Every guy you mentioned is in the 2013 class. Except Nicholson, who is in the 2012 class. And it's all very subjective. I tried to put in 80 prospects that I thought were sure-fire NBA draft prospects come June. I tried to use trends from past drafts to dictate how many freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and international players should be in the draft, and I feel I did a good job of that.
With Meyers Leonard, every scout I've read basically says another year in college polishing his game will work wonders for him. And in my opinion 2013 is the year to be in the draft if you're a big man, as 2012 is absolutely loaded with frontcourt prospects. Before Nerlens Noel reclassified to 2012 this past weekend, I'm not sure there were any standout bigs among current high school seniors....at least none that are clearly head and shoulders above Leonard. Thus I put him in the 2013 class.
I left Wroten and Tony Mitchell (I assume you're talking North Texas Mitchell and not Alabama Mitchell) out of the 2012 class because that would have been a total of 9 freshmen in the class, which is a really high number. The record is 12 in 2008, but that was a ridiculously talented freshman class that featured the likes of Rose, Beasley, Love, Mayo, Gordon, Anthony Randolph, and Deandre Jordan among others. No discredit to the 2012 freshman class, I just don't feel it's as good as it was that season.
I won't go individually down the line and defend why each prospect you listed is instead in the 2013 class, because it's all entirely based on opinion. But just know I didn't randomly choose to leave those guys out of the 2012 class. There were reasons each was put in the 2013 class instead. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I wrapped up the 2012 class in early December. Obviously player stock is going to rise and fall between the start of the season and now, but no one wants to wait until March or April to start an association, thus I made a sort of executive decision to leave certain guys out of the 2012 class.
