Just completed my 2012 off-season with my Milwaukee Bucks..
After being knocked out of the 1st round of the playoffs by Melo's NYK, I entered the off-season with 2 1st round draft picks, my own(late-1st), and the Mavs (who finished a lottery team after long term injuries to nearly all their star players).
Pre-Draft trade:
Before the draft I moved Duhon(2yrs/$7.60m) for Hamilton(1yr/$12.65), and future 2nd. This freed up $9mil for the pistons the off-season, and gave me a reliable mid range vet.
NBA Draft Day
DET m.gilchrist
PHI q.miller
BOS a.rivers(from 10th in lottery, and yes CPU chose Docs Kid)
LAC m.teague
WAS b.beal
MIL j.mcadoo(from mavs)
TOR d.lamb
PHX j.richmond
SAC m.kabongo
...
#25 MIL l.nash (scouted him heavily throughout the season, loved playing with him in pre-draft workouts)
...
#34 MIL v.blue (After seeing Vander Blue drop to early second round I moved my '13 1st pick to WAS for 5th pick and selected V.Blue.)
Free Agency
After Letting Diaw go(chocked in playoffs) i picked up JJ.Hickson on a $3mill/year team option deal. I also inked Al Thornton to a 2 year $4mil deal to provide some scoring of the bench. Also signed Willie Warren for min contract which was good as hes rated 67.
Trade
Only other move was to trade future 2nd rounder & Q.Rich for Elliot Williams(POR), who was unsatisfied with his role behind Mathews and Roy. The deal also brought Devin Harris to POR.
Rumour
Was negotiating a deal for Monta Ellis, based around a package of Salmons, Sanders, McAdoo, and Valanciunas. May re-visit during the season.
BUCKS entering into 2012-2013 season...
Jennings(85)/Barea/Warren/Lamb
Hamilton/Williams/Salmons/
Young(80)/MbMoute/Thornton/Nash
Hickson/McAdoo/Brockman
Bogut(86)/Sanders/Valanciunas
If you think having a team stacked with stars is bad, try having a team stacked with role players. Hopefully I'm able to consolidate or cut loose to guys to bring my rooks out of d-league, looking at a deal that would bring Walton to mil for the 2yrs left on Salmons(a.k.a. dead fish) contract. May waive Warren and Brockman.
