Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Started off rough w/ my Knicks franchise by going 1-3, but I'v won my last 3 to get above .500. Wilson Chandler left last game with a sore back and is out 2 weeks, though. Sucks. Jason Richardson has come up huge for me lately, scoring 20+ the last couple games.
Oh, right. Thanks.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I just played two of maybe the best games ever on 2K11.
So The Miami Heat came home (3 games left in the season) to face their nemesis the Boston Celtics. Down Dwayne Wade it was going to be a very tough task. The first quarter had a post season feel already as both defenses were clamping down. 20-20 after one and 45-43 Celtics at the half. The third quarter starts and again tooth and nail as Lebron is taking this team on his back and has scored 38 through three quarters. The Celtics then break out and go on a 10-0 run to start the 4th but the Heat battle back to within 4 points with 2 minutes left. Miami get's a huge stop and then Lebron goes down and calls for a clear out....he takes Pierce off the dribble and tomahawks a signature dunk + 1. The Heat are down 1. Then the Celtics use their classic drive and dish as Rondo cuts to the hoop then dishes to Pierce who then rotates it to Allen...swish. He drains an 18 footer. Celtics by 3. Lebron again calls for a clear out but this time drives and dishes to a waiting Mike Miller who drains a monster 3 pointer. Game is tied with 31 seconds left.
Boston calls a full timeout. They set up a play for Garnett and he responds by driving to the hoop on Bosh and get's the finger roll +1! A dagger with 9 seconds on the clock (just 2 ticks on the shot clock as it rolled in). The Heat set up a play for Lebron or Miller with Jones as a third option. The inbound goes in to Lebron who goes to the top of the key, pump fake nothing, swings to Miller then to Jones for a corner three.......clank.
Celtics win in a huge win that sets the Heat back a full game from the #1 seed going into Atlanta.
Lebron finished with 51 points 8 dimes and 11 boards. MVP here he comes. And I should have taken a three with him in retrospect.
So the second night of a back to back the Heat must face Atlanta in what will likley decide the number one seed. Also the Celtics are on there heals and tied for the second seed but would win the tiebreaker as they won the season series 2-1.
Atlanta comes out smoking and by the half lead the Heat by 22 points. A misrable shooting night for Miller, Jones and Bosh struggling as well. Lebron is doing everything he can to will his team back into this game. Well the Heat woke up and went on a 16-3 run to start the 3rd period. By the time they start the 4th quarter the Heat had cut it to an 8 point lead. With as little as 4 minutes left the Heat cut it to 3 and never got closer as the Hawks and Joe Johnson put the Heat away. Horford was a beast on the boards grabbing a personal best 23 rebounds. Jamal Crawford killed the Heat as well with 22 big points and Johnson finished up with a team leading 33. Lebron again led the Heat with 44 points. Bosh woke up and added 23 and Miller got really hot and poured in 18. Josh Smith is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury (huge loss for the Hawks, he was lost 2 weeks before this game)
The Heat are truly missing Wade and according to team doctors will not be back for game one or two of the post season.
As it stand the Heat are going into there final game vs Toronto tied with Boston who lost as well. It will take a Heat win and another Boston loss for the Heat to secure the 2nd seed and face The Bucks. If the Heat falls to the third seed they will face the Knicks in the first round. To be honest I don't care to face the Bucks who have owned me (3-0) this season. For some reason they match-up really well and have given me all kinds of problems. I have handled the Knicks (2-1) this season and don't mind facing them at all. I just want Wade back ASAP!!! He should be available by game 3 of the first round.
Exciting stuff and a great first season thus far.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Season1 [as] Mavs (All-30 Teams) Association:
Gonna hop back on my association tonight...beginning the 2010-11 Playoffs. Had been on a Madden11 binge as of late, but back on NBA2K for the longhaul.
My Mavs will face off w/ the Jazz in the opening round. Should be able to run through these guys pretty easily since Paul Millsapp is out for 2-4 weeks. Another BIG blow to a playoff team was the Lakers...Pau Gasol broke his ankle on the 2nd to last game of the season and will be out 8-10wks effectively ending his season.
Lakers will have Odom starting at the 4, and Bynum is back and healthy...they can still be a force, but the injury to Gasol severely hurts their chances of repeating.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Started a 29 game Association with my beloved Pistons. (6 minute quarters, playing every game)
Goal #1 was to clear cap room for a run at Carmelo Anthony next summer (or to give us a redo from the 2003 draft, if you will), while goal #2 was to get bigger and purge some of the excess 2/3 types on the roster.
We made 4 trades before the season tipped off, completely revamping our roster (Note: Trade override was/is OFF, so all trades had to be approved by the CPU team as well).
Trade 1: Detroit and Phoenix
Detroit Receives:
- Steve Nash
- Josh Childress
-PHX 1st round pick, 2011
Phoenix Receives:
- Rodney Stuckey
- Richard Hamilton
- Jason Maxiell
- DET 1st round pick, 2011
Trade 2: Detroit and Denver
Detroit Receives:
- Kenyon Martin
-DEN 2nd round pick, 2011
Denver Receives:
- Josh Childress
- Charlie Villanueva
- DET 2nd round pick, 2012
Trade 3: Detroit and Sacramento
Detroit Receives:
- Jason Thompson
Sacramento Receives:
- Jonas Jerebko
- Will Bynum
Trade 4: Detroit and Oklahoma City
Detroit Receives:
- Eric Maynor
- Byron Mullens
- OKC 2nd round pick, 2011
Oklahoma City Receives:
- Ben Wallace
- DaJuan Summers
- DET 2nd round pick, 2011
Why I made the moves:
1) I wanted to play with Steve Nash and to dump Rip Hamilton's horrible contract (also allowed me to move Ben Gordon to starting SG). I had to take on Childress's not-so-great deal, but I planned on moving it right away anyway. Nash only has a 2 year deal as well, allowing me the chance to get 2 good years out of him before parting ways (or he retires).
2) Kenyon Martin provides a decent PF option and an expiring contract after this season. I never liked the Villanueva move in real life and moving him allows me to develop Austin Daye and give Tayshaun Prince playing time this year (Prince also has an expiring contract).
3) Jason Thompson provides much needed rebounding and above average post offense. His post D leaves something to be desired, but for 2.2 mil this year and a 3 million dollar team option next year, I liked the move. Also, I had no plans on keeping Jerebko AND Daye, so moving one of them was important. I wasn't going to let the inclusion of my backup PG hold the deal up, either, so Bynum was included.
4) Ben Wallace will never be forgotten for his '04 title contributions...nor will he be forgotten by us Pistons fans for making it 4 on 5 every time we had the ball. Eric Maynor was the perfect backup PG candidate and I can trust him to start if Steve Nash goes down. Mullens has an expiring contract (well, team option years, but I'm not exercising those), and Maynor also has 2 team option years at 1.52 and 2.34 mil respectively. With K-Mart and Thompson starting, I needed some minutes to throw to Greg Monroe to help him fulfill his A potential. Thanks for all you've done, Ben, and maybe you can get a ring in OKC.
With all the moves, I am only firmly committed to about 27 million dollars in salaries next year (with more potentially in team options). Detroit will be a big player in the 2011 free agent market...and can take on a big deal via trade should that not pan out.
2010-2011 Detroit Pistons
Starting 5
PG - Steve Nash (36 mins)
SG - Ben Gordon (36 mins)
SF - Tayshaun Prince (32 mins)
PF - Kenyon Martin (32 mins)
C - Jason Thompson (30 mins)
Bench
SG/SF - Tracy McGrady (24 mins)
C - Greg Monroe (22 mins)
SF/PF - Austin Daye (16 mins)
PG - Eric Maynor (12 mins)
The Pistons are aiming to get back into the playoffs this year and believe they have the team to do it. Championship material? Probably not, but with Nash running the floor, this will be a fun team to watch and could pull some surprises along the way.
Updates to follow.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
season 1 with the phoenix suns.
Currently the end of january and we are sitting .5 game up on the lakers. The lakers have been hit with injuries to gasol and bynum and have been on a bit of a slide to help us sneak into first.
My team has been playing a fast tempo offense and it has been working out well. With 3 pt shooters like nash, dudley and frye we are leading the league in 3 pt %. Hopefully my team keeps playing well.
Coming closer to the trade deadline im thinking about picking up another bigman preferably someone who can shoot. My 2 options that i have been interested in are charlie villaneuva and troy murphy. Both players have a solid outside shot and thats what i am looking to bring in as we have 5 players at the sf position.
i was thinking either
suns get villaneuva (pf) 71 rating
detroit get Michael petrius (sf) 71 rating
2012 2nd round pick from suns
or
suns get troy murphy (pf) 72 rating
nets get michael petrius (sf) 71 rating
2012 2nd round pick
any thoughts guys?
thanks roabsComment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2041978475 (to see a reminder of trades / the roster)
7 games in and we've won every other game to get off to a 4-3 start. The worst part is, we probably could be 6-1 right now if not for a couple of bad closing minutes at home against the T-Wolves and at Houston.
Pistons: 47
Clippers: 41
* Led from start to finish against the Clips, despite the score being close.
T-Wolves: 50
Pistons: 47
* Missed two layups in final minute and barely missed game-tying three as time expired.
Bobcats: 31
Pistons: 41
* Jason Thompson leads the team with 13 points of 5-7 shooting. Nash fills the stat sheet with 6 pts, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Heat: 45
Pistons: 38
* Pistons led at half and held LBJ to 10 pts on 5-14 shooting, but Wade and James were both key in a 3rd quarter that saw Miami outscore Detroit 21-14
Pistons: 50
Bucks: 37
* Detroit went on a 17-0 run after falling behind 12-10 and never looked back.
Pistons: 42
Rockets: 45
* What could have been...Detroit fell behind 23-7 and came back to tie the game at 36 entering the 4th. Pistons had the ball multiple times in the 4th with a chance to take the lead, but couldn't do it. This one still hurts.
Pistons: 49
Mavericks: 46
* Detroit led by 10 in the 4th and Dallas forced a tie with under a minute left. Pistons had the ball with 35 seconds left and Nash drove to the hoop and missed an easy layup. Somehow, Thompson grabbed the rebound and Detroit got possession again with 27 seconds left...so we couldn't quite hold for the last shot. With 7 seconds left, Nash made his move and got past Kidd. 3 Dallas defenders collapsed on Nash, who kicked it out to a wide open Ben Gordon for 3...swish. Gordon's 3rd 3 pointer of the game and Detroit led by 3 with 2.7 left. Dallas's inbounds play went to Dirk who threw up a 3 that just missed as time expired. Pistons survive a tough road game...and NBA 2k11 yet again shows its awesomeness.Comment
