Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Since Perkins is only hurt in real life and not in the game, it may be a fair trade. You two would be basically swapping PF's and C's. Championship experience vs youth and inexperience. I'm not sure if that trade makes either team better.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

cheers for your response mate! I was sorta thinking Id have to overpay to keep both on the team come free agency and with cap space being important when I gotta rebuild those two players from the kings come cheap.....havn't bitten on it yet though.....trade value make Cousins unavailable anyway haha

Its nice but it would have been a little more fair if you added Eric gordon to the trade as well.

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Hey guys. Normally I enjoy helping people out when they're looking for feedback on this thread, but I don't believe I've ever contributed because I have never found an "it" team that I am so enamored with, that the last phase is to make sure other simheads like it as well. I'm not going to draw out all the trades, because this is more about rating the team I ended up with via the trades, than the trades themselves. But they were all legit as due to a large video-game/simulation sport guilty conscience, I really can't do the trade override thing.

First things first, I decided after trading for Kevin Love in a different franchise or two, that after watching his incredible, historic performance, and Beasley's 42 points on a different night, that I would roll with the T*Wolves as I had never used them before or even played a single game as them in any basketball game, ever. They're obviously a very young team, and I didn't want to waste a ton of cap space trading for someone like Arenas, Iggy, or all the other names that show up via trade finder. So I decided to build a team based on potential, youth, and the ability to all be around the same age so that they can grow together and hopefully become a powerhouse at some point.

PG - Jonny Flynn, Sebastian Telfair
SG - Terrence Williams (6th Man), Corey Brewer
SF - Michael Beasley, Wesley Johnson
PF - Kevin Love, Anthony Tolliver
C - Andrea Bargnani, DeJuan Blair

I only mentioned the players that are going to actually see playing time. There's a few other guys on the team but I can't see any of them getting on the court, especially since I use 9 or 10 minute quarters.

I'm currently using T. Will as a 6th man because he's great to run the offense through when the starters are resting. He's great on isolation plays, can create his own shot, gets to the foul line real well, and can also hit the 3 ball when given enough space. Not to mention he's a ferocious finisher.

As you can see the trades I made were for Bargs (Gave up a 2011 1st and 2012 2nd for him, with a couple other players). T. Will, and DeJuan Blair. I wound up getting rid of all my draft picks to acquire those guys and had some players leftover that I knew were going to grow unhappy with their playing time (M. Webster especially). So I traded Webster and one or two other players to Cleveland for their 2011 and 2012 1st round picks. After the moves I made, I have roughly $12 million in cap room.

On paper this might actually look like a stacked team, despite my highest rated player being a 76. But in the rankings you see before you start a practice or go into a game, we're 26th offense, 30th defense, 28th overall. So it'll actually be a very difficult team to win with.

A lot of these guys are inconsistent right now in real life, and it shows in their "consistency" rating in the game as well. DeJuan Blair will have nights where he goes for 15 points and 15 boards, and the next game has 2 points on 1-7 shooting and grabs 3 or 4 rebounds. Which is great because that accurately reflects where he's at right now in the NBA. T. Will hasn't really found his role with the Nets so I believe with what I gave them for him, it's a very plausible and realistic trade. Here he has a chance to win 6th man of the year or most improved player.

My biggest concern right now, and it's probably quite obvious, is shot blocking. DeJuan is a heck of a rebounder, and Love is a circus freak of a glass eater as well. But neither one of them are anywhere near prolific shot blockers, both would be below average for their positions I would think. Bargs gets 1-2 blocks per game in real life, and so far through 3 games in this young season he's averaging 1.6 for me. Outside of him, I don't have a shot blocking big man. Fortunately, with the rebounding of Love and Blair we've been able to heavily out-rebound the opposing team in all 3 games. I also have a 3rd great rebounder in Beasley because he's going up against 3's now so he's able to outmuscle them in the post and get some boards when Love/Blair/Bargs are tied up. I always felt he was a bit undersized for the 4 spot. I'd rather use length and play big like the Lakers.

So far here are my stats 3 games into the season (starters, plus top 2 bench players).

Jonny Flynn - 15.3 PPG, 10.2 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.9 Turnovers Per Game
Corey Brewer - 2.9 PPG, .8 APG, 1.9 SPG (only use him about 15-18 minutes per game and use him primarily for corner 3's and defense).
          Michael Beasley - 16.9 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.9 APG, 1.3 SPG
          Kevin Love - 16.2 PPG, 13.5 RPG (4.2 Off.) 3.9 APG
          Andrea Bargnani - 17.1 PPG, 8.9 RPG (2.9 Off.), 1 APG

          6th Man - Terrence Williams - 15.8 PPG, 5 RPG (1.4 Off), 3 APG, and 2.2 SPG
          Wesley Johnson - 9.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, .9 APG, 1.4 SPG

As you can see, it's very balanced, everyone does a great job with sharing the rock and scoring equally so teams have a hard time whenever they decide to double someone or leave their man for help defense. I've never had a team so balanced in terms of scoring output. We're also 2-1 on the season.

All that being said, and I know that was really detailed so I apologize for the long read, but I enjoy doing write ups like this. What do you guys think? Were they good trades? Will we be any good this season? Squeak into the playoffs? Will we be good a year from now? Two years? Or will we be stuck in a seemingly never-ending pattern of the T*Wolves being lottery bound?

Thanks for the input and for reading.

I really like the team you've put together. I started mine before the regular season and I traded Beasley straight away, thinking he wouldn't perform. Of course, after seeing him carrying the team in real life recently I regret it now. I traded him for Perkins to try to solve both the shot blocking and Darko issues. He went on to win defensive player of the year and led the league in blocks.

Our benches went in completely different directions. Webster is my key scorer when my bench is in. I run a lot of plays for him. I also recommend Pekovic over Tolliver is you still have him. I found him to be pretty effective for his rating, but you seem to have thought everything out very well and it looks like you'll do well. All those guys will keep developing and you'll be able to add depth over time. Champions within 5 years!

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

I'm playing as the Bucks and am looking for an upgrade at the SF position (I'm not a fan of Maggette, especially with his age)

              Is this a realistic trade:

Milwaukee gets: Andre Igoudala, Jason Kapono (to match salaries)

76ers get: Michael Redd, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Larry Sanders, 1st round pick.

I wanted to throw in a second 1st rounder, but I can't add anymore to the trade. My thoughts were the 76ers are looking for salary relief (Redd's contract is expiring) and young players (Sanders especially seems to fit them, while CDR could come off the bench behind Turner).

Is that still too little for Iggy? Any way to be more realistic? Maybe trade Maggette and a pick for another prospect?

Otherwise I'm going to try and acquire Batum (Actually seems like he'd be harder to pry away from the blazers realistically).

              Thanks in advance!

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

erragal - I understand that you're not a fan of Maggette, because as of a few months ago I wasn't either. Not in real life, that is. Watching the Warriors play a few times the last couple of seasons, he makes unbelievably stupid decisions, plays matador defense, and checks himself out of a game almost entirely if he can't get his shot going. Scott Skiles is the exact type of coach to bring the best out of him because with his build and athleticism there's no reason he can't be a much better all around player, and especially defender.

That being said, in 2k11, he's surprisingly really great to use. I kept him on the Bucks in my most recent 2 team franchise (Wolves are the other one, the team I wrote about a few posts above this one.) And I can honestly say that he is really incredible in this game. His shot, though it looks the same, has some subtle tweaks to it and it's much, much better this year in terms of release point and natural timing. I use him and Michael Redd as 6th men because Redd is great to shoot with whenever you need 3's and mid range jumpers. You just can't sleep on him.

Back to Maggette, he comes off the bench for me and provides a huge spark every single game. He's really great to use in this years game and if you haven't tried to use him yet, or only used him once or maybe twice, I really recommend bringing him off the bench and attempting to run your offense through him (when at least 3/5 starters are resting) for a couple of games. In my most recent game it was tied in the last 2 minutes of the 1st quarter and he wound up scoring on our next 5 offensive possessions giving him 13 points in just 2 minutes. He's currently averaging (Though I'm only 5 games into the season) 19.6 points per game for me and 6 rebounds.

In NBA 2k10 I only ever used him as trade bait because I just felt like no matter what I couldn't get it going with that guy. In 2k11 I'm glad I hung onto him because the dude is instant offense and there's no way I would trade him this year.

I realize your initial trade proposal was with Redd, and not Maggette, I'm just advising you to at least try what I mentioned and see how it works out if you actually attempt to get him going and run the offense through him. He's a beast, I promise.

Then again we could have every different styles and you may love bombing 3's, which he's not very adept at. He's a dead-eye mid range shooter and is absurdly dangerous if you ISO him. Not to mention he's great at not only getting to the rim (solid dribbling for a SF) but has also converted more And 1's for me than nearly any other player I've used in the past month or so since the game dropped.

In real life Iggy is always being shopped around and there's always rumors. So it's not unfathomable that they would trade him to the Bucks. I think it's a good fit for both teams. I can't remember off the top of my head, is Redd's contract expiring? If so, then it would really make sense for the 6er's to take that deal. They'd get 17 million off the books, get a 1st round pick from a Bucks team that could finish anywhere from 5-8th seed in the east to being lottery bound. CDR is thought of as a solid prospect, and Larry Sanders is also a 2 1/2 or 3 star player (His 2k11 value in trade finder) so they would get 2 prospects, if indeed Redd's contract is up after this year, they'd get a huge expiring deal, and a 1st round pick. I would definitely say that's worth Iggy. So I'd pull the trigger because you shouldn't feel any guilt for that one.

Shoot me a message or respond on here and let me know what you end up doing and how it works out for you. I hope this helps you.

Traded away Daniel Orton for Nets 2011 1st and 2nd round picks. I figured i could really use the Nets picks because they'll probably be rather high. I have Serge Ibaka as my back-up to Dwight anyways.

If you're going for realism, that's not realistic at all. Daniel Orton just got picked #29 in this last year's draft, while the Nets 2011 first round pick is guaranteed to be a lottery pick, and probably top 5. If you're not going for realism, good trade.

Ouch. Any time you get rid of LeBron, it is a terrible trade. But yeah, it's your association I guess.

I think the Sixers have backed themselves into a corner with all the rumors and will have to settle for less than Iggy's perceived value. I'm not in love with him-- he looks like Joe Johnson in that he is an overachiever who works hard to get his numbers.

Also, remember that expiring contracts have value on the trade market and that LS is considered a good prospect with really nice potential. What is CDR's contract situation? I think the 1st was too much and depending on CDR's contract, I don't know (as the Sixers) if I would do the deal. If you can drop the first and CDR, I think it's a nice trade but off the top of my head I can't remember what the Bucks SF/SG situation is, so I don't know if it makes sense for them.

IRL this works, because of trade exceptions:

but NBA 2k11 doesn't have trade exceptions, so you'd probably need to alter it, I guess if CDR works that's o.k. but then I think the Bucks might object IRL. I'd throw in a 2.

                            Sixers

                            Chris-Douglas Roberts
                            Michael Redd
                            Larry Sanders

                            Bucks

                            Iggy
                            Kapono
                            2nd rd pick

                            One that I like is:

                            Sixers

                            T. Prince
                            G. Monroe

                            Pistons

                            Iggy

A young big and cap space would be perfect.

I understand that ORL wouldn't trade Orton, but I found him to be too slow and not as defensively adept for my taste. Obviously he's raw but I couldn't pass up a sure-fire lottery pick.

OKC trade James Harden, Jeff Green, 11' 1st RD, 12' 1st RD to LAC for Blake Griffin.

OKC trade Cole Aldrich, Thabo Sefolosha to WAS for Nick Young, Kevin Seraphin.

Realistic or not in your opinion guys?
