    Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

not playing myteam or online anymore it's damn BS...players keep making BS shots on me and have me screaming at the TV. It's not even fun playing as center or power forward you get bumped right out of the way so the attacker can make his shot. I'll be standing waiting with my arms up only to get freaking bumped out of the way. Lets not forget about when the CPU or other player is going on fast break that you can't even sprint back in position. You have some kind of 2 sec delay preventing you. The online is glitchy as hell with the scoreboard disappearing.

The more i play the game minus the fact that i think i have it playing great the problem is with the little things.

I would of liked for the uniforms to been fixed they are too baggy. Fifa 13/ES2013 has actually two different types of fitting kits why doesnt 2k? And no to mention how madden was able to put in the new Nike jerseys too?

Also players like Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant STILL do not "look" like themselves yet they NAILED guys like John Wall and Rondo ?

Also the I wanted some classic Jay Z songs

Seein Pete Rock in the video with Nas brought a BIG smile to my face tho

Oh and with all the flack the menus are getting for being gawdy, flashy etc they are lightening FAST.

Really smooth interface I can navigate quicker through NBA 2K13 than any other sports game this year minus PES2013

been watching nba since 1986 so i know its not that easy to get layups all game over shot blockers. 2k13 has issues and the fact that they keep that " user defense better than CPU defense" mechanic means you cant have CPU guard ballhanders because they can just pull up jumpers in cpu defenders face easily

            Pros
            Love the control stick.
            Speed finally matters.
Signature skills really do make a difference.
            Pick n' rolls actually work.

            Cons
Mother of GAWD the rebounding is terrible.
They've taken away features (can't turn off autosave, can't share sliders).

It's better than 2K12, but the level of hype was unjustified. Still a very good game though.

              Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

              PC Impressions (offline):
              - Player 'abilities' taken away. Post hook and post fade away back into 'attributes'.
              - New tendencies i noticed: 'Crash' - player tendencies to fall to the ground when shooting in heavy traffic. Apart from that it looks the same.
              - Why the hell is Kanye West's "Amazing" in the game soundtrack? Wasn't it already in 2k11 or 2k10 or something? Auto-tune. Ugh.
              - Looks like there's some new animation categories in the post. Why not.
              - Coldplay's in the soundtrack? Weird choice lol. I feel like i'm listening to some typical mainstream radio station at the moment.
              - The new dunk packages is a great new addition, as is the fact that you can choose the pre-game animations. It's small but i love stuff like that.
              - Jay-Z's beats not impressing me so far. Where da funk at?
              - And 'Amazing' is playing again after playing playing about 2 or 3 songs ago. Good lord.
              - PET PEEVE ALERT: When you scoll through the teams to play an exhibition game, it shows you the sponsors (addidas & NBA) before it shows you the team's ranking in OVR, OFF and DEF. EEEeeeeeerrrrrggggghhhh!! It's only small but it's annoying.
              - Not feeling the intro videos. They bouncey flaming basketballs aren't impressing me.
              - Players look better in the menus than they do in the game. Overall the in-game graphics look the same as 2k12 to me.
              - Instantly feels like 2k12, except slower. Not a bad thing. Physics seem a bit more realistic.
              - I'm LOVING the defense! Contesting shots feels better, and blocking is really good. Bogut just blocked the **** out of me in emphatic fashion. YES!
              - Driving the basket feels and looks great. Both when i'm doing it, and when the CPU is doing it. YES!
              - "Shot feedback" is really detailed. Don't know if that's necessary but hey why not.
              - I'm gonna have to watch some of Da_Czar's videos this year to understand what the hell i should be doing haha.
              - Pass responsiveness is too slow for me. I want them to pass the ball as soon as i hit the button. It's more fun to create plays and react quickly in the moment. Currently when you push pass the sort of wind up and THEN pass. Same as last year. Oh well.
              - I'm getting absolutely smashed in my first game lol. I missed almost every shot in the 2nd quarter and my own crowd started booing. Pretty cool.
              - You've really gotta box out.
              - The dunk intensity meter is kinda stupid.
              - In-game replays seem to cut out early. :?
              - Charges are back! WOO!

Overall, the game is good. In fact it's great. No doubt 2k have plateaued though. Shelf-life will not be long for 2k13, unless MyTeam is really fun. OH WAIT, they didn't include that. Oh well, i guess i'll just focus on collecting Virtual Curren--OH WAIT they didn't include that either. Ah well, i'll just have some fun in the dunk cont-OH **** IT

              Impressions #2 (Association):
              - Association is the same. New CBA is cool, but everything else is exactly the same.
              - They claimed they fixed rotations, they still seem silly to me. Key players still get too few minutes, and 11th and 12th men are still given too many minutes.
              - "Total Sim Control" is just a simplified version of coach profiles. There is NOTHING special about this feature. Disappointed.
              - Individual stats in league leaders are still low.
              - Hot tip: Turning the music off stops all the distracting menu dancing.
              - Realistion: 2k's priorities have clearly shifted from being passionate about producing a great basketball sim, to attracting sales and other general business priorities. You can't blame them for that but it's just another reason why this game plateuad at around 2k11. Shame.
              - With that said: The gameplay is really quite good. At first it feels too similar to 2k12, but the more your mind adjusts from 2k12 to 2k13, the more it feels like authentic NBA Basketball. Very cool.
              - The ****ing Association **** up that was in 2k12 where big men's 3pt tendency slowly increased year-to-year is in ****ing 2k13 again! :x *** **** that bug was annoying. It ruins the FG% of big guys becuse they start attempting 3's and not making any. God ****ing diggity dammit.
              - Still the same **** with how 2k roster interacts with their Association mode. EVERYBODY IMPROVES and ALL of the teams become good. They need make player progression less based on their potential rating and more based on opportunistic factors like playing time/experience (to improve) and injuries (to bust). not to say that the potential rating shouldn't matter. It should. But it should matter less, and there should be more of a "farming" factor. I.e. a rookie that gets starting minutes will improve quicker than a player that is stuck at the bottom of a stacked roster. They should improve by getting confidence after good performances. Otherwise everybody improves and there are no busts. There should be TWO potential ratings - One called "floor potential" and one called "ceiling potential". Ceiling potential dictates how good they can become. And floor potential dictates how likely they are to "fall off the map" (it could also dictate how quickly they decline). This means there is a "range" of potential that can either be fulfilled or not fulfilled depending on the prospects opportunities throughout their career. Rant over.

This game is cheesy as hell online. It's so frustrating playing these morons who just dunk and cheese with the Heat. I'm 5-14 right now!!! I've never had such a horrible record before. Too many dunks and too easy to dunk. And this whole getting bumped out of bounds crap is just ridiculous.

How they chose to neglect rebounding is beyond me. It's probably the most frustrating part of the game because it almost always allow for easy PIP after the rebound. Humphries was going over 3 of my players constantly for the rebound while Amare instead of boxing looked like he was lost on a intersection somewhere. Now I know NY had there share of defensive rebounding problems but that happened far too often. Same thing happened to me with Chicago which are a rebounding machine. Boxing out seems kind of non-existent or at least in the few games I played last night.

                    Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

Ok...after getting a good look at MyCareer:

                    * It's almost impossible to maintain a respectable teammate grade. I've yet to grab above a B+ and i'm putting up double-doubles. The offensive rebounding is killing it. I'm getting in perfect position and boxing out, only to lose rebounds to PG's jumping out of nowhere. The "allow offensive rebound" penalty takes up a huge chunk of accrued points.

                    * Contact on defense is terrible. Guarding ball handlers is impossible when they just run into you dribbling without losing a step until they blow by you. In general, on defense there just doesn't seem to be enough contact.

Hopefully this can all be addressed in a patch...at this point i'm a bit underwhelmed.

i cant believe they didnt fix rebounding this year. no boxing out, animations dont look right. it was already a big issue in nba 2k12.

this game should be way better than it is. Way way way too many offensive rebounds, it really takes all enjoyment when you think you have a stop and they keep getting it. Bumping out of bounds is so annoying, just lost an online game thanks to that. Why do the players move so slow. Its really annoying that i can't do what I want to do with they players because of this, really makes defense unenjoyable. I consistently have been triple teaming Kobe online and he still makes ridiculous jumpers all game long. I really hate that online is geared towards people who know absolutely nothing about basketball. Fix this 2k, start gearing online towards the sim gamer.

                          Small Sample Size, 1 game.

                          Definitely different than 2k12.

                          This is offline only.

Last year, I bounced between all and pro sim and had difficulties winning games using the Bucks. (yes, stick skills aren't the greatest)

Last night, tried Bucks vs Piston on pro sim and the Bucks manhandled the Pistons. Illyosova became all world, and Ellis dominated the first half.

It seemed like the game became easier(dare I say a bit more casual), but it's only 1 game, I'm going to up it to all star sim and see what happens.

I did really enjoy the improved defense, switching seemed much better.

Eh, enough has been said about the presentation. I'd like a more tv style presentation vs a glitzy Las Vegas type.

like others have mentioned also. DEFENSE IS NON EXISTANT IN NBA 2K13. Take one of the off ball defenders and the guy with the ball will blow by the cpu defender EVERY single time. Guard on ball and the guy will also blow by you because the players move so unnecessarily slow this year that you can barely keep up. I feel like i have no control this year in terms of player movement. it sucks

Hmmm, maybe I'm alone but I am not seeing this but I do play with the Nets and Kris Humphries is an awesome rebounder. I'm getting a good amount of rebounds on the offensive and defensive end. Does it matter what team you play with? I'm wondering if people expect to get rebounds with any team even one's that are not known for having good rebounding. Just a thought.

The Nets seem to be the worst offenders for some reason.
I have no earthly idea how they looked at this is and thought rebounding was ok as is.

We know it can be patched a l 2k11, but it needs to happen sooner rather than later
