Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
1.) Allow users to edit coach ratings:
This is an important part of team rankings and if we're to have a customizable game experience then this is an ABSOLUTE must! It is so easy and a great help to us that love editing the game! This has been put off for far too long by 2K and can easily be done from a programming perspective. It's not difficult in the least! DO IT! Do it, please!
2.) Fix Player Progression/ Potential:
This topic has been addressed over and over by many users. In my opinion, it is the single worst part of the 2k games. Guys actually need to regress at times, not jump 5+ points in a single offseason with rookies always living up to their potential. I'm not going to get into how you would determine such a thing. Those ideas can be found elsewhere. Point being, fix this. It's frustrating.
3.) Fix Generated Rookies:
No more 99 consistency ratings and 90+ clutch ratings. That's absurd and you all know it. No rookie generated by the CPU outside the top 5 or so should have a rating higher than 70 (and even that's generous). Drafts are about pulling in talent to develop, not getting instant stars and starters... They all look the same too. It's kind of creepy.
4.) Fix Contracts:
Contracts are WAY too large and long for role players in this game. And all the signings at the beginning of the year in Association severely limit the free agent pool in the coming off-season and tie up a ton of cap space.
5.) Defense:
It's COMPLETELY broken in 2k12. It'd be great if you could play it in this game. That's not too much to ask, right? Defense is half the game, after all.Paint contact in 2k11 was pretty good. So much here needs improvement. Canned animations are still rampant as ever despite the claim there was improvement/ reduction of them from previous titles. (In all, 2K11's gameplay was more realistic in general.)
6.) WAY less bobbled passes:
There's no reason that a good 20-25% of the passes thrown by the likes of Lebron, Nash, Rondo, Paul, etc should be bobbled.
7.) Fix stats: PPG, RPG, APG, etc:
If this game wants to truly call itself a simulation, then stats should reflect reality. If simulation stats in association are not reasonably consistent with actual real-life stats, there's something wrong with your ratings and/ or programming! All categories are very low in this respect: i.e. Chris Paul with less than 8 APG, Kevin Love with less than 10 RPG, Ibaka at 1.5 BPG (despite a 99 block rating), Lead leader in PPG @ ~25 PPG, and awful & inaccurate/ unrealistic FG% across the board for most players. FIX IT, please!!!
8.) MyPlayer:
Wow... where to begin. I'll keep it VERY short because it could get very long: Fix this. Fix this, please. It would help if your teammates actually scored as well and weren't spoon-fed everything. Oh, and no true fan of this game cares about the likes of houses or cars (I read this often on the forums): that's simply ridiculous. Stick to the core gameplay and make that a priority.
9.) Allow users to assign/ remove injuries:
Again, this is in the interest of customizable gameplay and editing for us hardcore NBA fans/ gamers. No reason I should be stuck with a downloaded roster full of injured players when I want a clean slate to edit with. Just like coach rating edits, this is very easy to do from a programming perspective.

More to come, perhaps.Hope you all admins at 2k truly read and seriously consider these suggestions. It'd go a long way in improving the game.

As far as the stats, the glitches are what drives me crazy. Again using th custom rosters I do, the stats aren't too bad. Blocks are a bit low. I think a big part of the assists, atleast in played games is that the CPU scorekeeper is VERY conservative in handing out assists. I've tested this by checking after a play to see if an assist was given out and seen it wasn't. Plays where a PG passes into the post and the player backs in a couple dribbles, then turns and shoots are generally called assists in real life but not on 2K. I think if they liberalized the assigning of assists to more match scorekeepers IRL, it would be better. Of course that is just played games, so SIM stats would also have to be adjusted accordingly.
with stuff like the ratings/tendencies and contract/free agent/trade logic, I have always felt like 2K would be better off hiring a couple smart posters from 2K for cheap and having them stand over the programmers and tell them exactly what it should be while the programmers code it. It just seems year after year that they ignore this aspect or don't have peopl that know basketball. How hard is it to code into the game not to stockpile points guards or to value 1st round picks at a higher level? I realize trade logic is very difficult to perfect, but some basic stuff like coding teams (or allowing users to code teams) into various categories such as rebuilding, ditching salary, stockpiling draft picks, title contender, etc. wouldn't be that hard.
But, like I've been saying all season, the stuff we are asking isn't flashy and doesn't catch the casual gamer's attention in an ad or magazine article like superficial stuff like adding more legends or having Justin Bieber in celeb mode. Until 2k buyers revolt with their wallets, fixing the basics of the game will take a backseat to making cosmetic changes that may attract additional buyers.Comment

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
we need ratings determination to go back to the way it was in 2k11. 2k12 has to many overated shooters. EX. John wall is shooting below 1% from 3pt range this season but insider never dropped his rating below 65 from 3pt range. Its currently 69 smh. Dirk had 99 mid /close rating when game first released. The forumula used to determine 2k12 ratings needs to change.Comment

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
remove the "gimping " effect you guys put on CPU defense. Help D doesnt matter because its like they arent even there challenging the shot. Online is even worse. In my OA i get beat off dribble and my opponent just does a pullup jumper in the face of my shot blocker with ease because of the "on ball D advantge" mechanic you guys placed in 2k12.Comment

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
Also , something that has bother me most if jumpshooting and lack of defense compared to 2k11. To much has been removed to play effective defense along with the crazy efficiency of contact shots while playing online. Jumpshooting is like 2k9 to where there seems to be no real release point. Feel like "real FG shooting" online. This was something i enjoyed in 2k11 and older interations of the game. Practicing my shots and plays offline then coming online and dominating with my rockets. Please change it back , Contact and JumpshootingComment

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
Disagree. I'm pressing right on the shot stick, that is not a command for my player to go straight up, head on to the rim. 2K11 had gorgeous double clutch animations, hardly any which are present in 2k12, if I get bumped, give me the ability to change my shot, instead of the garbage contact shot attempt shown in the video. I don't want to be sucked into that crap everytime I try to score in traffic. You don't see players like MJ, KB, Dr J, D. Rose etc just settle for rubbish like that when they get bumped, give us the ability to adjust the shot, or as I mentioned, bring back the assortment of circus shots/double clutch shots from 2k11.-----------------------------------------

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
Exactly. You don't have to make the layup you change it to. But the worse thing is you get that layup even when you're going at full speed on a fast break. Does anything about that layup suggest the player was running full speed with all the momentum implied?Comment

Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
Things that need to be added/improved for 2k13:
Gameplay
- My Player Crew mode.
- Ability to play with the legend teams online with/against friends (co-op). Private team-up games would be one place where it would be great to be able to use these teams.
- More responsive & tighter player movement like 2k11. There is far too much sliding around on the court this year, feels like your on a hockey rink. Makes it hard to stay in front of another human opponent while playing on-ball defense. Also when trying to move in the opposite direction its very slow & delayed. Also many times players just slide out of bounds.
- Trying to contest a Shot/Block the ball, jumping is very delayed and sluggish. Last year when you went for a block or wanted to get a hand up in someones face as they were shooting the ball you would actually jump towards the guy who was shooting. This year you just slowly float in the air.
- Playing on-ball defense and you're holding LT (intensive D) and the person shoots the ball, your player should put a hand up like in 2k11.
- On-ball defense there should be a little more contact. This year offensive players are able to slide right by your defense a little bit too easily.
- Improve passes into the paint. Many times when you pass to someone who is wide open in the paint or is cutting to the paint they bobble the ball, fall out of bounds, or the computer tips/steals the ball.
- Blocks need to be improved. Many of the blocks this year look so dumb and are so weak. You can be going up for a layup or shot and before the ball even leaves your hands it gets blocked.
- Improve the Live Ball Physics. I'm so tired of balls constantly being knocked loose by going off another players foot, back, or being blocked by a players elbow, armpit, ect.
- Steals/Loose balls need to be toned down just a little bit. There are far too many on-ball steals (especially online) where someone just reaches in, around, or behind you and steals the ball or they're able to knock the ball loose from you.
- Players that progressively sweat like in 2k11. It makes the players look alot more realistic.
- Bring back signature shot releases like what were in 2k11. The shot releases in 2k12 have all been dumb downed. It used to be fun to have to learn and practice the various players releases. Now people don't even have to practice to be able to shoot good.
- Being able to dunk or put up a simple layup needs to be improved just a little bit when your standing right under the rim. Sometimes your guy will throw up some weird looking layup animation when you want him to dunk or simply layup the ball and so it ends up getting blocked or hits the bottom of the rim.
- Continuation Fouls the defense should not be frozen. The defense should be able to contest/block the continuation shot.
- Alley-oops need to be improved just a little bit. They were dumb downed from 2k11. I'm tired of seeing guys jump for an alley-oop and seeing an animation were he doesn't even jump up for it properly and the ball just sort of fumbles off his body.
- Improve Boxing Out/Rebounding. I'm tired of boxing out and at times my guy won't even turn and face the basket or boxing out and the computer still gets the rebound behind me or jumping for the rebound and it being tipped several times and not being able to grab the rebound. Also, I hate sometimes when you use turbo and try to get a rebound and you end up plowing over someones and getting the foul.
Online Team-up
- Inbounding the ball needs to be fixed. It is severly delayed this year or sometimes won't work at all if a defender(s) is considered to be too close to the player(s) your trying to pass it to, which leads to having to call multiple timeouts or many times leads to getting 5 sec calls and turning the ball over .
- In-game substitution method needs to be improved. This year the screen disappears too quickly at times, sometimes the little box won't go away at all, starter disappears from the list at times, sometimes it won't let you sub at all, scrolling only in one direction is a pain, and there needs to be a confirmation button.
- Friends invited to play together this year will sometimes end up on different teams. Friends in a lobby need to be grouped together like in 2k11.
- Ability to call Defensive plays with the PG needs to be added back.
- Shot timing feedback system like in 2k11 needs to get added back.
- Win/Loss record for team-up games needs to be added back.
- In the back court if your bringing the ball up court and it gets knocked loose by someone from the other team and you recover the ball the 8 second rule doesn't reset, so you get back court violations when you shouldn't.
- There should be lobbies based on players rankings & DNF %. Far too many people quit in team-up. If there were lobbies for players with say Superstar/HOF rankings and say a min of 75% that completed their games it would be so much more fun for those of us who love playing a full games of team-up with very few people actually leaving.
- Ability to play with the NBA Today team match-ups for that day would be awesome and would make team-up alot more fun, instead of having to play with the same team match-ups over & over again.
- Ability to see who is talking in the pre-game lobby and be able to mute annoying people should be added back in.
- Private team-up, we should be able to scroll through the players on the team in the pre-game lobby. In case we want another player to start or to see who else is available to play at that position.
- Ability to see how many timeouts are left would be a big help.
Thank you for listening!
I would just like to also add:
- Make it so good defense actually matters. I'm so tired of playing great defense only to have guys hitting shots right in my face or inside the paint players spinning or doing up 'n' unders that can't be stopped.
- Private team-up, add back the ability to use custom sliders, options, rules, injuries, fatigue like what 2k11 offered.
I would also like to see 2k get rid of those long annoying "saving content" messages that seem to pop up all the time when trying to play online. I still don't know what the heck its trying to save lol. If the message appears and your trying to play with friends the "start" button won't even appear untill after its done, so you can't startup a game.Comment
