Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Also on certain plays, such as a screen play for 3, pump faking a pass in any direction will result in the play breaking and everyone just standing around. Boooo."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Has the scoreboard removal and rebounding issues been addressed? to me they are the biggest and most obvious issues at this point. I cant believe that this was overlooked its mindblowing imo. Oh well glad I can go back to the show til they patch this great game that lacks some things that are so basicComment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Most disappointing thing for me so far is catch and shoot situations, they actually seem worse than 2k12 on average, and it was an area that really needed work last year.
Plays don't seem to run as smoothly either, but even if it does run perfectly and you have an open shooter, being able to hit them with a pass for a quick shot is extremely inconsistent.
It comes down to fundamentals too, overall the shot preparation is poor. It can work well occasionally, but these are supposed to be NBA players, it's second nature at that level.
I'm enjoying the game a lot, but I'm pretty disappointed this area wasn't given more care. I think the only reason it doesn't feel worse than last year is the lack of passing delay, because players seemed to run their routes harder in 2k12.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Has anyone anyone noticed when you use the alternate control scheme...(RS shooting) the left stick becomes super responsive to crossovers? It's pretty cool...it's almost what isomotion SHOULD have been all these years...
Try it out...though I love the control stick this feels really really good,Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
The game pretty much plays like a better version of 2k12, with community rosters and sliders. quickness, offensive rebounds, spacing etc. is great with def. sim sliders.
one thing I noticed was how great the signature skills work. yes, making a guy a great dunker, or a great shooter is easy, but adding intangibles was always the difficult part. rondo for example, has scrapper and floor general as two of five signature skills. as a scrapper, a crashes boards like crazy, getting off. rebounds by diving into the paint, plays passing lanes like all the time. as a floor general, he is crucial on the flow off the offense, whether he has the ball in his hands or not. gives some sort of bonus to the team, confidence boost maybe?
first game I played against orlando with def. sim sliders on pro (rt shooting) and won 118-86. Sullinger and Bass were killing them with easy baskets(thanks to rondo and no inside presence of Orlando). picking spots for players and running the show with rondo feels simply amazing.
cheating is also gone, at least on pro. but this probably means that we should increase the difficulty a tad. All that realism is getting beaten by human factor, since we are far better decisions makers in games when compared to real players. not saying this is something bad but in the end it makes things easier.
overall, the game feels great out of the box. haven't checked on sim stats, but everything on the court feels great.
My impressions are that guys are really like they are in real life. It is hard to categorize how, but I played with the Celtics and Rondo stuffed the stat sheet like he does, he commanded the floor, was everywhere including the boards like he is in real life and was a pest on D. They seemed to have nailed "how" he plays D. I mean he was in the face of his guy all night.
I am not sure how to say this, but you cannot really play a guy based on his stats alone. You really need to be smart and play to their strengths. The signature skills as you stated are done very well. Guys like Sullinger and Fab Melo are rated in the middle of the pack, but when you play to their strengths, they are amazing.
Overall when I play the game, I say this is not an overhaul which people normally equate to either a great game or a flop depending on how well it is done. This game builds very well on a tremendous foundation. If you are expecting to see a different game from last year, its not there. It is better in nearly all of the areas that it needs to be.
On a side note, in regard to the Jay-Z influence: I sit on the side of the fence that it is a bit over done, but anything that brings eyes to a great game and a great game maker I think is a good thing. The game itself is so good that it outshines the slightly overdone Jay-Z stuff. The fact that basketball games may not make it into as manny hands as football games or other games for that matter makes it that much tougher for it to be truly appreciated.
Thank you 2K, a big win this year for this game. Every game I play feels different and competitive when it should be.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
This game is the best sports game ever.
ENough said OS, stop complaining start learning...
This game has gotten me back to my childhood times, the way i waited all day long in work to get my copy over the night and the way i literally run home to get it in to my ps3, was great and then the result with the way the game plays, simheads must be having GREAT fun...
Thanks 2k for making this happen..
Rubio is done perfectly I must add. He has all those little flips and floaters he has. Also his passing is just ridiculous. And I say this as I was playing against him!Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Yeah, the shot button really is the way to go i think. I don't find myself missing the shot stick really. like you said, with the shot button you get more consistent results on certain shots, and you get more responsiveness since you don't have to remember to hit L2.
the hop step button combined with the shot button gives you some nice results on moving jumpers, etc.
the one thing i miss from the shot stick is floater control...floaters are harder to do with the shot button, but i'm willing to give up that one shot...i rarely attempt floaters anyway.
The year they went from the x button to the shot stick was a huge change for me. Then once I got used to it, the next game I felt like the x button was better. Then this year I am trying the stick again, but I am having issues with only with dunking with the shot stick. I am currently switching between the two during gameplay, sort of experimenting. I do think that the x button gives you a lot of variety thoughComment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
All Star sim and I'm seeing good stats (off rebounds not withstanding) but I think the AI is jacking up shots too quickly. On 12 min quarters, I'm seeing nearly 100 FGA per game, even with about 20-25 FT attempts.
Yes, part of it is the offensive rebounds, but I think the AI needs to be just a TAD more patient on offense. Not a lot, but just a little. Same probably goes for me.
But otherwise, FG% looks great, other stats look good.
Nice to be able to actually get into the lane with quick guards this year.Playing:
NBA 2K23 on PS5, Red Dead Redemption II, World of Outlaws, MLB The Show 22Comment
