Its a shame the game doesn't look as good as it plays
the art team needs to work as hard as the gameplay team
I absolutely love the game and will play til 2k14
im not looking for 100% accuracy but its killing the immersion
Too many player faces went untouched. im a big lakers fan and its sucks to see so many guys look off.
Guys like mario chalmers and matt barnes has had the same face forever along with many others lol
Its so bittersweet to see one of those awesome sprite slam cam replays and players looking so generic, killing immersion
Colors, home/away accessories needs major work
Amazing shoe game this year!
Awesome gameplay for sure its been said and it comes 1st. im just ready for the art/graphics to take the same leap

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
I completely agree. I find it very difficult this year to make the L2 and double tap of the shot stick work consistently for shots off the dribble. Often times i end up either launching a shot I didn't want, or doing a convoluted pump fake. At first it felt like cheating because it was easier, but now Im going to use the hop step gather button followed by the shot button for my off the dribble jumpers. It just feels more natural to me, and i know exactly what Im going to get. I just had to get my ego and my love for the shot stick out of my mind. Felt like I was cheating by going back to the hop button. But the level of control is so much better and consistent. Hit a buzzer beater with pierce last night off of a hop and shoot. I feel like with the shot stick double tap, I might not even have gotten that shot off.
Now im using the control stick for dribble moves, then once i decide what shot I want, I find myself naturally using the shot button for jumpers.
the hop step button combined with the shot button gives you some nice results on moving jumpers, etc.
the one thing i miss from the shot stick is floater control...floaters are harder to do with the shot button, but i'm willing to give up that one shot...i rarely attempt floaters anyway.Last edited by blues rocker; 10-03-2012, 10:54 AM.Comment

A wonderful game marred by things lost from 2K12. The team export being no longer is the lamest idea yet. Aside from things getting removed, still a great playing basketball game.Comment

This game is cheesy as hell online. It's so frustrating playing these morons who just dunk and cheese with the Heat. I'm 5-14 right now!!! I've never had such a horrible record before. Too many dunks and too easy to dunk. And this whole getting bumped out of bounds crap is just ridiculous.

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Gameplay is simply amazing this year. I thought 2k12 was a huge drop off from 2k11. 2k13 def made some improvements. I'm not as nit picky as some. I like everything about the game except for all the Jay-Z stuff in the presentation. It seems like they kind of went overboard.Comment

if 10 is perfect...
you gotta take at least 1 pt off for graphics. very lackluster. this is 2012, almost 2013... you would think it was 2009 by watching a game of 2k13 (unless you zoomed in)
the ghetto looking presentation + Jay-Z basically raping your eyes/ears is another .5 off.
gameplay is pretty great though overall.

Only thing im disappointed by are the graphics. This game looks like 2k11 for some reason. expected more of an improvement in that regardComment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
One thing I noticed about offensive rebounding is, if your defense breaks down and someone has to rotate to help it usually results in an offensive rebound - which is true to real life as people are not in the greatest position to block out.
When my "D" is solid on the ball and I'm able to keep my guy out of the paint it almost always results in a missed shot and a defensive rebound.Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
YES YES YES. Watch an NBA game, DRose can not only dribble drive into the paint at will but usually gets off a decent (albeit acrobatic/altered) shot near the rim.
2K13 finally replicates this perfectly. With Westbrook in 2k12 I struggled to find/create space to drive (I am not very good with the stick, but I play enough to have reached a level where I should be able to drive realistically), this year I can pickup the controller (PRO setting) & drive as I would expect to.
Overall, I'm loving 2K13 so far. Here's some general impressions:
- Jayz production is just blah. I don't hate it or love it. I wish it was kept to menu only and not part of any game itself (i.e. halftime show, equalizier bars etc.). Sound track is so damn loud in the menus, I turned it down to 10.
- Graphically it's great. My wife walked by & thought I was watching an NBA game. The small touches of real life make it a beauty to watch. I was Westbrook guarding Brandon Knight & poked the ball away, it went OOB & the ref said it was Pistons ball....well Westbrook patted his arm like he was pleading with the ref that it went off of Knight. Just a small subtle touch but it was great to see.
- CPU seems to attack with a purpose. Players move off the ball and look to get into scoring position. OFF rebounding may be overdone, but sliders should correct that.
- If there's no hex editing then I'm really disappointed.
- Shoe creator is cool, but I dont see anyway to download other peoples shoes, and I certainly dont want to waste a ton of time recreating shoes that I could get from 2kshare (if implemented properly)
- Sig skills appear to be great, but I worry they are a tad overdone, taking importance away from ratings. This is where I wish 2K included the ability to remove Sig Skills from players in edit mode.
- Overall I feel it's a HUGE improvement from 2K12, and I really enjoyed 2K12 so that's saying a lot!Comment

Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread
Welcome back, NBA 2K.
I am very impressed with what NBA 2K13 has brought to the table this year. The Control Stick is a welcomed addition. I'm still learning (did training camp before I played a game) but man, it's very intuitive and is miles better than the old Isomotion.
CPU plays a smart game. All-Star Simulation with Real FG/FT%, I saw great things. Pull-up jumpers off a secondary break, going to the hot scorer and then running clock late in the game.
Speed MATTERS. This is what I've waited years for. Ty Lawson was abusing Jeremy Lin, and that's how it should be as Ty is very tough to check for most in the NBA. So glad I can use his speed to my advantage.
Edit: also want to say playing defense is much-improved from 2K12. Players have more weight to them and you feel more in control of your players than in 2K12, where it seemed like a little move of the controller would send you sliding out of position.
Stats playing out very realistic so far. Playing 5-min. quarters to see different teams and shooting is in the mid- to high-40's for myself and the CPU. CPU not making every 3-pointer like they did last year at release, and those desperation shots with the shot clock winding down also don't go in 90% of the time.
Loving the soundtrack and I think the new presentation is fine. It freshens up the game and really distinguishes itself from 2K11 and 12, which is what I wanted.
People, if you are wondering if 2K13 is worth getting over 2K11 and 2K12, I will say it absolutely is. I've only had the game a day, but I already know it will be the game I keep in my 360 for months to come. Fantastic job by 2K with this one.
As a fan of basketball and video basketball, you owe it to yourself to buy this game.Last edited by DJ; 10-03-2012, 12:35 PM.Currently Playing:
