Creation Process & Rookie Showcase

I tried to create a player to replicate me as best as possible. I added 3 inches to my height, as I've had trouble in the past in "My Player" when I make my guy 6'0" (makes it impossible to get shots off).

I scored 26 points on 8 of 18 shooting (6 of 12 from three) in the Rookie Showcase. Also, had 4 assists, 1 rebound, & 1 steal, and most importantly, we got the win.

Interested Teams, Pre-Draft Interviews, & NBA Draft

The first team to interview me was the Charlotte Bobcats. They tried to sell me on playing with D.J. Augustin, but I pretty much told them that if they drafted me, I would take over his starting role, and that I would be the future of the franchise.

The next team to interview me was Golden State. I, honestly, had no interest in playing for them, as they have several young guards on the roster (Curry, Ellis, Lin, & Law). So, I told them that I really couldn't see myself playing there and that I didn't think it would be a fit for me.

The Phoenix Suns were my next suitors, and I really wanted to give all of the right answers, as I thought it would be the perfect opportunity. Play behind Steve Nash for a year, at most, then take the reigns. Also, I loved the thought of playing wide open at the point, and running pick and rolls left and right. I answered everything with the best possible answer, and they said that if I fell to them, they would take me.

However, I had one more interview, with a team that picked before Phoenix; the Utah Jazz. I told them that I thought I could see myself being the future of the franchise and that I wouldn't mind spending an entire career there, a la John Stockton.

The Jazz picked 12th, just one pick ahead of Phoenix and, wouldn't you know it, decided to choose me to back up Devin Harris, and take the franchise into the future.

Career (So Far)

In my first game, I scored 6 points on 2 of 8 shooting (2 of 5 from three), dished out 2 assists, and stole the ball 3 times against the Rockets.

Two games into my young Jazz career, Devin Harris went down with an injury, and missed a couple of weeks. Thus, Earl Watson & I were given the opportunity to play serious minutes, and I capitalized in my first game with a good amount of playing time (18 minutes). I went 8 for 17 (6 of 12 from three & 4 of 4 from the free throw line), scoring a still career high 26 points in a 5 point victory over Houston. I also picked up 3 assists and 2 steals.

Since then, I've only played one game (I'm doing the "Play Next Key Game" thing), it was against the Lakers, & I had a decent showing, but we were beat pretty easily. I had 18 points on 7 of 16 shooting (4 of 10 from three).

Recently, the Jazz have made 3 trades. They traded Derrick Favors & Paul Millsap for Al-Farouq Aminu & Blake Griffin. They traded Devin Harris & Ronnie Price for Kirk Hinrich & Jamal Crawford. And, they traded Gordon Heyward & Mehmet Okur for Andrew Bogut & Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. (2K should really tune down the trade frequency in My Player. Or, at least make them realistic.)

Restarted my MP with a more appropriate age for a rookie. Also bumped my height up to 6'2". Played much better in the rookie showcase, since the first time I jumped right in after doing the training camp. Stat line: 14pts, 3rebs, 8asst, 1blk, 1stl, 2TOs. Started out cold in the first half but picked it up in the second by scoring 11 pts. Got drafted 12th, I think, to the Jazz. Looking forward to the season. I plan on playing all the games, so it might take me a while to get thru my rookie yr.

About to start boosting Shoot Low Post up early in this 3pt shooting offense, I dont really fit in yet. I dont get any mid-range plays at all. So I have to work on Low Post now

I think we(Rockets) have the worst record in the NBA. I believe it is 80% my fault. I just dont fit that team. I dont have the consistent 3pt shot and I dont have the post-up game yet. I have a great mid-range(with space needed). But, I dont get any plays. I am getting 17 mins. I am barely any XP since I barely get shot oppurtunities. I might do some teammate spending so I get the ball more. Best way to get shots down for me is to get into triple threat position and create space. Best game so far 18 points.

Made a PG and got drafted by the Jazz, bout 12 games in was starting to heat up, and was really, really looking forward to gettin the starting posistion soon, next game, BOOM! we got Rondo... damn.

I think we(Rockets) have the worst record in the NBA. I believe it is 80% my fault. I just dont fit that team. I dont have the consistent 3pt shot and I dont have the post-up game yet. I have a great mid-range(with space needed). But, I dont get any plays. I am getting 17 mins. I am barely any XP since I barely get shot oppurtunities. I might do some teammate spending so I get the ball more. Best way to get shots down for me is to get into triple threat position and create space. Best game so far 18 points.

Aye man think about it if the team is terrible this year, you get a good draft pick and you guys can get better together. When I get the game I hope to go to the Rockets and if we do horrible my first 1-3 seasons I'm great with that because we'll get good picks and I'll turn into a beast! Dot ask for a trade just yet keep gutting it out brother!

Damn.. that sucks. The trade logic on this game is ridiculous. Too many big names are getting traded too early.

I still can't believe the suns traded Nash, and Childress to Griz for Zack Randolph, then traded Mickael Pietrus and Channing Frye for.... wait for it.... Rip Hamilton and a second rounder. turned around on the same day and traded Robin Lopez for another second rounder and James Johnson, turned that second rounder and Grant Hill into Jamal Crawford. This has turned into a totally different team from the one I came to.

Last year it was broken and stayed broken for the whole year.

This year I hear about trades being broken, so that's one negative.

Do the teams mix around their plays? Last year teams were playing the same 3 plays all the time.

Does your team score? Is the A.I. better?

Also, do the community's rosters apply to this mode or does it use the default rosters?

Any chance we can change sliders this year? Last year the difficulty was messed up.

-Trades are too frequent.
-Coaching in late game scenarios are horrid. For the third time, I ignited in the fourth to rally us back to tie and then sit and watch the last 3 minutes of the game.
-Your team scores better now but its better if you sit rather than if you sim till your back in (for some reason we always start getting destroyed when I sim). When I'm in the game, the A.I are great at creating their own shots
-I've found that an easy way for me to get a great teammate score is to run! Just like the real life Suns, run after misses, run after makes, run, run, run. And they give you a good shot selection for pull up three's in transition.
-The other questions I can't answer cause I freestyle it on plays and I don't adjust difficulty, sliders, or rosters yet. I think it uses the default roster though.

My Player update

Just ripped CP3 another one, scoring 48 points, dropping 8 dimes, 5 rebs and 4 steals. Was a great game, down by 18 at one point in the game, kept scratching at it. Had 23 points in the first half. Third quarter, started forcing the matter and struggled. Went ice cold. Went into the fourth down 12 and with that ice crystal symbol by my name. Ignited after that, scoring 18 in the fourth alone, dishing 5 dimes in crunch time, ripped CP3 twice to bring us back. Hit a big three to tie the score with 3:14 left in the game.... and was benched, for the rest of the game. Had to sit with my hands on my chin leaning forward on my bed to see if we could pull out the win, which we did by 1.

Side note: The late game bench camera is horrible! All I can see while I watch Rip and the boys battle CP3 is Vince Carter's *** while he stands up in front of me on the bench.

So again it sounds pretty broken...

Damn, I was waiting for some major improvements, but another year with stupid AI bugs and me scoring 40 games every game in order to win doesn't sound like fun.

My only issue with My Player are as follows...

1. Every freaking team is loaded with 3pt shooters....and they hit every single shot, sometimes they just chuck shots up 4 steps behind the three point line....and yes they nail them too... Teammate AI is a whole lot better though.....

2. Stupid AI trades.... Enough said....

3. This one is HUGE to me.....I play PG an can't run plays that I wanna call. Idk if I'm not doing sumthin right or what.... I wanna call p/r plays I'm sick of the crappy options I get... The plays arent even coming from the team playbook...I just played the bulls and the next game, all I ran were plays from the Chicago playbook.....they were good plays but still....I wanna run the offense....

That was basically how I played my PG in 2K11 and managed to get from 45 OVR to 90 by the end of the season and led the Warriors to a ring over the Heat. I never manually called a play, so it's very do-able.

Disabling play calling made all the difference in the world. I only got to play one game but I had career highs in points, rebounds and assists. Also, we actually won a game! Beat the Blazers by 5. Totally different experience than the 30 point blowouts I was experiencing before.

Even better: I was actually involved in the game. It was amazing.

Anyone having trouble with this Mode (like I was) disable play calling. You'll have fun again.

Thanks for the tips but it's not realistic to disable play calling.

If you can't use playcalling again this year, then this mode is broken.

So I wonder why the press have started praising it once again.
