    Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

I just tried the Dunk Contest and it's bloody hard!

There's so many other things to do with this game that I don't know if I've got the time necessary to put in to get good at this...

I want to say that the game looks awesome...it is a lot more fluid than last season's game. The Jay-Z soundtrack is cool (not a huge fan of him though) These new controls are ok. I might switch because I liked how they were last season. Can't wait to get my hands on All-Star Weekend...THE RETURN OF THE DUNK CONTEST! 1st game I played was the Bulls vs the Brooklyn Nets and even though it was pretty nice how they did...it's indicated that Jay was going to make them like they were the greatest team on Earth. SMH but anyway, I give the game a 9.5 out of 10. Keep it up, 2K. You put your competition out easily. Oh wait, there was none!

I'm startin to feel like games are too close. Everytime i play the CPU, we're always only 2-4 points apart throughout the entire game

Yeah as much as I'm enjoying the game, it's still being held back in this area and its really hurting how I need to play in sim leagues. Plays don't seem to run as smoothly as last year, players loaft through their routes and then even when you get an open shooter the catch and shoot just doesn't feel right most of the time.

It was also easier to lead guys to spots coming off screens in 2k12, I think it has to do with icon lead passing being toned down this year.

It's also a bit disappointing that they got rid of the "toes on the line" shot animations.

Not getting 2K12 has made 2K13 look like a completely different basketball game(other than commentary, though commentary is always great once you play NBA Today)

The way they talk about the Raptors is sad. They do mention terrible Raptor defense in 2010-2011(one of worst in league) and act like in 2011-2012, Raptors only moved up like 2-3 spots...they went from bottom 5 in the league to top 10...how is that NOT good?

Raptors finished top 10 in the NBA in opponent PPG and Opponent FG%.

              Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

I just saw my first real time injury in this year's game. The whole sequence played out beautifully. It was in my first game of MyPlayer after being drafted 17th by the Mavericks. We were on the road playing the Lakers and we happened to be up by 4 with just under 2 minutes to go in the game. They just missed a layup and OJ Mayo grabbed the rebound, only to step on Kobe's foot on the way down and immediately drop the ball as he hobbled in pain. Kobe then seamlessy picked it up and layed it in. The Staples Center erupted and we were then forced to call a timeout to get OJ out of the game. This sparked an 8-2 run by the Lakers to close out the game and we ended up losing 104-102. Great job 2k!

It's the same thing every year man, I'm used to it by now. Very little care is given to the Raptors by the 2k team, Bargnani looked like Count Chocula for 5 years before they finally changed it last year.

Even though he was one of the top scorers before his injury last year, they still haven't given him a proper sig shot either, or DeRozan, or Calderon, etc.

Valanciunas rated 59? 6 lower than the 17th pick Zeller? Ugh.

Any updates on 2k annual patch?

All i read is them fixing the my player issues. Theres no talk of some of the gameplay tweaks they make a month later. I've played the game at my friends and i share the same complaints that many have already mentioned before me. Im going to hold off on purchasing until they fix some gameplay issues.

Prolly more to do with Val being a european. Im sure they'll rate him properly once the nba season begins. I hear you on the bargnani issue doe lol he looked ridiculous for years. They fixed his face but his sig shot still needs to be addressed..you forgot to mention but demar face was waaaaaaaaaaaay off before 2k12 as well.

in the end, i usually stick with 2k cam. the benefits it provides on offense outweigh the limitations on defense. I have learned to adapt and play good defense on 2k cam. what makes defense a pain on 2k cam is that when the ball handler is at the top of the key, it's harder to judge how far you are from the ball handler...because you're looking at his back and sometimes you can't tell if you're 3 inches in front of him or 3 feet. but eventually your eyes adjust and you can judge the distance.
I don't have one, but I bet if you had Kinect you could do exactly what you want without having to pause the game. Win tip off and get ball say "2k camera". Miss shot and back on defense say "broadcast cam" and continue as such - In theory.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

hm, i've always thought broadcast cam was better for offense in the passing department, on 2k cam u cant see whats on the other side of you if you're on the far right or far left side of the court

If that's supposed to be Kenneth Faried....Damn, 2K were ya'll THAT lazy to at least have him look SOMEWHAT like the real Faried?

As many have stated this is by far the best basketball game ever assembled, this is too damn realistic. I'm currently playing a game with Spurs at Heat and it is just incredible how Lebron, Wade, Bosh play together. They all look for each other on the break and on half qtr sets. Simply love the authenticity to sim basketball in 2K13. BTW this game is light years ahead of last years game so if you love basketball this is a must have. Thanks 2K and the OS community for so much input.
