Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Started an association with Detroit for the challenge of rebuilding...
Made these two cost-cutting moves before the trade deadline:
      (simming 1st season)

Trade to get Melo to New York:

      Detroit gets:
      SF Gary Forbes
      1st rd pick(NY)
      C Eddy Curry(Expiring Contract)

      Nuggets get:
      SF Wilson Chandler
      SG Ben Gordon
      PF Anthony Randoph
      '12 1st rd pick DET

      Knicks get:
      SF Carmelo Anthony

I didnt get much more than an extra pick and some much needed cap relief but it get Melo to NY and doesnt totally shake up NYs core.

      Pistons get:
      SG Jason Richardson(expiring contract)
      '11 1st rd pick

      Magic get:
      SG Rip Hamilton
      C Ben Wallace

Got this one off trade finder... helps add bigman depth and a better shooter for Magic and gives Pistons more cap flexibility.

With both trades it gives the Pistons over $20 million in extra cap space and gets them 2 extra 1st rd picks for the offseason. Surprisingly, the Pistons made the playoffs, 8th seed! I'll post the roster on the association thread.

Thats a good idea... I only made it past the draft lottery. Noticed Melo declined the extension with the Knicks. I might just redo these trades in a new assoc. knowing that they work and adjust Melo's contract so he doesnt leave New York.
I felt like I was forced to resign Stuckey. He is the biggest asset I have and letting him walk in FA would really hurt rebuilding. He wanted 10 mil a yr. I gave him a 1yr contract w/ player option. Im probably going to trade Stuckey before the draft and try to get a true PG in the draft. Unfortunately, my 3 1st rd picks are only 15th, 19th, and 20th respectively. I'll use those along with Stuckey to move up in the draft.

i know how u feel cause i felt the same way when i resigned him to. one thing that made it ok to sign him is changin his postion to shooting guard because i got back a player that remind me more of dwade in away.he plays better off the ball.

Yea he is better off the ball but I think Im going to use him as trade bait.. I like bigger guards at SG and his outside shooting doesnt make up for his lack of size so Im gonna trade him...

56 games into my Lakers association (following the real schedule) and I had a low morale Shannon Brown and Ron Artest has been playing TERRIBLE...so I decided to pull the trigger. Let me know what you think...I think this deal had secure my Lakers a 3 peat. I was shocked the CPU accepted it.

Lakers trade: Shannon Brown, Ron Artest

Pistons trade: Tracy Mcgrady, Charlie V

Guess it's time to get Mcgrady a ring...lol

shannon brown has a high morale, getting 30mpg and is the starting PG but still doesn't want to resign with the team once his contract ends. he has a season and a half left on his deal. i'm thinking about trading him now to let my young PG get some playing time and develop. any suggestions on who to trade brown for? i'm looking for a good back up PG that could also play the SG.

Someone you might want to consider is Terrence Williams of the Houston Rockets. He has the playmaking ability to play PG in the game, and can drive and finish when put at the 2 or 3 spots.

So if your goal was to develop your young PG, you would still have TWill to back him up and also contribute a lot in other areas of the game.

You could try editing Brown and changing his primary position to PG instead of SG. See if that makes a difference.

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

First off getting Kevin Durant on the Bulls, without giving up Derek Rose is impossible. With that said I started a Bulls association and wanted to get Rose and Durant on the same team. I made 9 trades in total to get my team where I somewhat wanted it to be.

Trade 1) Traded Boozer to Cavs for Mo Williams and '11 1st
Did this to reduce cap space and get another 1st round pick.

Trade 2) Traded Deng to Thunder for Nick Collison and '12 1st.
Did this because I attempted a trade for Durant and they said that they didn't want to give up a SF right now.

Trade 3) Traded Noah and Mo Williams To Grizzlies for Rudy Gay.
This is where I started to trade up for a good player to try and get Durant.

Trade 4) Traded Rudy Gay and '12 1st to Jazz for Deron Williams.
I know this trade doesn't make any sense but it was just another piece to the puzzle.

Trade 5) Traded Deron Williams, '11 1st, Taj Gibson to Clippers for Blake Griffin, Randy Foye, Ryan Gomes, and Willie Warren.

Thought about stopping here because I know Blake turns into a beast but I wanted Durant.

Trade 6) Traded Blake Griffin, Randy Foye, Ronnie Brewer and '11 1st to Nuggets for Carmelo Anthony and Sheldon Williams.

I did this because I thought the Thunder would bite if they received Anthony, along with some 1st round picks, but they didn't.

I decided it would be the Rose and Anthony show but my team still wasn't set so I made 3 more trades using the trade finder.

Trade 7) Traded Nick Collison to Kings for Samuel Dalembert.
Needed Collison's very very bad contract gone.

Trade 8) Traded Ryan Gomes, C.J. Watson and '12 1st to Rockets for Courtney Lee and Brad Miller.
Did this because I needed a decent SG and another big man. Plus I always liked Miller.

Trade 9) Traded Willie Warren, Brian Scalabrine and '11 2nd to Magic for Brandon Bass.

Needed a starting Power Forward and was shocked the Magic even offered this trade.

So now my team looks like this

                              PG- Derek Rose (89)
                              SG- Courtney Lee (71)
                              SF- Carmelo Anthony (93)
                              PF- Brandon Bass (71)
                              C- Samuel Dalembert (70)
                              6th man- Kurt Thomas (68)
                              Role- Keith Bogans (67)
                              Role- Brad Miller (66)
                              Role- Kyle Korver (65)
                              Bench- James Johnson (62)
                              Bench- Omer Asik (59)
                              Bench- Sheldon Williams (60)

I am probably going to try and trade some bench players for a back up PG because I know Rose can't play every minute of every game.

My first game was a great one too. I did player lock with Rose and beat the Thunder 111 to 93. It was the first game I actually enjoyed playing.

Rose was a beast this game as he had a triple double (56 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds). Anthony chipped in with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The surprise for my team was Courtney Lee. He had 15 points and was 3-5 from 3 point.

So even though I didn't get my Durant/Rose combo I think I still have a great combo with Anthony/Rose. Now I just need to lock them both up long term.

Wow, thats a whole bunch of trades, but you lost quite a couple of players, but nice lineup
