    From the standings above:

The Nets went 11-4 in December pushing them into playoff contention in the East, but a horrific JAN going 3-13 may has put their playoff hopes into question. Good for them that they're in the East, and can still make up ground on an 8th seed...time will tell.

The Knicks, having held onto the #1 spot in the Atlantic for the first 2 months of the season, went 7-8 in JAN, and watched as the Celtics ascended to the top of the division.

The Wizards, having been a near .500 team through December, hit a major snag in January, losing 11 in a row en route to a 3-13 month. The young team seems lottery bound again, but at least John Wall is the stud that they needed.

To round out the East on a high note, the Bucks got things turned around after malingering around .500, putting together a winning JAN and likely cementing themselves into a 6th or 7th seed in the playoffs. Lastly, the Bulls...the class of the league through January...have maintained a #1 ranking on the Power Rankings for 5-straight weeks, and sit w/the best record in the NBA @ 35-12 after enjoying a 13-3 month of JAN.

In the West the Nuggets rose from the fire, mostly from the return of Melo who had only played in 3-4 games before going down w/ a broken foot, and enjoyed a 13-4 month of JAN to put the Thunder on notice that they weren't just going to walk away w/ the division.

The Jazz got their act together and put together a strong JAN going 11-7, and showing they've arrived for the playoff party. Much like the Jazz, the Warriors enjoyed a great JAN going 11-4, and showing the league that they can be a team to be reckoned with. Monta Ellis is among the top5 in scoring, and enjoying a healthy/great season. Meanwhile, in the Pacific the wheels have started to come off a bit for the Kings who went 6-10 in JAN, and slipped to the outside looking in. Still plenty of time to push back into the Playoff Picture, but are they really constructed for the playoffs?

In the Southwest, the battle continues between the Mavs and the Spurs. The Spurs continued their winning in January finishing the month w/ 8 wins in 15 games. San Ant enjoyed a 13-2 month of December that pushed them right back into the thick of things in the West. They fell back down to earth a little bit, but still maintain a very good record and are a definite title contender; they also inked a deal w/ Tony Parker, extending him for the next 4 years w/ an NTC to boot.

No. But in GAME ASSETS, it's a great deal for them. Joe should be fired because he could have saved the money for a year when there was quality free agents. Gordon isn't that horrible, he was just horrible for US. We had our guard spots and our SF filled (not that Gordon could play point or the 3 anyways) - that's a horrible signing.

Denver, on the other hand - desperately needs a scoring 2 guard to offset Melo. They get a decent young PF with decent potential to boot. By their in-game stats, the trades and the contracts are not horrible because THIS IS A VIDEO GAME.

If anything, it shows Melo that they are trying to bring in players to help him win. Ben Gordon *CAN* score. Villaneuva can play on the game, too.

I want them gone because living in Detroit, I know a little bit about Detroit basketball, and I hate them. Just because I hate them and want our beloved GM fired because I'm a homer doesn't mean that they don't retain their value IN THE GAME.

      EDIT: From memory, Charlie V is like a 3 yr./22m remaining, Gordon 3 year/28m remaining like 16m a year for 2 players.

Okay first of all, you get a 32 PF who has an expiring contract and you are saving over 16 million in cap space at least for the next 3 years. And one thing that Den does need is a 2 guard that can score. If J.R. Smith can do one thing, he can put the ball in the basket. So don't act like you doing Denver any favors. You are right Charlie V contract 3yrs/22.62 plus a 4th yr player option for 8.58. But Ben Gordon is 3yrs/ 34.80 Million w/ a 4th year player option for 13.20 Million. I agree that its a Video game and like i said in my previous post "If you're having fun that's all that matters." But don't come here speaking like your trade was anything but a robbery of Denver future. Antone with any basketball knowledge and see that. "Denver needs a 2 guard that can score."--Now that was funny. Next thing you'll say is, "Denver needs a PG that's fast. That's why I traded them Speedy Claxton for TY Lawson."

Edit: You keep saying its a video game, which i do agree, but you keep using real life to rationalize your trade. Kevin Love in the Doghouse, J.R. smith in the doghouse. There are no doghouses in the video game. And yes i play w/ chemistry and player roles on. When someone rating does does b/c of a role or lack of playing time, I just deal with it or try with or find out FAIR trades.

Do you even watch basketball? J.R. Smith rarely sees the floor anymore. If you want to talk realistic, then hell yes the Nuggets need a scoring 2 guard. Why do you think Arron Afflalo is one of the cool stories of the year? Durr....

21 MPG - 10 ppg. Hardly shellshocking numbers.

EDIT: In comparison, Afflalo plays 35 mpg. You think Ben Gordon isn't better than Afflalo?

2nd Edit: I looked and saw that Smith had 30 pts on Sunday. So, you can see the type of season he was having if he poured in 30 and his average is still only 10. He still doesn't start.

You keep using real life as a way to rationalize my trades being unfair which makes that all the more funny. You either use real life or use 2k's "reality", take your pick.

If you go by ratings (we kind of have to, don't we?) Gordon is a 78, Charlie a 71. Both have above average potential ratings and are reasonably young. Kenyon Martin is only 4 points better than Charlie, while 7 years older and no potential. Yes, he is an expiring contract. I do need to get some benefit here, I would be trading who WOULD BE my Starting SG and PF!?!? Both under 27!??! THE CPU offered me Kenyon and their 1st on trade finder, I didn't ask it for the trade.

Why is it because its the Pistons they aren't realized as assets? Ben is like a 19 ppg career scorer and has never been given starters minutes anywhere.

Then to get Wesley Johnson I give up *3* first rounders and Tayshaun Prince, and I'm the token guy for unfairness in trades? LMFAO.

            Overall Recap l

Where's the defense? We're giving up a NBA high 112.0 points per game. Third year big man Kosta Koufos has taken over the starting job, I've played alittle with Kevin Love at center and Michael Beasley at power forward with Brewer at small but it doesn't work Beasley's number took a hit and he can't defend most power forwards down low so I went to Koufos he seems to do small things that I like. Kevin Love has missed 3 games with a twisted ankle and is listed as day to day, Anthony Tolliver has filled in nicely. Wesley Johnson earned rookie player of the month in the month of November, he earned it he has lived up to the high draft pick in the off-season. Johnny Flynn is back in the line up so hopefully with him back we'll start getting some wins for coach Rambis. We end the month with 4 road games Trail Blazers (15-11), Nuggets (16-8) (LAC (9-17), Cavaliers (11-14), and host 3 Jazz (14-12), Hornets (11-14), Nuggets (16-8) hopefully we can pick up 2 wins and end the month on a positive note.

i play the first couple weeks of the season, and then i play whatever games interest me, or when i have to take over if they're on a losing streak. i tend to sim more and more as the season goes along, just because of impatience

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

I just started a franchise with the Spurs, 9 minutes (12 sim) on Pro, 29 game schedule, and my first game's against Oklahoma City.

Tony Parker and Chris Quinn are my point guards. Quinn's at the end of the bench though and he shouldn't get much pt. George Hill will hopefully get a lot of minutes as backup PG as he's the sixth man coming off the bench. Neal is a role player and Ginobili is starting. I've got RJ starting of course and James Anderson as my backup SF. I upped their potential a good bit (Hill to 86 and Anderson to 93) so those two guys along with Splitter and maybe Blair look to be the future of my team. Duncan is starting at PF, his backup is Splitter, who will also be playing some center and Bonner is going to be a bench warmer PF who can play some SF if necessary, I think I put him at 6 minutes a game. Blair is my starting center and McDyess is the backup. Both of them will get minutes there and at PF.

Figured since we just signed him in real life I'd sign Ime Udoka and place him on the IR. If RJ gets hurt, Anderson starts and Udoka is the backup. If Anderson gets hurt, Udoka is the backup. He's a good insurance on the team. I can also make him a SG if any of them get hurt. I don't mind if he had to get some minutes in the first year, he's my best perimeter and post defender.

I'm kind of hoping Donatas Motiejunas out of Lithuania falls in the draft to me, 7 footer at PF who can shoot, play defense, and seems to have no glaring weaknesses.

I really applaud your efforts here. It has to be rewarding, although somewhat frustrating to be 6-20. Despite your losing now, I think the core of Love, Beasley, and Johnson could be a very good one given a couple of years of growth. Flynn...I don't know about, but he's avg'ing 21/gm so I guess you're good w/ him...? He's a volume shooter though right? Not much of a facilitator? I don't know...guess I'm not a big fan of undersized PGs.

                  So what's your plan?
Looking for a pedigree center to fill out your front court?
Anyone you're eyeing in the upcoming FA class?

What do you do with Martell Webster?

I like your updates, and for your sake hope you can win some more games. Keep it steady and grow your stable of players and I bet you'll be winning in no time.

                    Da Bulls

Oklahoma City came to town to visit the injury-riddled Bulls. In case you haven't heard in my last user played game against the Celtics D. Rose got injured (severe ankle sprain-1 month) and so did Booz (back strain-2 weeks).

My starting lineup for that game was:

                    1.Watson
                    2.Bogans
                    3.Deng
                    4.Gibson
                    5.Noah
                    6. Brewer
                    7. Korver
                    8. Asik
                    9. Thomas
                    10. Johnson (called up from NBDL)
                    11. Beverley (FA, 1yr-1.44M)
                    12. Scal

                    So for the game...

I started out the first playing good team ball. I was creating open shots and getting stops on D. The result of this was a pleasantly surprising 23-22 lead. Not much, but pretty good when your best starter is Joakim Noah.

The 2nd was a TOTALLY different story. I couldn't get shots, I was making turnovers. It got so bad that our crowd was booing us. Almost all of our points came from the line and we were outscored 29-10. The score entering halftime was 52-33; Thunder.

CJ Watson and Taj put on their best performance in the 3rd quarter, leading the Bulls to 28 points that quarter. The only problem, we gave up 33. I guess good offense comes with a price...

The 4th quarter was easily the Bulls best of that game. Finally getting their Offense and Defense to work together, but it was the same ol' story of "Too little, too late" The Bulls proceeded to outscore the Thunder 28-16 that quarter behind Watson, and Gibson's phenomenal 2nd half. But with the Lack of time it still resulted with a big L. The final score was 100-89.

The Bulls have now dropped four in a row since the departure of Booz and Rose, and have dipped below the .500 mark falling to 9-10 after there 9-6 start.

Some players did have good game but basketball is a TEAM game which the Bulls didn't play, here are some stats:

                    Bulls:
                    CJ Watson: 39 Min, 30 pts, 5 reb, 12 ast, 3 stl.
                    Taj Gibson: 34 Min, 18 pts, 9 reb, 1 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk.
Luol Deng: 41 Min, 18 pts, 7 reb, 4 stl.
                    Joakim Noah: 35 Min, 4 pts, 15 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 4 blk.

                    Thunder:
                    K. Durant: 29 Min, 21 pts, 4 reb, 7 ast, 3 stl.
                    J. Green: 31 Min, 18 pts, 9 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk.
                    S. Ibaka: 30 Min, 12 pts, 7 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk.
                    J. Harden: 28 Min, 12 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl.
                    R. Westbrook: 30 Min, 10 pts, 2 reb, 8 ast, 3 stl.

                    Team Stats: (CHI/OKC)
                    FG%: 36%/42%
                    FT%: 75%/87%
                    Ast: 24/24
                    TOs: 16/17
                    Rebs: 54/55
                    Stls: 12/13
                    Blks: 6/5

Hopefully I can bounce back and not wreck my record to much before Booz and Rose return.

                        Golden State Warriors.

First game I won against the Clippers 75-81.

I just traded Monta Ellis to the Spurs for George Hill, Richard Jefferson, and two first round draft picks. I figured RJ, Dorrell Wright, and Rodney Carney are good enough at the SF position for this year and if I want I can try and work a trade in the offseason to get the top pick of the draft. Harrison Barnes maybe.

                        Stephen Curry
                        George Hill
                        Harrison Barnes
                        David Lee
                        Andris Biedrins

                        That's pretty sick.

With all the issues of my player mode, my guy getting corrupt after the patch im gonna start a association, but what ima do is create my guy and just use playerlock. Im not gonna rate him too high as I wanna give him room to grow but he will start. Probably gonna play for my hometown Knicks. But would love to play for the Warriors, I love their new court although 2K got the yellow wrong.

Really hard to keep pace w/ the Thunder offensively, and get a win w/ such a shorthanded team. I probably would've tried to shoot the lights out w/ Korver. Don't know what your 3pt shot attempts were, guessing that was unsuccesful though...?

I extended Parker...looking at it again it was 5yrs/$61.25M. I also extended Battier for 3 yrs, and tried extending Barea and Butler for the Mavs but I'm over the hardcap and will have to wait till the offseason.

I've played 36 games w/ the Mavs, and played 12 or so w/ the Hornets. Back on the Mavs full-time though.

Season1 [as] Mavs (All-30 Teams) Association:

                              TRIPLE DOUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recorded my 1st triple double in 2K11 w/ JKidd. The triple double came against the Celtics, my 2nd game of the month of FEB....more on that game in a minute.

To backtrack, the Mavs start FEB on the road for 3-straight @NYK, @BOS, and @CHA. Beat the Knicks handedly 96-87 as Dirk started FEB off w/ a bang going for 34 and 10 in 40 min. Shawn Marion added double double of his own w/ 15 and 10 in 39 min, and Gallinari lead the Knicks w/ 16/5/5 in 34 min. Amar'e started off nicely, but tailed off finishin 7-19 w/ 15 and 13. Raymond Felton played all 48 minutes, but not to the advantage of NY because despite 10pts, 4 boards, and 14 assists he shot an ugly 4-17.

Next up was the Celtics... The 1st qtr finished in a 19-19 tie, both teams not really busting out. 2nd Qtr would be the Celtics best, but it only resulted in a 4 pt lead heading into halftime. In the 3rd Qtr the Mavs got it going, and out played the Celtics to the tune of a 30-16 output to go up double digits into the 4th. By the 4th Qtr Kidd needed only 3 assists to secure (what I think would be) his 105th career triple double.

To conclude the Mavs beat the Celtics 86-75 to win their 2nd-straight road game. Dirk lead all scores w/ 26, adding 9 boards. and 2 assists on 12-24 shooting. Caron added 20 in 34 minutes + 3 boards and 4 assists, and Kidd finished w/ 12pts/11rebs/10asts/4stls while shooting 3-10, and knocking down two 3's.

Why was Boston so horrible? Shooting 38% as a team....Because Ray Allen went 3-14 and KG, albeit hobbled by a leg injury, shot 6-21. Paul Pierce lead the C's w/ 18 pts and added 9 rebounds, but other than KGs 12 pts the Celtics had only one other player score in double digits and that was Rondo w/ 10 who also added 5 boards, 11 assists, and a steal in 38 mins.

Despite shooting just 1% better than the Celtics at 39%, the Mavericks took advantage at the FT line converting 15 of their 18 attempts for points. The Celtics got to the line 10 times converting on 70%. The Mavs also had one of their best games as far as ball security goes having only turned it over 6 times to Boston's 13.

Up next, @ CHA...then there may be a couple games I can SIM.

Searching for deals to make at the deadline....had pondered moving Nash to the Knicks, but the Suns are in the hunt for a low-seed in the playoffs and I only wanted to move Nash if the Suns were a losing team. With that said, the Wizards have lost something like 12 straight now, and I was thinking about maybe moving Arenas to the Knicks. Thoughts?

Just did a fantasy draft with the Golden State Warriors. Don't know why I keep choosing them, but I guess it has a lot to do with the new jerseys, they are sick. Best ones since The City ones.

PG | Steve Nash (Star) - Goran Dragic (Role Player)
SG | George Hill (Starter) - Marco Belinelli (6th Man) - Rashad McCants (Bench Warmer)
SF | Trevor Ariza (Starter) - Andres Nocioni (Role Player) - Adam Morrison (IR)
PF | Boris Diaw (Starter) - Louis Amundson (Role Player) - Luke Harangody (Bench Warmer)
C | Dwight Howard (Star) - Tyson Chandler (Role Player)

I think it's a pretty sound team. Goran Dragic is there when Steve Nash retires, but I'm hoping I can find a better starting PG of the future, maybe in a draft. SG is a strong position, I upped George Hill's potential to a 93 and he's going to be a star for me one day, he can score very well in the game. Belinelli will take on a former Ginobili type role coming off the bench as the 6th man and while he was a bit of an after thought, I might try and develop McCants a little. I brough in Ariza because he was a level above the other SFs still available. Great defender, solid shooter, and he does a great job at driving to the basket, that's all I need out of my SF. Nocioni needs to be gritty, he should get some time as a small ball PF and Adam Morrison is available if either of them get injured. I wouldn't mind trying to make something out of him.

PF's obviously the position that currently needs the most work. Diaw's an average starter, Amundson's not a long term backup, but he'll give me quality energy minutes, and Luke Harangody's going to be developed into an outside shooting big, PF/SF. With Diaw being a decent 3 point shooter that puts four guys out on the court starting who can spread the floor for Dwight Howard. Center position has to be the best on the team by far. Dwight Howard is the best center in the league and Tyson Chandler is a great backup. Those two will keep any teams with good bigs in check. 6'11 and 7'1 respectively and they're both good athletes.
