Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

    Season1 [as] Mavs (All-30 Teams) Association:<O</O
    <O</O
Decided I would just continue playing as only the Mavs; want to unlock that achievement for best record in the league and have already played 31 games w/ the Mavs.

Got in a game yesterday where I faced off @ the Bulls, it was the January 20th game on my schedule. Dallas got out to a commanding lead in the 1st qtr outscoring Chicago 38-16, but Chicago controlled the game from there and outscored Dallas in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to take a 10 pt win. The Bulls have the best record in the league, and the Mavs have lost 2 straight. Really wanted a win agaisnt Chicago since they stand in my way for that "best record in the league" achievement.

Simmed the next game @ New Jersey and lost my 3rd straight game. Even bigger though was losing Tyson Chandler for 6-8 weeks w/ a broken foot. Brendan Haywood is already out for another 2 weeks so now I'm down to Ian Mahinmi and Dirk as my only center options.

Looking at the FA pool there were not too many options available that interest me. In light of the injury to Chandler, I've decided to run w/ the following lineup:

    PG: Kidd
    SG: Terry
    SF: Posey
    PF: Marion
    C: Dirk

    6th: Caron Butler
    RP: Roddy Beaubois
    RP: Jose Juan Barea
    RP: Ian Mahinmi
    BW: Brian Cardinal
    BW: Mark Madsen
    BW: Ed Jacobs (D-League find)

I'll be going small till I get Haywood back. I signed Mark Madsen to the vet min. to give me a hustle guy who can defend in the post. The Mavs still hold the best record in the West despite losing their last 3 games...Got the Clipps next @ home...hopefully can end this 3-game losing streak. Since James Posey had been upset w/ his playing time, figured I'd give him a chance to start and focus on getting good defense from him. He can also spread the floor a little for me which should aide in Dirk getting good looks inside, or at least give Dirk another kick out option.

Pacers users I need some help..I'm really struggling with Darren Collison..I can't get his jumper down at all and everytime I go to the hole with him I get blocked. I'm new to this game so maybe I just need to get a better handle on things, but I can't do anything with him. 4-13 shooting in my first game, 5-20 in my second game.

I'm 2-0 right now playing on All Star...went on a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to eek out a 89-84 win over the Suns, then won a 92-90 back-and-forth game over the Bulls. Granger is averaging 27.5 PPG and 10 boards..he is just dominant with the mid-range jumper.
        turn my swag on

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Wow, just played a really close game against the river rivals -- the Knicks.

Both the Nets and the Knicks came into the game 2-0. I was thinking the Nets could snag this game since the Knicks have barely any inside presence or rebounding.

So, Nets ahead by 11 with 4 minutes to go, and the Knicks go on an 8-0 run thanks to Amar'e and Felton.

The Knicks now have the ball, and their inbounding it on the side. Gallinari is cutting to the passer, gets the ball, and I know he's going to shoot it. So I attempt to block it with Harris.

          Was that a good choice?

Harris ended up fouling Gallo while he was shooting the 3. Gallo swishes all 3 free throws.

8 seconds left now. Harris gets the ball, calls for the pick, but the pick comes too late. Harris attempts to drive, executes a step back, and shoots for the win! It goes in, and I get the Buzzer Beater trophy.

I'm getting a lot of balanced scoring from my team. As a team, we average 105 points, and give up 99.

          Lopez - 19.3 pts, 6.7 rebs
          Mayo - 16.3 pts, 3.7 rebs, 4.3 asst
          Harris 16.3 pts, 9.3 ast
          Favors - 10.3 pts, 11.3 rebs
          T. Williams - 10.5 pts, 5 rebs, 5.3 ast

Playing as the Magic, just won the Eastern Conference due to a little luck: In the second game of the Conference finals against the Heat, D Wade severely sprained his ankle, meaning he missed the rest of the series and it was easy from there. So far I beat teh Bobcats 2-1, beat the Celtics 3-2 and beat the Heat 3-1. Now I am playing the Denver Nuggets in a 7 game series, finally getting Jameer Nelson back. Here is my rotation:

            PG- Jameer Nelson
            SG- Steven Jackson
            SF- Rashard Lewis
            PF- Jeff Green
            C- Dwight Howard

            6 Mikhael Pietrus
            7 Quentin Richardson
            8 Chris Duhon
            9 Joel Pryzbilla

Feeling pretty confident about this next series.

              My Kings Franchise continues...

I rolled through the first round, ousting Charlotte. Now Im in a dogfight against Portland. The beat me at Arco in game one (Brandon Roy destroyed me!).

I followed that up with back-to-back wins in some of the best video game action I've ever had. What great games! Both were real tight affairs, the lead swinging back and forth through 3-1/2 quarters, before I finally pulled away. The crowds were crazy intense and the game played flawless. No BS WTF moments... Just awesome basketball.

              Notes:

              - Fernadez is deadly on his threes
              - Jason Terry was ICE cold for 3 qtrs in each game, but came up HUGE in the 4th, hitting big shots in each game. He told me later he appreciated my confidence in him
              - Andre Miller twisted his ankle and could NOT stop Tyreke down low.
              - Evans averaging 40!
              - Earl Watson and Beno have been excellent backups at PG
              - Lakers upset in round 1 by OKC!!!

This is without a doubt my favorite sports game ever. Love it!

Played two more games today in my Suns Association.

Game was one against the Lakers and we jumped out to a quick start building a 10 point first quarter lead. LA made a comeback midway through the 3rd quarter and actually took a 4 point lead before we were able to pull ahead and eventually win 94-88. Steve Nash was the player of the game with 28 points, 10 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

Game two came against San Antonio. In the game, the Spurs fed Manu early and often, he ended up with 44 points for the game. SA had a 16 point lead a couple of times in the game. We battled back to get within 5 but that was as close as the game got. SA finished the game with a 123-115 victory.

Our record now sets at 3-1 after our first loss of the young season.

Scrapped my Timberwolves plan and started out with the Bucks instead. Started really hot going to 3-0 but then I got my first loss to the hands of the Trail Blazers who really tore me apart with the inside play of Oden, Camby and Aldridge. Just finished off a 10 point win over the Warriors which has put me at 6-4.

Jennings has been missing since the Trail Blazer loss and Dooling has filled in and done a good job. Bogut has been huge for me around 20ppg and 13rpg so far and has been my go to guy since Jennings got hurt.

                  Next up the Lakers!

Thanks Marino! I try and keep it as realistic as possible, and controlling all-30 teams keeps it fresh....some might say doing so is too cumbersome but I see it as there's always something to do.

Who you running with in NBA2K? Knicks? I don't remember any of your updates...were you waiting for the patch to drop?

Yeah JBH3, I also love your updates since you rarely make trades and when you do they are very in depth and thought out with a lot of reasoning. Your summaries of games are also fantastic.

I don't know where Kully is but I also enjoyed his updates last year since he was similar to you as in keeping it real.

Hey...thanks for the feedback sam. Its good to hear that you guys like reading my updates, sometimes it seems they just get glazed over....Once I've completed my first season w/ the Mavs I'm going to upload all my instant replays to me 2K page for a "Season 1" montage . Should be pretty cool. Will keep the updates coming...

I don't think you ever DO have to start over. At least not in recent instances... I have to get a head start on the season so I can't afford to wait.

                              <O</O
Got in two good games...both polar opposites. First game was vs the Clipps...Mavs blew them out 112-97, in large part to a 40-22 2nd qtr. It wasn't Dirk, not Terry, not Butler who propeled them, but my secret weapon Roddy Beaubois...OK...he's no secret weapon since he's 4th in the league in 3pt% w/ a .465 percentage and 11th in 3's made w/ 94; which is pretty damn good considering he's only getting 18 mpgs. Anyways...Beaubois hit 7 3-pointers and the Mavs collectively nailed 13 to route the Clipps and end a Mavs 3-game losing streak. Beaubois would pour in 31 adding 2 boards, an assist, steal, and block in 36 minutes. Terry got the start at SG, but once I found the stroke w/ Beaubois he got all the minutes. Eric Gordon poured in 29 for the Clippers, knocking down 7 3's of his own and at one point trading off 3pointer for 3pointer w/ Beaubois. Mavs improve to 29-15 after the win.

Next up was Houston... they were hobbled too since Yao was once again out, broken wrist 2-4 weeks, and Brad Miller is nursing a sore hammy. Miller would still get the start, and would have a decent game.

This HOU @ DAL game was a GREAT one! Dallas got out to a 17 pt lead, only to go cold in the 2nd, scoring only 12 pts, as Houston scored 29, and the Rockets would take a 47-43 lead into halftime. My injuries got worse as I lost Beaubois to an ankle sprain early on; although he was only DTD and wouldn't miss any significant amount of time. Dallas begun the 3rd qtr on a 14-5 run, and jumped right back into it but it would eventually be tied at 78 all to begin the 4th qtr.

In the 4th Dallas starting pounding it inside, slowed the game down, and got to the line in bunches. The Mavs got to the line 14 times in the 4th qtr, and connected on all but one attempt. Those FTs would pay dividends, and the Mavs would end up winning a division battle 112-104.

Dirk poured in 29 and 11 adding 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block in 39 minutes. He shot much better in this game shooting 13-23; he had shot 6-16 in the Clippers game.

Caron shot poorly from the field but got to the line 6x making 5, and would finish w/ 15 and 5 + 2 assists and 2 steals. Jason Terry added 16 and knocked down 4 3-pointers, one of which came late in the 4th and pushed the Mavs lead to 9 pts. Shawn Marion was big too w/ 13 and 13 plus 2 steals and 2 blocks in 34 minutes, and JJ Barea played some valuable minutes w/ Kidd in foul trouble (3 fouls in 1st half). Barea would finish w/ 14 pts and 3 assists, having made 2 3-pointers.

Aaron Brooks was the Rockets leading scorer w/ 20... he really can nail some 3's, gotta play him tight. Brad Miller added 17 points on 7-10 shooting, but only grabbed 4 boards. The Mavs did a good job of canceling out Kevin Martin as he only scored 7 pts on 3-10 shooting.

Some Team Stats from the game:

                              FG%: Mavs 46%; HOU 48%
                              3's: Mavs 8/19; HOU 8/25
                              FTs: Mavs 30/32; HOU 14/18
                              TO's: Mavs 13; HOU 15
                              PIP: Mavs 38; HOU 38
                              Asts: Mavs 18; HOU 24
