-this game seems to do some shady stuff in order to keep the games close.
the CPU regularly hits contested F and D grade shots in order to keep the score close. meanwhile, my players will regularly miss wide open B and A grade shots.
if i have a double digit lead, my players start missing multiple open 3 pointers. i can be wide open and get an A grade on the shot...it doesn't matter...the game is so obviously making me miss so the CPU can go on a run. it's too hard to hold onto a double digit lead in this game because the game will just use it's B.S. power to make your shots miss and make the CPU's contested shots go in.
seems like whenever i'm winning my teammates start doing stupid stuff to give the CPU an advantage - they'll commit a stupid foul, fail to box out, etc.
most games follow the same pattern - eventually the CPU evens the score since my players have been missing their open shots and the CPU has made all of it's contested D- shots...once the score is close again, all of the sudden my players can make their shots!!!!! seems like the only time my players can make shots is when i'm losing or when the game is close.
this game also has a bad sense of what is a good shot. i will often contest a shot very closely and the CPU will still get a C+ or B grade on the shot...if i time my block animation perfectly and get all up in his grill, the shot grade should not be as high as C+ or B...a closely contested shot should never be higher than a D grade...
and another thing....a D grade or lower shot should NEVER go in. let me feel like i'm actually affecting the game with my defense....what's the point of playing defense and including shot quality grades if D grade shots are going to go in?
do you know how annoying it is when i'm trying to win a close game, and i'm contesting the CPU perfectly, but the CPU just keeps making these contested D and D- grade shots? when the CPU makes multiple D- shots in one game, something is wrong with this game's ability to judge shot quality.
-another thing, somewhat related to keeping the score close - the CPU offensive rebounding garbage is back again in 2k12. offensive rebounding is always WAY too much in favor of the CPU. the CPU often beats me 6-0 and 7-0 on the offensive glass...this dominant CPU offensive rebounding just seems like another way for the game to keep the score close. boxing out is a mess in this game as well...way too often my players will be in position to box out, but they don't box out...so the CPU's guy will just run from behind and grab the rebound even though my player had way better positioning to begin with. even if my player does box out, the CPU will often do some spin move around my player and grab the rebound anyway.
