Similar to KG, he will have high fade-away / hopshot abilities and tendencies. I do not feel that his OVERALL post game is on the level of the Al Jeffersons and Pau Gasols of the league.

I could not find any data or videos of Dirk doing other moves other than his fade away and step back. If you can provide me with something, I'll take a look at it.

Re: HyperBaller/DC NBA 2k13 Signature Skills Project

One thing I want to say to look at for, for all the roster makers out there.

Attributes need to be adjusted at times when a player has a sig skill. I know this might sound weird. But let's look at Nate Robinson.

Last year, Robinson shot 36.5% on his three pointers. For his career he is a 35.4% shooter. So let's just say he is worthy of an 82 three point rating. It doesn't matter if you think it should be higher or lower let's just roll with that number for now.

So that 82 rating is based on the fact that a player in the game will shoot at about 36% when he is playing.

However, Robinson will also most likely be given the Microwave signature skill. This means he can get hot, and he can get hot fast. This is because in real life, Robinson can get really hot really fast and straight up get buckets.

We all know this. Dude can catch FIRE.

However, his shooting percentage in real life is also based on his ability to catch fire and knock down a lot of shots in a row or in a shot amount of time.

He is being rewarded for being able to get hot from the 3 point line twice! He is rewarded with his original 82 rating, and then he is also given a Microwave signature skill that allows him to get a BOOST to that original rating in given circumstances.

So what I am saying, is over the course of a season in 2k13, Robinson will shoot 36% when he is not on fire, because he has an 82 rating. However, he will inevitably catch fire throughout the season as well, and will have a greater chance than 36% to make his three point shots. Therefore, over the course of a season with him, his shooting percentage will be higher in the video game than in real life.

To account for this, Robinson should be given a three point rating of, say, 75. So normally, he will be making shots at about a 33% clip, then every once and a while he will catch fire and make them much more efficiently than that. Over a lot of games, that will eventually balance out to around 36%.

I think that this logic applies to a lot of other skills as well.

EDIT: This logic is similar to why Kobe has relatively average shooting stats. It is his high Shot in Traffic Rating that allows him to play like a superstar.

You are absolutely right. This is why these signatures skills are such a big deal. Before we could not mimic hot/cold streaks or one's ability to make heavily contested shots.

Lets use Kobe and (random player) and give them both 81 Mid Range shot. In years prior, both players generally had the same chance of making a shot if it was contested. However, with Kobe having a DEADEYE signature skill, when his shot gets contested, his rating would still be 81. But if (random player) shot a contested shot without that skill, his rating could drop to as low as 69 in that situation.

In the roster we will be releasing, all of these factors will matter in assigning ratings.

Great idea to begin with this project early Hyperballer. I'm pretty sure once 2K13 drops, the adjustments along the way are going to be way easier.
Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.

Thanks Aloncho. We are kind of in a standstill until the game drops so we can see EXACTLY what we are working with as far as new ratings, abilities, sig animations, and tendencies. I'm excited this year though.

I know you have great knowledge of the classic players, and your suggestions are great.

Hyper, have you decided what sig skills you may give to Wall yet? I was just curious. I might consider: Acrobat, dimer/alley-ooper, chase down defender, pick-pocket.
Also if you could share some insight on why you chose the sig skills you did, it would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to the project and good luck!

Acrobat - Athleticism allows him to adjust his shots in mid air
Finisher - He led all Points Guards in And1's with 49 last season
Intercept - Speed, quickness, and stealing ability allows him to get into passing lanes
Shot Creator - Able to break down defenders to get his shots off.

I may consider giving him Alley Ooper.

I don't know if Highlight Film has been talked about, but this is a list of players who I think deserve it, based off of previous dunk contests:

                      Russell Westbrook
                      Gerald Green
                      Paul George
Javale McGee (sometimes to a hilarious fault)
                      Andre Igoudala
                      Josh Smith
                      Demar Derozan
                      J.R. Smith
                      Nate Robinson
                      Jeremy Evans
                      Chase Bidinger
                      Rudy Gay
                      Shannon Brown
                      Hakim Warrick
                      Michael Jordan
                      Scottie Pippen
                      Julius Erving
                      Clyde Drexler
                      Dominique Wilkins
                      Spud Webb
                      Shawn Kemp
                      Kenny Smith

Thank you! Intercepter is much better than pick-pocket for him. I forgot about the finisher skill...I think I thought closer and finisher were the same.

Its possible. His block rating will be high enough to where he really does not need the skill. I would have to test this out once I get the game.
