Add thunder to that ... I can only play blacktop and myteam online.

I'm addicted to this game... Even just drills and blacktop mode alone I play hours on end... I think its the customizability of the modes and player options which make it feel like I'm in the game along with, most importantly, the realistic gameplay and animations / physics.

Just played online rockets(me) vs heat.......I won the game even though he cheesed from the opening tip, shooting corner threes, attempting a charge every time down etc. I was able to focus on d and pretty much force him into bad shots and got the victory. This would have been a loss for me in 2k12

well first im not into online thinghy.

my only complain is why is every team plays like the run and gun phoenix suns??it seems like i have no choice but to run down my clock just to get the realistic end game stats. it affects the total reb.total shot attempts.

the pace is good however if my defense is there they should not hurry.

        Sory for bad english.

Loving this game but my one BIG complaint..

how come you can't make 2 completely different my players on the same profile/gamertag on 360? Its stupid.

So me and my brother can't have 2 different my players basically. Anyone found a way around this?

you nailed it on the head.
even against the celtics i had to really concentrate on letting the clock run down to prevent them from scoring over 100 points since they were running on half their plays

So far, the online game for me is smoother than in the past. I have had good games. There will always be cheesers, but I like trying to beat them. It's even more satisfying when I win. If they satrt playing sim, I go that way too.

I primarily bought this for random online matchups and so far, I am happier than I have ever been with a 2K basketball game.

as bad as online was in nba 2k12, it is much worse in 2k13, i've already posted about the game where melo was on BEAST mode, I bet he could have scored while giving SHAQ a piggy back ride!! but the most disappointing part for me is the road to the playoffs in MYTEAM mode, what's the point in having a goal to get better players, when the ones i start out with play like the dream team?

Weerrrd? What level and console do u guys play on? I don't have that prob, at all. Right now, I play on pro with some slider tweaks to increase awareness and foul calling, for me and the CPU. Gunna bump up a level once I get consistent with being the CPU.

As for onliners, I dunno how u do it unless u have ppl u know who play sim online and even with that, online play is still broken, I'm hearing. I wouldn't mind playing this particular game online if the servers and other things were up to snuff. Online gaming, in general, is just an exercise in frustration, imo

playing at all star/12min/sim slider.I think IF ONLY THE COACHING PROFILES are working. this would be the best game ever. some teams prefer half court game just so you know 2k. i hope this can be patched. just make the AI run more plays. only run fastbreaks in steals/turnovers, because i believe most of your gamers plays like real basketball.

Stars play like Stars! I don't know how they improved it (thru better roster editing or hard coded) but they are dominant and stand out, not just scoring Stars but players like Rondo will dominate the game by their passing and shot creating ability!

There are more variety of animations which makes the game alot more realistic and better ball movement, even without calling a play, your teammates will be moving around the court getting open or setting picks for you.

The only negative I can find in regards of gameplay is the amount of Points in the Paint which is too high for the opposing cpu (would like to see more mid-range Pull up Js) and the amount of Offensive Rebounds. But I'm working on sliders that will fix both of these areas!

Overall I think it's like NBA 2K12 with major improvements and fixes that ultimately makes NBA 2K13 the best Basketball game to date!

Great game miles ahead of 2K12 which was just completely unplayable to me, It feels slower which is great, the players actually feel like themselves, Offensive Sig skills are implemented extremely well, Superstars actually play amazing. KD lit me up for 47 on 13-22, Westbrook got into the lane with ease opening it up for him and was rebounding like a fiend. The Thunder offense just was a match-up nightmare in general. Chris Paul went for 20 and 10 all the hopshots, ripshots, eurostep all are excellent and not extremely overpowered like in the past

Some problems I do have with the game

I'm glad they made speed more realistic in the fastbreak, but now players like Westbrook, Rose, Tony Parker can get in the lane whenever(which is what should happen) but with big men being extra slow with rotations it's an easy lay-up 80% of the time(which shouldn't happen)

Points in the paint is by far my biggest problem with this game, Scoring around the basket is just way to easy for everyone, Stars, Roleplayers, bench players if they get into the paint 4 times out of 5 it's going to be a made lay-up even if there is heavy traffic in the paint which leads to my next problem

I turned down backdoor cuts and attack the basket yet other team still scored 74 points in the paint and shot 53%, attempted 108 shots and had 100 by the end of the 3rd. Offensive possession are too quick.

I feel like no matter who I am I have handles, I was crossing guys up with Kawhi Leonard, SJax, Danny Green and Diaw guys who don't have great handles not really even good ones where able to use their handles to get by people without to much problem.

Bigs just don't rotate fast enough to defend (or at least, they don't do it consistently), and even if they do, they can't really use their length to deter shots and passes in the paint, which is why there are so many points in the paint.
I noticed this as well. Guys like Sullinger and Bass are great, scoring over much taller guys with ease, as if height does not matter much except for some rebounding situations and blocking, obviously.

What I did in previous games was raising on-ball defense between 90-100 to limit inside scoring and in return I reduced quickness so I still can dribble past guys. Because with default sliders, it is always easier to score in paint if you got a few stick moves. Scoring of mid range or drives is always more difficult compared to scoring from the post.

While I still dont enjoy the presentation in 2K13, I did go ahead and buy it. From a gameplay standpoint, this is the best 2K Basketball game they have made. I've really only tweaked game speed and rebounding and its a great game.

I was playing Nets (me) vs. Bucks (cpu) last night and for the first time in a long time that the game felt like a real game. The flow of the game felt much more organic. The teams played how they would actually play from a situational standpoint. I was up by 17 at half and the Bucks came out from half and immediately started pressing me. By the 4th quarter, my lead was down to 1. I ended up winning by 16, but at no point did I feel this game was really put away until the last 2 minutes or so. The great part about it was that I also didnt feel like I was dominating. I was winning through smart play and because the Bucks changed their gameplan based on my lead. They started taking some ridiculous shots to get back in it and I was effectively rebounding.

Im also not wild about the missing classic players. Bench guys Im fine with needing to replace/create, but guys like Dr. J, 76ers Barkley, Kareem and C-Webb arent as easily replaceable to me, especially Kareem and Dr. J.

So, my take is that the game plays like a dream and looks like crap, presentation wise.

I put it like this. This is the best 2k I have played. I thought 2k11 was great, but this game is in a different echelon compared to the current gen 2k's that were released. I am hooked. The first night I got in on the 360 I played strictly online except one game against the CPU on Hall of game, and a few MyCareer games.

When I played the CPU I used the Nets while I chose to play against the Pacers. I played 5 minute quarters and well I ended up winning in an OT thriller. Let me tell you something for those who haven't played this game and are still playing 2k12. This year the CPU does not cheese to win the stupid up and under is gone, and every contested jumpshot does not go in. And when you miss your jumpshot the CPU does not take off on you in transition to get a fastbreak bucket. There are a few things that may need to be fixed though like the rebounding. Defensive rebounding is unheard of and there is not to much boxing out. Which is cool because boxing out isn't a focal point these days in real life. Also the shooting percentages are to high, but I like the fact that you ar e rewarded with a basket of your open, but the rate of making shots are just a little to high. Some people hate that 3pct is too high. I find it ok but guys like Gerald Wallace shouldn't make no more that 2 threes a game. I hit like 4 with him and plenty of mid range shots lol. Despite the rebounding and shooting pct. This game is amazing offline.

Now for the online gameplay in quick matches ranked games of course are tough because every online player is looking to drive to the basket and dunk with their star player. Also everyone tends to pick the Heat, Lakers, or Thunder, which is cool because for every elite team chosen theirs another elite team that can match up. I had one game where I picked the Hornets and another guy chose the Warriors the only thing he did was go down court and Jack the ball up with S.Curry and when he rebounded he kicked it back out to Curry for a 3. Every game I played except like 3 was close but seriously take caution into playing quick matches online because its a track meet. The way I won my games is by slowing down and ball movement, and making extra passes to players that were open for easy jumpsuits. Because no one I have faced yet has consistent defense. I am 9-7 so far.

Also I am a team up guy, so my friends played tons of team up and myplayer blacktop games. The servers do lag but we found a trick into picking your players in private matches after 30 seconds pass and the lag seems to stop at least in private matches. The ranked team up matches are a dismal so I usually don't mess with it. Everyone quits if they don't have a good player and the servers lag so I don't really touch it. Oh yeah and the greatest thing about team up is that you can choose classic rosters. When me and my friends online found this out we were f'n stoked.

In all I give this game a 10 I recommend training camp for those who are new to the 2k experience.

Yes I am satisfied there is nothing more I can ask for seriously. Thanks 2k.

                                Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

Well, I've played the game for 2 nights now, so i'm getting pretty familiar with it. At this point, i have to say that 2k13 is really amazing.

I was very critical of 2k12, as many here know. 2k12 was not enjoyable to me and was even unplayable at times. Sometimes, the flaws were just too hard to stomach. Yeah, I complained a lot about 2k12, but i believe my complaints were justified. It was just a flawed game from a basic control and animation standpoint.

So, i have to give the devs at VC props...they really did fix this game. From top to bottom, they really addressed about every issue I had with 2k12. For me it mostly comes down to control and player movement. If the controls in a game aren't responsive, and the animations aren't doing what they're supposed to, you might as well throw everything else out the window. For a game to be successful, it has to be solid in the areas of control responsiveness and animation - those are the most basic necessities for any video game...and 2k12 was somewhat of a mess in those areas...so no matter how much i tried to like it, the sluggish control/movement and inappropriate contextual animations just kept me from enjoying 2k12. You could almost never get separation from the defense because your player was too slow and the defense could warp slide to cut you off...and when you finally did get a scoring opportunity, your player got forced into some stupid animation that ruined your shot. After a few months with 2k12, i mostly shelved it. I pulled it out every few weeks, only to be reminded why i had stopped playing it to begin with.

Part of me has suspicions that 2k12 wasn't quite a finished game. It just didn't feel consistent with VC's normal level of quality. I wonder if the lockout last year affected VC's development schedule and resources. Maybe they projected low sales due to the lockout, and thus they were given fewer resources for that game...or maybe they just didn't have the time to fully polish certain areas of the game. Who knows, but at this point i just view 2k12 a weird blip in the history of this series.

Anyway, i can already tell that 2k13 is going to be a game that keeps me glued to my PS3 all year long. I'm already getting that old 2k11 feeling again - responsive control, and my player actually does what i want. I don't feel like i'm being held back by weird animation choices like in 2k12

I finally checked out My Career last night, and I'm loving it. thanks to the improved control, improved speed, and improved AI, My Career will be fun again, and it will likely be my mode of choice this year. What I like about My Career is it gives you feedback on everything (defense, offense, shot selection, assists, etc.). This kind of constant feedback on your performance makes the mode so much more engaging than any other mode for me. You feel like every action you do on the court is being noticed and you are rewarded or punished for everything you do. This makes My Career hard to walk away from for me.

thanks VC for the great game. It won't be leaving my PS3 all year. I don't even think I'll want to play another game. This game is so deep.
