    Re: Ign Review

The Shaq clip was so ******** because anyone who knows basketball, knows that the play that caused the whole floor to spread out is called an isolation play. It is used when def. is man to man and/or ballhandler feels he has advantage over defender.

The other video shows how noobish his controls are, that he couldnt hold down the trigger and turbo long enough to back Miller down and instead let go to early and then took a fade away with 10 seconds left on the clock. Why didnt he just kick it out and then call a Low Post play for Shaq? Because he is an ignorant underpaid/overpaid editor thats why!

In that funny Shaq clip, the CPU has to be controlling him. Otherwise, the video doesn't illustrate anything. His point was that the AI was messed up, so why would HE control Shaq to illustrate that?
I hope you dont think that was the CPU

Hil did a PREVIEW for Live. It wasn't a full review. Jon Robinson did the Live review where he gave it an 8.9. And he does go on for three lengthy paragraphs about problems in the gameplay. So its not like the Live review was a total rave. Plus, he says that graphically Live is 2 years behind ESPN. Ouch.

Yep, two different reviewers. And for what it's worth, Hilary does a much more thorough review than Jon. But again, your mileage may vary (I can't see the videos so I can't comment on people's responses to them-personally, I think they are a great idea for reviews and would like to see them become a standard feature, but I don't know how effective they are being here).

                  Another Take
Live 2005 is certainly the best of the series. It so much more refined from previous versions that even those who have never liked Live (myself included) may be surprised this year. It's not a perfect game, but then, sim basketball never seems to reach the level of depth found in football and baseball sims, unfortunately. What I like about Live, is that I feel in control of my player at all times. Every move is determined by me. The battles in the post are good, the one-on-one showdowns between star guards is high-quality, and the gameplay additions, like tip-in rebounds are all excellent. The slam dunk contest is unbelievable and raises the bar not only for sim basketball extras, but even raises expectations for NBA Street 3. Good stuff and if EA puts in the time, next year could offer up a true classic.

This is the last paragraph in the Live review. No doubt he was also involved in it.

goes to show im getting caught up in the hype of this review.

                      my bad.

my biasm will remain silent from now on until I get the whole picture. it still however doesnt dimiss the fact that he has contridicted himself numerous times over the years and shouldn't be reviewing games, if his own comphrenshion skills on the very words that he's typed aren't up to par.

As I said, if it wasn't the CPU, then there was no reason for him to show it. Did you read what he said?

Not only does Shaq look for the ball from far off the basket, he will often look for a lane to drive down for a powerful slam. It just doesn't look like Shaq. He'll shoot from outside (and clank, of course), do spin moves and fade away shots. He rarely dominates under the basket and I've actually seen him bullied by Andre Miller. Yes, little Andre the point guard -- bullying Shaq! It's because of the utter failure of the Shaq test,
He's obviously talking about the CPU controlling Shaq. Not a user. Of course, a user can control Shaq and make him play like Shaq. But he's criticizing the AI.

So, it wouldn't make sense for him to illustrate this with a clip where HE's controlling Shaq. What makes you think its user-controlled?
