You obviously don't know the problem that the zone is overpowered, not that it shouldn't be in the game (though 1-3-1 shouldn't be in) and if you want me to learn how to play, how bout you teach me on how to play realistically, seriously, show me and everyone else. A few months ago it was euro step 3pts that was the token complaint, and offensive rebounding, steal spam, driving for dunks and other nonsense complaints.
The only reason it's a problem is because its not how YOU want to play.

If someone is dunking on me all game ill use zone, if someone is using euro 3pters ill use full court press and double team, if someone is steal spamming ill post up at half court or keep passing.

Lol the way you vigorously defend cheesy / unrealistic / overpowering "tactics" is fantastic. I'm gonna call cheese what it is. And in my book, zone D is a cowardly way of playing D, it's a noob way of playing D, so yep I'll stand by that. The cheesers should just admit it and move on instead trying to defend it like somehow it takes "skill" to press a button and let the CPU do the bulk of the D. Imo, 1vs1 is ruined because everyone and their mother uses zone, so why do I want to play NCAAB? Sticking to blacktop and teamup, where you're forced to play your own D, where you can't rely on cheap CPU tricks to get by, it's all you. Do you play blacktop? Are you able to function on D without cheap CPU-dependent tricks?

Personally, I was hugely disappointed when the NBA incorporated the zone defense. I think it allows poor defenders to hide. I feel that if you've made it 2 the professional level, you should be able 2 stay in front of ur man. And for the elite level offensive players, there are schemes besides a zone 2 assist with help defense.

Now with 2K, it doesn't properly simulate a realistic zone. Not when dudes just play off the ball IN A ZONE and go 4 steals on every play. Realistically, most of the time players just play good position defense and only go 4 steals when the offensive player makes a mistake. In real life players make quick, precise passes and as we all know, the passes in 2K tend 2 be slow and delayed making 4 an unrealistically high number of turnovers.

Me...I never play zone. Now I'm not saying I have a problem with players who incorporate it in their game. I just don't respect players who run it the entire game. In my opinion, ur relying on the cpu 2 do all of the work 4 u cause ur scared of getting beat on defense. I don't even understand how u can brag while utilizing those tactics. 4 this reason, the only games I play online anymore are against people on my friend list. U can't get an honest, honorable game anymore online. I like 2 mix up my offense with a good balance of plays and freelance basketball...and every game isn't a track meet. 2K really needs 2 fix these online issues cause the fun factor for me is gone.

My opinion is that your basically telling us to basically play like Novices. These methods are all cheese methods, exploited things that require NO skill. But the problem is that IT'S NOT IN A REAL NBA GAME (if you haven't notice, this game is ADVERTISED AS A SIM GAME.) We all have skill, but we aren't asking it to get removed unless its not used. Seriously, you're butting in to this like you think your so great when you're not that great, and you're completely missing the point of zone is overpowered and needs to be toned down.

Your methods will not even be that Effective let alone win you a Game! Here's what my Experience with cheesers/cheesing and how to make you still lose:

If someone is dunking on me all game ill use zone.
Counter: I'll just jack up open 3s with my open corners. If I can't get a 3, at least I got offensive rebounders!

if someone is using euro 3pters ill use full court press and double team
Counter: I'll throw a bomb cause I know that Pass Accuracy is for some reason jacked up and Im not stupid to find an open man, so I'll abuse 3s and the paint

if someone is steal spamming ill post up at half court or keep passing.
Counter: I'll double team you like an idiot, Set Constant Pressure, Go back and forth with Man 2 Man and Zone non stop, Try to push you out of bounce and I will most likely not stop spamming.

This is about the DUMBEST thing I've seen posted here in awhile....

Like I said earlier in this thread, I hate when people like yourself try to take threads like these and use them as a way to brag and boast about how GREAT you are at the game.

If you can honestly say that DEFENSE in this game is not broken, then I seriously doubt your intelligence as far as basketball goes. Instead of focusing on the issues, all you want to do is talk about how AWESOME you apparently are on defense. Suuuure.....

Even GOOD defensive players realize that the defense in this game is beyond BROKEN...and there are some CHEESER tactics that you just CANNOT stop in Man-to-Man. If you are going to sit there and deny this, your either dumb or ignorant.

Zone is definitely overpowered, but regardless...I'm 95% man defense, BUT if I'm facing a team like OKC or Miami then I am going to use 2-3. I don't care if i'm labeled a cheeser or garbage.

You CANNOT contain certain players using man defense, I don't care who says they can. You are lying if you claim you can keep Westbrook or LeBron in front of you and then have your AI rotate to come play effective help D.

See this is an actual real life situation. Also, this is a Realistic situation when zone can/should be used. Remember 2 years ago where Zone neutralized the slashing ability of the Heat? That's why they didn't when vs the Mavs.

Though, it's not possible that you can't defend with man. But zone can be used vs Slashers not an everytime, 100% during the game, what cheesers do. Zone is for vs Slashers like a LeBron, Westbrook, wade, etc. But man 2 man is for everyone else.

Man to Man = vs Shooters, Post Men, Everything basically;

Zone = vs Slashers, real Slashers, not people driving the paint with a random person;

We covered this topic like 5 months ago.. I been playing 2k13 since midnight release date so here's the reality.

Man defense is broken, this in no way means you can't become good at playing man defense.

You can be 100-10 online from playing good man defense but from a video game perspective when discussing things like the ultimate character build and things of that nature, zone defense wins against man in 2k13.

Since 2k13 is supposed to be a basketball sim, this would make man defense broken.
