Just wanted to give you an update on a couple things.


First off, I see lots of discussion again about how we give out random cards. We do not track how many games you have played, what you purchased, or how strong your deck is then adjust your drop rate in draft or purchased packs. On the draft board it is a random chance, not evenly random but a fixed random percentage, that the reset card will be either an Energy or a Rare card (i.e. Energy cards do drop more frequently than Rares but it is he same percentage chance each board). If it is a Rare card then there is a chance it will be an Epic or a Legendary (again not an even chance, but a fixed chance). Once rarity is determined another random roll is done to determine which card it is from that pool of rarity. This has nothing to do with the number of games you played, so although you may feel like the game is smartly avoiding giving you certain cards, it isn't. It's all luck based.


For purchased packs, the random percentages have absolutely zero to do with your deck strength, prior purchases, draft pulls, number of games played, etc. Each pack has a random chance to be a particular rarity followed by a random chance of which card it is based on the theme of the pack. For example, a Team Pack will have a random chance to be Common -> Epic (again, not an even chance, but a fixed random percentage), but it will always drop a player from your MVP Team per the rules of the theme. The Epic Pack has a chance to be either a Legendary or Epic, it is weighted more towards Epics, but there is still a good chance it would be Legendary, and the player is derived from the entire pool or Epics and Legendary cards.


The multi-card packs (6 Player and 6 Player Division) basically have a chance to drop certain rarities per "slot". One of those slots will always give you either a Rare or Epic card. So, if you want a guaranteed Rare card the 6 Player packs are the best deal.


Hopefully that helps you all understand how it works.


For Rivals, we'll be announcing the next event later this week. I'm just waiting for some text to get translated for the announcement. We have a lot of great match ups planned ahead, but if anyone has anything in particular you would like to see, let us know. And before I get a zillion requests, yes, we have a Bulls vs. Heat match up planned already. No, it is not going to be this week.


As I said before, the rewards and rankings have been drastically changed based on the feedback from last week's event. We will be giving away nothing less than a Rare, and Epics and Legendary cards will be given away as rewards in much lower tiers than before. We of course will have special Rivals Clash cards available for the higher tiers too, but even those we are giving away more than last time. We are also giving away a special reward for the #1 player this time. EyeGotSoul may have some competition. ;-) Finally, none of the rewards will be random. There will be no packs given away this time. The rewards will all be fixed and displayed at the start of the event. You'll know exactly what you'll get from each tier.

Cool, "DatNigga" theory got a definitive response =D. Thanks for more info on packs and rates; really appreciate that.
Cant wait for Bulls vs Heat rivalry! But if Derrick Rose rivalry card is released , I expect current legendary Derrick Rose to be nerfed. Nerfed as in decrease the stats that he has as a Legendary card because for the past 2 years, he has not lived up to those stats. Rilvary Derrick Rose should have the stats that he had based on his performance during the years of rivalry. I think this should be taken into account for all cards when there's a player becoming a rivalry card, but already in the game.
I'm not saying to take away Derrick Rose's legendary rarity because its unfair to those who currently own him. However, player's stats need to be simply updated in general for better or for worse. Especially when new rivalry cards are being implemented, I think its also an opportunity to update at least some cards (doesnt have to be all), and maybe add in one a new one like Reggie Miller for example.

I'm not entirely sure if you're serious. The current app market is flooded with games that are all about spending money on in-app purchases. Even the actual NBA 2k14 game on PS4 is about either spending money on gold packs to keep up in MyTeam, or exploiting their gm game mode to get VC to use on packs.

There's also another similar manager type NBA app on the market, but those kind of games are all about an energy system where you can only play a certain amount before waiting to play again. Either that or spend money to automatically recharge and keep playing. Those games make me sick, which is why I like the fact that we can play continuously as long as we want in this game.

Don't get me wrong, I criticize a lot of aspects of this game a lot and probably complain too much, but we're all here because we enjoy the game and it's much better than the other money-sucking crap on the market.

I beg to differ. If you see my signature, I've won 2/6 seasons, with one epic pro and one legendary and legendary support. My Season LU, that won those two times in a row, uses 4/13 Epics I own, and 1 legendary player and 1 legendary support. One of those 4/13 epics I don't even play unless I want to save energy. I've only ever bought 2 epic packs, which were useless epics: Robert Parish and NeNe--waste of 40$. I've come to realize that winning seasons is based on appropriate strategy, so you're not matched up with people you cannot beat.

lol do u even participate in rivals event? all u have to do is play and get a guaranteed reward. while still getting picks for draft board and also playing season.. lol u cud have a good lineup without spending a cent on the game

You know...all I will say is: you learn a thing or two if you read this forum, especially the posts that were past said. I've learned something particular from Anchen, and I finally started winning my seasons.
I will give one tip of the two new tricks I started to use. I remember Shokase gave advice, and I found it to work. I'll dig up the quote, but all "strategies" I use I've picked up observing the top dog player's (that are here) LU and advice they give.

A little word of advice for u, dont start seasons in the morning. Just think about it what kind of people pay attention to this much so much that they keep track of it 24/7? Tryhards. Best best is to start a season afternoon when all the noobies come from school and check their phones and c that theybgot eliminated while they were in school so they start a new one.

Also if u lose the finals to a person with better stats than u than dont start the season right away. Cuz most likely that person will also start a season right away too.

This tip with others combined helped me, but you gotta dig it up yourselves.

Do you think it is possible to restructure the season rewards in such a way that we discourage tanking? I hear too much about people tanking in the first round in the unlikely chance of getting a dupe epic.

While there is a certain logic in this, you are forgetting its a global game. So you really can't figure out when is the "best" time to start a season (for me, personally it's around 4-5pm, so the playoffs start early morning, when i wake up. For most of you my 4-5pm is early morning). And btw, my lineup is over 3000 in each category, i did and do play alot, and i really think that as far as seasons go (i won 3) it is based on a lot of luck during the matchmaking process

Never thought I'd be the guy to be saying this: "another useless epic." I won't say useless, because the more epics I have the more likely I am to have a dupe so to speak. To be more appreciative, I'll say, "another epic that won't improve my season LU unless duped."



Another season win, so I can finally declare a winning streak! 2/6 season wins lol. I feel like the game is teasing me though. I desperately need a PF to at least make the cut of being better than Anthony Davis. however, the last 2 epics I received were Pau Gasol and now David Lee.

I came in 60th actually. Got a Byron Scott that isn't even good enough to be in my season at all.

I have rare pros and a couple epics that aren't good enough to be in my lineup. I have to start a season in which I am, for all intents and purposes, better than 81 random people. The odds of one of those people buying packs is great. This is the definition of a money-sucking app. How can I possibly make my team better besides spending $20 for one card or the .001% chance of drafting a legendary card or an epic duplicate.

My season that I just finished had some guy named "Brasil." Then I began to wonder if the time I started got me stuck with people that aren't even close to my time zone. Throughout the playoffs, most players started their first round without being fully energized. I wondered why, but I couldn't care less because it was in my <b>favour</b>. These people were probably in another time zone where they were sleeping. only until I played someone mid way through 2nd round did the player start to refresh their LU. I ended up sweeping everybody up to the finals, and won the finals matchup 4-1.
My point is, even if someone in a different time zone gets stuck with you, as long as you can play, you can benefit from that.

Regardless of all this, dude, I'm only like 2.3k+ rating in all areas, so that's why these tips help me more than you. I'm still at the stage where there are more people weaker than me, than stronger. You're getting closer to the stage where it's more competitive; people monitor their season more closely, various legendaries being used, etc
