Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

So far I'm 20-10 with the Bucks, sitting 0.5 games ahead of the Bulls (who just beat me by 9). I just upped the difficulty to Superstar so hopefully my record evens out soon. I've had some huge wins this season; wins that have really surprised me. I beat the likes of the Celtics, Hawks (twice), Lakers (twice), and Magic. That being said, I made a few trades to attempt a rebuild at the future, while still cutting payroll and increasing talent. I feel like I have my playoff team set up, and I really like it.

Here's the trades I've made, followed by my players' stats.

    1. Bucks trade: Michael Redd (CLE), Chris Douglas-Roberts (MIN), Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (MIN)
Cavaliers trade: Alonzo Gee (MIL), Antawn Jamison (MIN)
Timberwolves trade: Michael Beasley (MIL), Kosta Koufos (CLE)

    2. Bucks trade: Drew Gooden
Grizzlies trade: Hasheem Thabeet, '11 2nd round pick, '12 2nd round pick

    3. Bucks trade: Corey Maggette
    Kings trade: Carl Landry

    Point Guards
Brandon Jennings: 13.0 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 9.5 APG
Keyon Dooling: 3.7 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 4.3 APG
Earl Boykins: 1.5 PPG, 0.7 RPG, 2.8 APG

    Shooting Guards
John Salmons: 13.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.8 APG
Carlos Delfino: 9.4 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.4 APG

    Small Forwards
Michael Beasley: 19.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 1.3 APG
Ersan Ilyasova: 5.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 0.6 APG
Darington Hobson: 1.1 PPG, 0.7 RPG, 0.7 APG
Ed Jacobs: 1.0 PPG, 0.5 RPG, 0.0 APG

    Power Forwards
Carl Landry: 16.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 0.9 APG
Larry Sanders: 5.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 0.5 APG

    Centers
Andrew Bogut: 18.2 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 1.4 APG
Hasheem Thabeet: 1.4 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 0.3 APG

    (Bold designates starter)

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a Cavs franchise last night. Needless to say, I simmed the first season so I could get to the rebuilding -- the computer finished at like 33-49.

Two notable trades were made during the season. Towards the beginning, I made this:
      -Baron Davis
      -Christian Eyenga
      For:
      -Luol Deng (CHI)

Of course, Luol tore his MCL two days later. At the beginning of my 11-12 season, it says he needs 2 to 4 months to recover still.

Two days before the trade deadline, I got an offer I couldn't refuse: Hickson and my '12 1st Round Pick for Kevin Love (MIN). Hickson puts up nothing but bricks, and K-Love is a beast.

Also, when I started the franchise I didn't have the Clippers first round pick, so I trade-overrided for that.

Anyway, my season is just about to start. The lottery was just drawn, and I didn't make many moves before that. I did pick up Brandon Rush from the Pacers though. Here's the current roster and what picks I have to use:

      Kevin Love
      PF (83)
      Luol Deng
SF (80, at 71 due to MCL)
      Antawn Jamison
      PF (79)
      Ramon Sessions
      PG (78)
      Andy Varejao
      C (72)
      Brandon Rush
      SG (71)
      Patrick Beverley
      PG (65)
      Samardo Samuels
      PF (65)
      Daniel Gibson
      SG (65)
      Semih Erden
      C (60)

I have 2 First Round picks, as I said before: Cleveland's #1 and LAC's #3. I ended up drafting Kyrie Irving and Terrence Jones, respectively. I also picked up David Lighty (OSU) in the second round.

Here's my starting lineup for the beginning of the season, at least, until Deng gets back:
      Irving (PG)
      Rush (SG)
      Jones (SF)
      Love (PF)
      Varejao (C)

When Deng returns, Varejao will be out and Jones and Love will both be in the frontcourt.

I probably won't sign more than one person during the free agency, nobody big either.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Awww hell, I done figured out the shot stick releases. After losing my first three games by a combined 70 points, my Pistons are on a two game win streak, beating Boston at the Palace and the Hawks at Atlanta.

Might be time to find some tougher sliders, I can't do real FG %.

Tyler Hansbrough complaining about his minutes even though he's a starter and gets almost 30 a game. Gonna monitor that and make sure he doesn't start affecting the chemistry.

Yao is also complaining about his minutes, but what can I do? The guy gets fatigued so fast, I have to limit his minutes to keep him effective. What do you want from me Yao?

Austin Daye is the main benefactor of my new shot stick mastery. This guy keeps the net wet. Glad I kept him on the team. His release is so quick you barely see him setting up for a shot before seeing the ball splash through the hoop.
        PS: You guys are great.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started my Cavs franchise last night. I control all 30 teams so I can try to control some of the ridiculous CPU trades.

Like the above poster, I too simmed through my 1st season in order to start my rebuilding process...

I made all the deadline trades right at the deadline, some of which were pretty tough and involved 2 or 3 trades to complte - IE - Melo to the Knicks.

Anyway, I had the Cavs 1st and the Clips 1st. I literraly hit the lottery and got picks #1 and #2 (first try, I swear I didn't "cheat" )

I drafted Kyrie Irving and Harrison barnes with the my 2, 1st round picks. I drafted 3-point specialist Jon Diebler from Ohio State with my 2nd round pick.

I signed a few lower leval FA, (C) Joe Prizbilla for his rebounding and deefnse. (PF/C) Brandon Wright, big, young, decent potential so I took a flier on him.

My starting lineup looks like this.

          PG - Kyrie Irving
          SG - Baron Davis
          SF - Harrison Barnes
          PF - JJ Hickson
          C - Anderson Varejao
          6th - Antwon Jamison
          BN - Ramon Sessions
          BN - Brandon Wright
          BN - Joe Pryzbilla
          BN - Manny Harris
          BN - Daniel Gibson

I haven't made any trades mainly because I'm afraid of "ripping off" the CPU. I'm gonna be looking to move Barron Davis and Antwon Jamison, both are old and unhappy for so reason. I might also be looking to deal Hickson because I can't seem to do much with him, and he is a FA after this year, and I don't really wanna pay him $10mil/yr...

Any tips on a "fair" trade I could look for???

Just played my 1st game of 2011-2012 and lost to the Hawks, 97-85... Irving and Barnes both had 20+.

          Thanks. I'll keep everyone updated...

The way I see it, Davis is immovable. I mean, he's got two years and $27m left on his contract. Who's gonna want that? Besides, your Cavs got exactly what they wanted out of it: a draft pick--and the top two at that! Perhaps next year you could try and dump him onto another team as an expiring contract, but I don't see many options till then. As for Jamison, he's at the end of his contract, and with $15m coming off the books like that I'm sure you could shop him to a team looking to either rebuild or shed some serious cap space. (But what team needs such space, and who would they trade? I dunno. Maybe you could send him to Philly, and reunite Davis and Elton Brand. (Kidding!))

But Hickson! Now he's a fantastic bargaining chip. Despite your lack of love for him, he's a solid, young player that could do wonders for one of your CPU-controlled teams. (In the first year of my Clippers association he's averaging 22pts/10rebs as a starter.) He'll be a restricted free agent at the end of your second year, so if you can stand using him till then, maybe you could do a bit of sign-and-trade magic in the 2012 offseason.

              Thanks for the insight.

I agree that B.Davis is pretty much stuck with me for this season. I just hope I can make him happy so he doesn't drag my team moral down. He is my starting SG right now, I'm not sure why he is pissed...

I like Hickson, but, I just suck right now. I'm not sure how to do all the moves in the post and its frustrating. I tried to do the "post offense" drill with him, and I literally missed 18/20 shots... I drop step, get a clear lane and it just misses? Maybe I'm doing something wrong lol.

But yeah, I might try to shop Jamison, I'm not sure what I could get in return cuz I wouldn't wanna take on 15mil for too long.

I would like to get a shot blocking Center - IE - Greg Oden, but agian, I don't want to rape the CPU... You think Hickson for Oden would be something fair?

He'll expect a lot of playing time as starter. If you're able to free up room on your roster, maybe you could slot him in as your sixth man, where he'll expect fewer minutes. Then you could have Sessions or Gibson start.

You just gotta play around with him. Don't use the skill drills, but rather the post-up practice in the coaching menu. That way there's no pressure and you can take all the time you need, while also working on your post defense. It was a huge help for me. For instance, though I nailed Kaman's post-up play right off the bat, it took me quite a bit of practice to understand how Griffin works with his back to the basket. But in the first game I played after thoroughly practicing with him, he had a beastly 40pt/13reb game. It's worth a shot, anyway, and if you decide after that you still don't like him, bam, trade him away.

As for specific trades, I'm gonna leave that for tomorrow (or rather, later today). It's 5:30 in the morning and I gotta sleep.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

The Miami Heat regained home court advantage in round one of their Eastern Conference matchup with the fiesty New Jersey Net's. After getting behind by as much as 13 in the first half James Jones hit qa 3 with 5 seconds left in the first half to cut the elad to 6.

The Heat were able to claw and scratch and go into the 4th quarter down 3. Both teams were trading heymakers throughout. The heat then went on a brilliant 15-3 run in the 4th quarter led by the Big Three. Bosh got down and dirty in the post in the 4th quarter to score 11 of his 18 points. Lebron James continues to dominate this series putting up 29 points and grabbing 16 big boards. Dwayne Wade who is spliting time at both PG and SG poured in 24 and dished out 6 dimes. Mike Miller off the bench added 12 points. The Heat went on to win by a final score of 103-98 as the Nets made one last furious run that included 3 steals on 3 consecutive possesions.

The Heat now lead the series 2-1.

After long consideration I am actually going to start my association over after this second season comes to a close. I unfortunatly had the intentinal foul bug curse me and I really am totally annoyed as I had a dozen games where it was needed! The Patch did not cure in progress Associations!

Also with all the trades that happened I will now use the most up to date roster (so I get to have Bibby at PG now).

Funny I don't mind starting over after 2 full seasons. This game is still as fresh and awesome as it was the day I got it.

I've seen this happen with Felton on DEN, even though he's their starting SG he wants out. Maybe you need to change his primary position to SG?

I've chose the Wizards for my association.

                        PG: John Wall/Jameer Nelson
                        SG: Nick Young/Brandon Rush

                        PF: Jeff Green/Serge Ibaka
Center: Andre Barginari (However you spell it)

Rate and fill my wholes please.

P.S: I like more of a 3 pointer game so this team pleases me.

If you throw your first rounder in there you can probably get rid of Baron Davis for a pretty decent young player you might be able to develop but Baron for someone straight up wouldn't happen unless you trade him for a person with a 1 year huge contract that way you get to dump that salary at the end of the year

I started my 29 game chise' out with the Timberwolves. I'm glad they always leave me a good team to turn around every year.

Anyways haha, I simulated the first year so I could go through the draft and start on the second season. Currently my line-up looks like this:

PG - Johnny Flynn (A beast once he grows a bit.)
SG - Monta Ellis (Warriors offered a trade for Beasley, a few picks, and another player, don't remember. It was a little unrealistic I think, but I couldn't resist.
SF - Wes Johnson (Also awesome once developed a bit.)
PF - Al Jefferson (Yes, I traded Kevin Love back for Jefferson. I needed a post presence.)
C - Greg Oden (Pretty good when you turn off injuries. xD)

                            -Jason Maxiell
                            -Wayne Ellington
                            -Nolan Smith
                            -Darko Milicic
                            -Austin Daye
-..players I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm around 8-5 so far. This team has been a blast to play with. Really loving 2k11, just got in to it at the beginning when a friend lent it to me.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Just played my 2nd game of my Cavs association.

Cavs lost again, 117-100 to the Nets.

I was hanging in there with them all the way, only down 4 - 7 points all game long. I just could never get over the hump.

Then, in the 4th qrt, the Nets got hot and stroked it at 65% for literally the entire 4th qrt.

Kyrie Irving was breaking down Deron Williams all game long but it seemed like he missed about 4 layups, also, the body contact on the "challenge" of these layups is pissing me off. Guys are riding Irving's back as he goes for the layup and he dont get the call. Weird...

Fellow rookie Harrison Barnes goes for 28pts but couldn't do much late in the game as the Cavs went cold, 40% from the field in the 4th qrt, at the same time the Nets got hot, 65% in the 4th qrt.

I started my 3rd game of the season, @ Phoenix, right now I'm only down 2pts, 40-38 midway throught 2nd... I saved and quit and I will finish that game when I get off work...

Anyone got any tips on how I can get these guys to "finish" at the rim? I feel like everytime I go for a layup the ball simply rolls off the rim...
