Re: Poll: Reach in fouls rate
I'm assuming that the guys that were unhappy BEFORE (and are happy now), were upset because the ball was getting stolen from them during a drive or something?
I think the poll results are deceptive because these types of steal attempts absolutely SHOULD be called as reach ins, since its practically impossible to time that type of steal in real life (without getting a foul called).
However, when the ballhandler is just idly standing there, tying his shoes, there's no reason why I should be called for a reach-in on the first try, especially when the ball is right in front of me, clear as day.Comment

1: their fast break, come from behind, right hand, they have the ball in their right hand
2: intense defense, they just stand for 6 seconds dribbling the ball without moving, when my inside circle reaches the centre I press steal
3: double team, I stand in front with right stick, ball hits my hands sometimes, teammate picks it up, I get a steal, this still works.
4: double team, I move to his ball side and press steal, usually knocks the ball away, press steal again to hustle it while its lose and get called for reach. 80% the opponent gets the ball back, situation reversed I can't get it back, I recover from being stolen. CPU has no recovery time.
5: double team, hold L2, press steal, ends in ball up.
6: intense defence, hugging the opponent, he passes, ball goes through my hand, can't steal it.
7: on the drive, press steal instead of block, reach in foul (with active hands equipped)
8: opponent drives into me, loses balance, press steal, reach in foul.
What am I doing wrong? If I'm the noob then someone explain to me how to steal and when to press it.
All your guys problem was steal spamming, all they needed to implement was a steal button cool down feature, raise the foul call maybe 30% and that's it.We live in a world with smart phones and stupid peopleComment

Re: Poll: Reach in fouls rate
They don't call reach in fouls on the perimeter because players don't REACH in real life like these sorry kids that play this game.. I use to play organized ball and coaching basketball 101 is "Play defense with you feet , Not with your hands". I seriously believe a lot of people that play this game have never played real ball in there lives to even complain about reach in fouls. #Sadness.
GOD BLESS THIS POST & thank you.
PLEASE 2k DONT TOUCH THE REACH IN FOUL RATE...this is one of the best changes you have fixed in this game. This is best for one on one gameplay....this mixed with simulation is awsome
THANK YOU 2k...hell i might jump online for once

That's exactly what these people want, 10 to 12 steals a game cause they have a 99 steal rating with pickpocket and active hands why don't yall just play NBA JAM. Obviously u want an arcade type game with unrealistic steal amounts even the best defenders only get 1 to 2 on ball steals a game. The best defenders play D with their feet not reaching the whole game. LEARN BASKETBALL AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY THIS GAME BETTERWe live in a world with smart phones and stupid peopleComment

Ok, this is actually a great response. Might be able to help me.

Re: Poll: Reach in fouls rate
I would love to see video evidence of players that say they get a foul on "every reach in" ... not because I doubt they get the call but because I doubt they reach in "propperly" ... would also love to see something with AI reach ins getting called "every time".
BTW, those that know me, know that I am mostly an offline player and that when I play online I am up there with the worst skilled players of 2k ... and yet, I can still get 1 or 2 on ball steals per game and I love the increased fouls for reach ins without context or logic.
Then again, I must admit that given the 2 distinct experiences found in offline and online, the adjustments should be equally distinct and therefore separated ... thus, knowing 2k, that seems quite not possible so I am all in for the post patch results.Last edited by ffaacc03; 12-03-2012, 09:22 PM.Comment

- while a big is driving and tries to finish a fastbrake, I press steal and he loses the ball, depending on the moment, it goes outside or I get the ball (be it cpu or hum)
- while oponent in post up position, if he intends to drive I press right stick towards him and the place he wants to go, cause contact and get the ball (be it cpu or hum)
- when opponent tries to pass the ball out of double team, press right stick away/right or left (depending on who/where is the pass intended) from opponent and intercept the ball (be it cpu or hum)
- whenever the ball is bobbled, I first move the right stick to the player (hum)
... Now, this do not means that is a certaint steal every time or that I dont get some reach in fouls called, but they usually are 1 or 2 at most, per game ... angles and animations are important, as well as anticipation, but specially "contact" ... in sum, is just an adjustment phase that requires patience and observation ... I compared to the one faced when quickly presses the pass button trying to make the player pass the ball quicker (old videogame habbit) but instead the player does a pass fake.
he is as skilled as 2k hardcore players are, unlike me, so I would try and get the most of what he says ... :wink:Comment

Re: Poll: Reach in fouls rate
I'm not sure why all of those who are OK with it how it is are being pegged as online-only players. I never play online and I don't have problem with where it's at now. In Mycareer (superstar/sim), I have a sg rated only 67 for stealing and have gotten 6 steals in my last 10 games post-patch. I know, not a lot but seems in line with my rating and playing style...Only 1 was from an on-ball steal attempt, while the others were from using the right stick often, and the steal button more in the passing lanes. Still, I get how people want different things out of video games, so the most logical thing would be for us to be able to change sliders/settings in all game modes.Comment
