while shooting 12-22 and Pau added 19 & 11, but the Lakers couldn't keep up w/ the Hornets effectiveness from behind the arc; Hornets shot 12/22 from the 3pt line, while LAL shot 5/16. <O</O
