Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

    I made a cavs franchise,

I traded away mo williams vaerjao gibson, joey graham, ryan hollins. and both my 2nd round picks.

I did get louis williams, jason kapono ,76ers 1st round pick and 2nd round, thabeet, ronnie brewer, jared dudley, pryzbilla and blazers 1st round and 2nd round.

Decided since antawn jamison is around for 2 years, ill build around him.

First season i decided to just develop each month and sim the games.
Developed thabeet in his post defense and jared dudley on his shooting.

I figured with a line up like this, theyre young inexperienced but my starters were ok players not great but not bad

    Pg- Louis Williams,
    Sg - Ronnie Brewer
    Sf - Jared Dudley
    Pf - Antawn Jamison
    C - Joey Pryzbilla

    6th man - Thabeet

Ofcourse no suprise i ended up having the 6th worst record in the league.

Off season came i resigned everybody except pryzbilla, i need to make space for the draft picks.

My projected picks were 6 (mines), 9 (76ers) and 12 (blazers)
    I got lucky and i landed the 1st pick , 7th and 11th pick.

I figured since i had a bad year and i do have first pick i might as well try to trade for the 2nd pick.

Offered the kings my 7th pick 11th pick my next 1st round and 2nd pick fromt he blazers and they accepted.

So i ended up with 1st and 2nd pick.

I drafted the best available which was.

    1st pick
Bryan Bender Rating 81 Like deron williams 6'4 pg/sg from washington state a+ potential

    2nd pick
Allan parker Rating 81 Like Kobe bryant 6'6 sg from valparaiso a+ potential.

Even though i had louis williams at starting point i figured i can move him to my 6th man.

    Free agency
I had 10 mill of cap space. I ended up signing Shannon Brown, Troy Murphy and car landry for my mid level.

I signed shannon brown because he was the highest value player i could get for the price of 8 mill. Troy Murphy only asked for 1.71 mill. Landry i got him because he could be a good back up for antawn jamison.

    ...

I am now in my 2nd year and in the nba finals against the lakers

I did make a few trades this season. Halfway into the season shannon brown was unhappy , same as carl landry. So i made a deal with the grizzlies.

I traded Brown, Troy Murphy and Landry to the grizzlies for Marc gasol , Glen davis and 1st rounder.

Yes i lose what i got in free agency but i do get a dominant defensive center and a big body pf that could relieve antawn.

Doing this made me get into the playoffs with the 7th seed.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just started an association with the Magic.
I did a fantasy draft and after preseason trades, my starting five looks like this:
        PG:Goron Dragic
        SG:Ray Allen
        SF:Kevin Durant
        PF:Carlos Boozer
        C:Anderson Varejao

What I really want to improve is my PG depth.
Maybe try to get Devin Harris or Stephen Curry.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Its funny because the shooting guard i drafted that was like kobe seems to have a body like ron artest. Regardless i won game 7 stephen jackson tried to shoot the 3 for the laks and i blocked him with thabeet grabbed the rebound and threw it to jared dudley halfcourt and shot the 3. Ended up winning 81-79

This was the lineup i won with

PG- Bryan Bender, Louis Williams, Avery Bradley
Sg - Allan Parker, Ronny Brewer, Jerry Stack house
Sf - Jared Dudley, Michael Finley
Pf - Antawn Jamison, Glen Davis, JJ hickson
C - Marc Gasol, Hasheem Thabeet

          Now off to off season,

That grizzlie 1st round pick was projected at 3rd and i got the 3rd pick. I ended up addressing the spot i needed, small forward

With the 3rd pick i picked up

Wallace knox sf / sg shawn marion built. 22 years old from new mexico a potential.

Also signed courtney lee for my mid level, best available with talent around

          --

On preseason, since i had 4 shooting guards i decided to put courtney lee and my new sf on trading block.

I got this offer from the bulls.

Courtney lee, wallace knox, and louis williams

          for

          Derrick Rose

Sounds like a good trade but i have a starting pg already. What do you think guys?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I changed my mind, if i did that trade i would have ****ed myself at the sf spot.

So i went another way pacers offered me Al farouq aminu, roy hibbert and there 2 1st rounders

            For

Ronnie Brewer, Louis Williams, Wallace knox (1st round 1st pick this year) and my 1st round pick.

I do get weaker at the pg spot but i do get a semi decent young player in faruq and a better back up center in roy hibbert.

this is what my lineup looks now

pg - Bryan bender (87), avery bradley (68)
sg - Allan parker (85) Shelden Stewart (81), Courtney Lee (75)
sf - Jared Dudley (76) , Al faruq Aminu (77), Omri Caspii (69)
pf - Antawn Jamison (76), Glen Davis (72), JJ hickson (71)
            c - Marc Gasol (82), Roy Hibbert (79), Hasheem Thabeet (68)

My roster stands at 14, Im thinking of cutting it down to 13. Was thinking of trading antawn jamison and 1 of my sfs for a decent back up pg.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a new Association with LA Clippers.

Really wanted a solid SF who could play tough defense and shoot the three, didn't like Ryan Gomes too much. So i made a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers:
              Ryan Gomes for Nikolas Batum
              Randy Foye for Wesley Matthews
              Brian Cook for Elliot Williams

              B.Davis E.Gordon N.Batum B.Griffin K.Kaman
              E.Bledsoe W.Matthews A.Aminu C.Smith D.Jordan
And some benchwarmers + sent Warren, Williams to d-league.

I absolutely love playing with this team, we're really good in defense, allowing about 89 ppg, Batum just held Granger to 14 points.

Griffin is averaging 27 ppg and 13 rpg, gordon is league's top scorer with 29.7 ppg, Davis has 9 ast and only 1 TO per game, Kaman is solid on the block.

The Clippers are 4-0 and we're only getting better. I have a Dillemma with the player development, cause the CPU can't develop their players like that and it makes it kinda unfair, should i only develop my 1st and 2nd year players or don't use the feature at all?

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I just traded for Anthony Randolph in my Wizards Association and he has been awesome for me. I don't have any great rebounders on the team and he has filled in nicely. While I plan on moving Blatche before next season, I like my rotation of big men for right now. Between Blatche and McGee with Randolph coming off the bench, I have some pretty decent athleticism in my bigs.

I think I need another Guard to help out.

PG - John Wall (84), Kirk Hinrich (75), Anthony Riley (60 NBA D-Leaguer)

                SG - Nick Young (70---->71) , Andy Rautins (59), Kareem Rush (58)

Young has been having a hell of a time staying healthy so far this season and is lacking on Defense. Hinrich comes in for him most of the time. Rautins was just a throw in on the Randolph trade and Rush is just my required 1 Mizzou player to have on the roster. I don't have much to say about Riley, the D-Leaguer as I just signed him to my squad (He was leading the NBADL in APG).

I'd like to find a SG/SF for my team who is a well rounded type of player. Give me a little offense if I need it but have a chance at slowing down some of the players in my division (Wade, James, Joe Johnson). Any suggestions? I'm wanting to trade Hinrich as I don't want a KU player on my team and he hasn't been playing to great this year.

Too realistic and challenging since even though I had the #3 seed in the East, I suffered a 4-1 2nd round loss to the Celtics. I swept them in the regular season, but in the playoffs, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were unstoppable from mid-range to the three point line and KG found youth serum and beasted Josh Smith.

During the season, I traded Jamal Crawford (he had an expiring contract and I can't play with him) and Jordan Crawford for Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow (thinking his 3-pt shooting would be an asset but I can't hit shots with him to save my life).

Devin has been very good, but he is fragile as hell. I thought he would be my PG of the future since Bibby is getting old and Jeff Teague isn't there yet, but he was injured three times this year for 2-4 weeks including getting injured in the first game against the Celtics.

Now, I'm in the Off-Season, hoping to draft or find a quality Free Agent SF who can score (Marvin Williams is trash) or C to lock down my inside defense (thinking about trying to get Marc Gasol or Greg Oden). The pickings are slim though. I'll put an offer out for 'Melo, but I'm sure I can't afford him. I just need to add some pieces around a solid core of Joe Johnson (All-Star and a beast on Isolations), Josh Smith (1st Team All-Defense and All-Star) and Al Horford (All-Star snub...he should have made it over Brook Lopez). I have 0 scoring options off the bench (guess that was the downside of trading Jamal Crawford).

This is my first day out the house and all week and I can't wait to get home to start playing again. I've even been successful in convincing my wife to read her Nook Color next to me while I play so it doubles as quality spouse time.

I had the 27th pick in the draft but was able to trade Marvin Williams (good riddance) to the Nuggets for the 15th pick. I guess they needed a replacement for Carmelo who signed with the Suns. I took a SF, C.J. Leslie, who hurt himself in the first quarter of the first preseason game. I traded the rights to the 27th pick for the Raptors' current second round pick and first round pick in next year's draft.

Just finished my third game and I'm 2-1. I lost to the Magic 89-88 on a Jason Richardson buzzer beater 3 pointer that was absolute painful. Joe Johnson gets lost on D sometimes and left him open.

I beat the Heat convincingly after D. Wade got hurt and just blew out the 76ers. C.J. Leslie came back from injury and exploded for 16 points on 7-8 shooting so he's looking like a winner.

                  My squad:

                  Starters:

                  PG: Devin Harris
                  SG: Joe Johnson
                  SF: C.J. Leslie
                  PF: Josh Smith
                  C: Al Horford

                  Reserves:
                  Mike Bibby (6th man)
Jeff Taylor (SF I drafted with the Raptors 2nd Rd Pick
                  Josh Powell
                  Zaza Puchilla
                  Anthony Morrow
Ben Cook (a 7'2'' 275lb slow-moving glacier who gets me a couple of rebounds and blocks and nothing else)
Maurice Evans (currently on the "Reserve" list behind my rookie SFs)
Jeff Teague (I want to get him more minutes, but there's no room)

I feel this team might be special depending on the play of my two rookie SFs. I don't think I can beat the Lakers yet, but I hope I can compete for the Eastern Conference Championship.

Oh...and Blake Griffin blew out his ACL and is out for the season. The Clippers curse survives even in the virtual world.

                  Injuries
Welp...the injury bug hit and hit hard. First Bibby (7 pts, 4 assists, calming influence off the bench) broke his wrist and is out 4-6 weeks. Very next game, CJ Leslie (10 pts, 6 rebs, 1 blk, 2-3 nasty dunks per game) broke his ankle and had some tendon issues and is out 6-8 weeks. this all happened right before I had a stretch to play against the Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Rockets (who are really good for some reason), Heat, Magic, and Bulls with 4 of those 7 on the road.

Before the injuries, I was the #1 seed in the East and had the best record in the NBA. After getting mollywhopped by the Spurs, losing to the Rockets, Heat and Bulls, I slipped behind the Heat for the #2 seed. Missing my starting SF and 6th man (Bibby) has been really tough. To make it worse, it's now past the trade deadline so I have to fight through it.

I recalled Jeff Teague and Gilbert Brown (my 2nd rd pick out of Pittsburgh) from the D league to try to contribute and it's just not the same.

I love the challenge and the realism, but it could make the second half of the season difficult. I've learned that I will need homecourt advantage to make it deep in the playoffs.

                  All-Star Snubs
This is some BS. As mentioned above, for most of the season I've had the best record in the NBA...so why do I only have one All-Star. Josh Smith (16.8pts, 9 rebs, 3.9 assts, 1.8 steals, 2.3 blocks, .515 FG%) made the team as a reserve for the 2nd straight year (he's also leading in DPOY and is 2nd in MVP voting) but Al Horford (14.6pts, 10.1 rebs) got snubbed...again and Joe Johnson (20.2 pts, 4.5 assts, 4.6 rebs) didn't get selected for the first time in forever.

Horford got beat out by Dwight Howard (deservedly) and Brooks Lopez (stat padder on a crappy team ). The last Guard spot went to Brandon Jennings. Brandon F---ing Jennings!! I know Johnson's scoring is down a little (it was 24 pts last season) but that's because the rest of the team has been doing outstanding and he doesn't have to score as much.

Anyway, the team feels disrespected and we plan on taking it out on the rest of my schedule...as soon as the injuries heal

The Miami Heat have won the NBA Championship!

The Heat defeated the Spurs in Miami in game 5 to win the series 4-1. After losing game one in San Antonio by 15 points the Heat then won a classic in game 2 100-98 and never looked back.

Lebron James won the Finals MVP averaging 26 points 8 assists and 7 boards.

The Heat took a trip to Washington DC (really nice touch Visual Concepts team!) and had a visit with President Obama.

The Heat is getting ready for a big off-season with many one year contracts on some key players expiring (James Jones, Big Z and Juwan Howard to name a few). It will be interesting to see what direction the Heat goes in as well as the draft in which it is widely known they are looking at PF/C as a major area of need. Heat president Pat Riley was non-commital on any players at this point.

The Heats first off-season will updated this week.

It was a very rewarding Association in this first year. I did play every regular season (82 in all) and post season game. And yes I will jump right into season 2 and play all 82 again.

This game rules them all for me.

Randolph is great in this game, i traded for him in my TOR franchise, pulls down 10&10...As for SFs who can challenge Lebron and such, i think Beasley is a good option, plus he can score too, but that's only if you don't mind screwing the T'wolves in a trade.

I'm trying to keep some realism in my Association for now. Only reason I traded for Randolph aside from me needing him was because I figured the Knicks might try and move him in real life since he isn't getting a lot of playtime. He wasn't getting hardly any minutes on the game either so I felt compelled to trade for him. I still think I ripped them off but I'll make up for it somehow down the road.

I didn' feel bad about trading for Randolph either, i gave NYK Ed Davis and a 1st rounder.

I gave them Josh Howard and a 1st and got back Randolph and Rautins. Rautins is pretty much a throwaway for me. I tried to have success with Howard but it wasn't happening. I like Al Thornton more anyways.

I figured the Knicks could add one more expiring contract in Howard to have even more money for FA this Off Season.

Congrats! Also...all 82 and all your playoff games....wow!

What was your final record? All in all...

Congrats, A&S! You're a beast to play all those games, too.

Keep us up to date on what you are going to do, slider-wise, heading into Season 2. I know you are bumping up to All-Star, so it'll be interesting to see what that does to your Association.
