OS Concerns: All-Star 2016 Pack Glitch
If the customer left the store with the item (assuming he checked out and the item rings up as $0 cost) under the impression that it was free, they wouldn't have to give it back. In your example, the employee gets sued and pays for the damage he's done to the store, customer should not have to give it back.

Re: OS Concerns: All-Star 2016 Pack Glitch
I don't think this has been brought up in this debacle, but this "packening" was probably supposed to be set up like their other flash sales in which only one pack can be bought in a specified time period. Someone obviously forgot to set the one limit cap. Jus my $0.02

Re: OS Concerns: All-Star 2016 Pack Glitch
Your comparison is as far off as the the people using banks as an example.
The correct example could use a bank though. For instance ATM machines have been known to spray out free money. This happens multiples times a month throughout the U.S.A. Now in this scenario, just like the one playing out here, the "innocent people" are just being lead to believe someone is having a "sale" or "getting something for free" Many people are charge with crimes because of this each year thanks to those nifty cameras installed in all ATM's.
Now a lot of people here aren't even qualified to respond as they have. That isn't a slam against anyone it is just if you are not from the U.S.A. nothing that applies in your country will automatically apply here, and since the game is run and operated out of the U.S., those are the laws that apply.
Now here is a federal law for all of you in the U.S. " Being clueless, unaware or ignorant of the laws does not make a reputable case. Every single person who took advantage of this glitch knew exactly what they were doing. You darn well knew CD wasn't giving out literally $100,000's of free packs. If you don't have common sense, well that also isn't an excuse. CD, like almost all internet gaming companies in the U.S. , are also highly protected from the law. You can threaten to sue this and that and 99.9999% of the time you will be laughed at long before they even tell you it isn't going to court. There is this thing call a TOS that we agree'd to when we joined the game, and log in each day, that states these cards are CD property and they own and have the right to do " WHATEVER" they want pertaining to such cards.Comment

I'm shaking my head here reading some of these comparisons actually. Some of you guys really try to bend the facts here to make those who got free packs feel like they committed crimes.
You are talking about two different sectors here, which one of which is a lot more regulated than the other, so you're comparing apples to oranges. ATMS should NEVER give out money for free, they never run any promotions, period. We are talking about a game here that often offer discounts of their packs around holidays or major NBA events. The former is a federal crime, but the latter isn't because there is no federal crime in acquiring product/service from a business with a price mistake.
For the record, they've offered the AS packs for 25%, 35%, and 50% off, and all those sales lasted for HOURS. The 100% sale lasted only ONE hour, which leads to me think that they tried to offer one free pack for those active and dedicated players who happens to be playing the game at that time, for a short window of time. They somehow forgot to put a cap on the purchase amounts, which led to the incident. Again, not a federal crime.

Re: OS Concerns: All-Star 2016 Pack Glitch
You just proved you have no reading comprehension. Never did i allude to this being a federal crime or on that level. I simply used the federal law statement as a way of people not wasting time with comebacks like my states allows this and my state allows that, which are all true, states have different laws, but can't conflict with the fed laws. Simple point over the head of children and young adults though.
Point is those AS will be gone soon enough. I am certainly not the salty one as i would just move on to another game if nothing is done, like many of the other big spenders that fit in to the same bracket as me. So yes i am sure this will be rectified in some way, and no i don't think the people who took advantage committed a federal crime, or any crime at all. In fact i don't even believe anyone deserves to be punished for this.
That still doesn't make all the people who did what they did, knowing full well they were wrong, regardless of the bs they spout about not knowing, good people. No they are children who were raised wrong and a large portion of them will be living off the system in a few years. Your welcome for my tax money too!Comment

Re: OS Concerns: All-Star 2016 Pack Glitch
Quite frankly, doing something, doing nothing, I think we all realize that at this point, both options come with its own set of problems. Anything short of highly targeted restoration that leaves no one cheated (super unlikely at this point) is going to upset someone.
At this point, the main issue to me isn't what are they going to do about this problem. The entire handling of such a major problem leaves me with no confidence with CD. I can't imagine a lot of people wanting to spend money on this game now. Why would you? The developer clearly has no crisis management and seems not to care about game balance or its paying customers. It's really flabbergasting considering that they have to pull these customers back for next season. I may or may not continue playing considering that in a few events, I'll have a strong enough lineup to not care about foil AS decks. But I certainly wouldn't spend money and I can't see myself coming back next year.Comment
