I'm going to start up a cavs association later today or tomorrow. I'm planning on simulating the first season, after that I'll try to get the first round draft picks in order. Does anyone have any suggestions of the easiest way of doing that? I was thinking of just putting force trade on, but I wonder if controlling all of the teams would be easier.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Still enjoying my Association 10 years in but the things that are really turning me off to it are:
CPU allowed to go way over the HARD cap and still are able to sign free agents
Superstars sitting in free agency is so annoying. I currently have a 96 rated player only 27 yrs old who just won the last 4 MVP trophies unemployed. Atleast at some point in the season the CPU snatches up a couple of them even tho they only have to give them the mid level amount.
Still have screwy CPU signing logic. Teams draft and sign same positions of high ratings the same offseaon ignoring real needs. The Bulls resigned D.Rose during free agency and then signed Russell Westbrook & Johny Flynn at the same time. Ofcourse they were all over 90 rating and got long 20 mil + a year contracts.
Then those things are the main reason around the league most teams have 0 team chemistry and a bunch of angry players...
Im wondering if every year I lowered draft classes potential rating maybe that would have helped this craziness...
Also the lack of decent coaches, trainers and scouts. You have to make sure you have a low cost coach so you have staff budget and wait for one of the CPU teams to fire theirs during the season, then snag him up, what a rating boost to your team.
Also ofcourse the 6/20 date where almost all the teams fire and play switcharoo with the coaches. And your not allowed to play with them.Last edited by mustardnmayo; 05-31-2011, 12:52 PM.Go Broncos. Go Wizards.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Have you tried Superstar? That's what I've been using because I find HOF to be, well, cheap. I'm all for the AI setting up plays, or improvising, or even taking the tough/contested shots that end up going in, but in my play with HOF it seems the math is skewed just so the computer gets a bucket. It might be worth it to try Superstar, or even All Star, and play with the sliders. You've got a lot of options there, especially since you can give the CPU different settings than you use.

Tough loss. I gave up the ball 14 times that game. Celtics are pretty tough in this game...they steal the ball a lot more than any other team and can make almost any basket even with a hand in their face...and O'Neal got a lot of blocks for being that old against my young front court. I've updated my blog to reflect this game!
well i did try to play as them on sim sliders and then i adjusted tem but it was like i was getting beat at every postion. so i rebuilt the whole team. i was loosing close games to teams as worst as i was and getting blown out by the top teams.

lol I know what you mean. I'm losing a lot of close games right now. However I'm doing smaller adjustment instead of tossing the whole team. I'm getting better with Evans and Cousins, and Casspi is fun off the bench. Other than that, I traded Garcia, Thornton, and Udrih to pick up Nelson, Harden, and Wright.
chris paul is 26.7 ppg, 9.9 apg, 2.4 spg all while shooting 50% from the field, 47 from downtown and 82.9 from the freethrow line. he also plays 35.7 mins agame
dwight is getting 18.9ppg, 12.6rpg, 1.3spg, 1.9bpg while shooting 53% but good thing is he only getting 2.5 fpg so he playing 37mins a game.
i understand what u meant about just making lil trades and improving your team but when i went againest the knicks lost by 18, heat lost by 24, and boston lost by 24 it was like i gotta gt me some stars.
i also saw this other post where this guy got gay, paul and howard so that played a part in me getting those two cause i was tryin to get them on the same team since i did my last association. but these two work better together becuse they play good defense and the offense runs natural when you have a pure point guard and pure center.
With having a big two and not a big three i was able to built my bench stronger and have solid role players instead of just having three people being my only offenseComment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
See I'm trying to formulate my team around the 2004 Detroit Pistons. I want a team of 5 out their that all have there roles and know how to score. Sure, have a player that leads the way with scoring, but have the ability for all 5 to score and pick up the pace when one has a bad game.
It's harder this way, but I think if I can do it, I won't be able to lose. I just have to get to that part. Right now I'm content with my PG Jameer Nelson, my SG/SF Tyreke Evans, and my C DeMarcus Cousins. James Harden still has work to do at SG, and Jason Thompson is a solid defender at the PF, but can't score well. Trying to draft a good PF this next off-season since I have 3-4 1st round picks (through trades)Can the Kings turn it around? Come watch my NBA 2K11 Association!Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Went into Game 7, and lost to the Spurs in the Finals. I'm thinking of erasing this Association, archiving it on my website and making a new Association and instead of simming it actually play the games. Sound like a good idea?Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
WOW! I just played the single greatest game that I have ever played in any basketball game. It was my first game playing HOF (using Redlogic's sliders). I was just hoping for a more competitive game after 2 15 point wins. Well it was the 5-1 Kings (81 overall) against the 1-7 Timberwolves (79 overall).
We got off to a nice start leading by 5 at halftime. In the 2nd half they came out hot. They outscored us 29-20 in the 3rd and giving them a 4 point lead going into the 4th. We came out cold again in the 4th. Evans had his worst game of his career finishing with 8 points on 3-18 shooting. They went on another run and our offense couldn't get anything going.
With 57 seconds left, Beasley hit a fastbreak lay up to give them a 94-83 lead. We had falled apart and the game was over, but not so fast. Rookie Jimmer Fredette put his cape on and was ready to take control. We ran a simple play that gave Jimmer a good look from 3 at the left wing. Splash its in. 94-86 with 40 seconds left. I decide not to foul and just try to get one more legit stop.
Johnny Flynn tries to pass to Beasely from the left wing. Jimmer tips the pass and steals it. Jimmer running the fastbreak with Flynn trailing right next to him. He stops and pulls up for 3 at the top of the key, nails it. 94-89 with 28 seconds left. We foul and Johnny Flynn makes both. 96-89 we call timeout.
We inbound to Jimmer at the left wing. Pump fakes, dribbles over to the top of the key, pulls up with a hand in his face, makes it again. 96-92 with 17 seconds left. We foul again and Wesley Johnson makes 1 of 2. 97-92. Timeout again.
We run an inbounds play for Jimmer. He catches at the left corner, shoots a 3 with his toe inches behind the line, he made another one 4 in a row! 97-95 13 seconds left. Johnson makes both free throws this time and we call our final timeout down 99-95.
We run the same inbounds play on the opposite side this time for Jimmer. He gets it and shoots with no hesitation, got it 5 in a row! 99-98 with 9 seconds left. They can't get the ball in, they lob it near the halfcourt line to Beasely, Thaddeus Young steals it! Down 1 Young keeps it himself, tries to drive right but he's cut off. Pulls back out. Drives left and pulls up for the tough shot, FOULED. Johnson bumped him going up. Young calmly nails them both and we take the lead 100-99. They call time with 2 seconds left. They inbound to Johnson for a deep 3..... its off! We win 100-99.
We scored 17 points in the final 40 seconds, 15 by Jimmer. He had 21 total points in the 4th, 35 for the game shooting 8-13 from deep. This will rival with the Kings 35 point comeback a couple years ago for best comeback in Kings history. Jimmer Fredette is for real!
Like I said earlier this was with Redlogic's exact slider set with the user 3 point shooting at 46. Jimmer's 3 point rating is 83 but it was up to 85 for this game because I scheduled a light shootaround the day before the game. I know this was a pretty long read but I'm just so pumped that I pulled that off. Hopefully it was worth the read.Comment

Feels good to get an easy win after my loss to the Celtics, especially against one the best teams in the Association right now. Blog Updated to tell more of this game. We actually had a 21 point lead at one point. DeMarcus Cousins isn't showing his true colors like he did early in the season. Next up we have the Timberwolves, whom we beat earlier in the season by a good amount.
And for you New Jersey fans, this just rang on my headlines:
Nets GM to team: 'Expect immediate changes' Dec 7
Nets are 8-5 right now, with Williams, Vujacic, Outlaw, Humphries, and Lopez as the starting 5.Last edited by sYn Shepard; 05-31-2011, 08:09 PM.Can the Kings turn it around? Come watch my NBA 2K11 Association!Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
2nd Year of my Pistons rebuild - have a really nice team IMO. Only FA signing was Marcus Thornton.
PG Irving 77
SG Thornton 77
SF Deng 80
PF Boozer 85
C Monroe 74
6th Man DeRozan 75
Acquired Boozer and Deng for Gordon, Prince and Stuckey in my 1st season. Acquired Xavier Henry and a 1st for Ben Wallace and someone else (I forgot). Got the 3rd overall pick. Bobcats took Williams, and the Nets took Burks, so Irving fell to me. Signed Thornton in FA. Traded Xavier Henry for DeMar DeRozan who was unhappy.Last edited by raidertiger; 06-01-2011, 02:49 AM.Comment
