I'm bumming right now because I can't put in anytime with it further until I get my system. I however did purchase both games this time so I'll be playing them both once I get rolling.
Playmakers did you notice Manu playing his usual awkward, but effective game. They got him down pretty well.

you can bash the gameplay if you think it doesnt compare to the 2k series everyone has their own opinion but you cant bash the graphics. this is an amazing looking game, I was at gamestop playing it at the mall last weekend on a samsung hdtv and people were lining up to look at it. It looks scary real, the gameplay was ok not bad but u cant knock the visuals.

Sorry man, no matter how you want to sugar coat it and make it sound like a decent game. Live 360 is a joke, especially with the effort 2ksports brought to the table. Its not even in the same generation or league. Live is a great disappointment. After seeing the videos on IGN and Gamespot I was giving it hope to purchase both games. But after playing it waaaaaaaayyy! before it came out. The disappointment was just too high....The sliding IMO should not still be in Next Gen, Zombie faces are just stupid, The skinny and misproportioned player models are just sad. Everyone talking about stadiums....the stadiums have a foggy lighting experience, that looks good so what, they are too dark..reminds you of the first outing of Inside Drive. The players move like Zombie Robots stuck in the matrix, even with the speed at 100%. Your player still move all over the court with no sense of direction, and the A.I hits everything, there are no sliders or anything that will fix this game. The pre-game warmup during the loading screen moves faster than the actual gameplay on the court. The sweat effect during the game is over done I mean really!!!!

On the videos shown online the crowds were looking good...play the actual game..and they are just blurred polygons and it looks really stupid. Be honest with yourselves, EA messed up. They are allowed to make mistakes because of their previous history of doing so and really not doing anything about it. But they are a rich corporation w/ half the world worshipping Live. The game can be delivered with a year supply of doggy poop. And every one would love it. So they thought....

Majority of the real basketball gamers...Got 2k6, no longer is it a fanboy thing. Its a gamer thing. If your a gamer don't settle for this crap of a game. Hopefully EA will see a decrease in sales and realize they need to step it up...and come better next year....(crossing my fingers)(and splashing holy water on EA logo)(be gone demons and bring back the Live game we once Loved )

WOW... everyone is entitled to their own opinions... you have a serious hate for live though...

Keep this on Live fellas. We aren't here for a debate.

Back on topic though, I have thought about giving Live a purchase, just because my willpower isn't very strong when it comes to basketball videogames.

Thank you for that. I think you will get some joy out of this game. Especially if Playmakers gives the sliders some nice tweaks. Also the in game strategy is worth a look. Ex I was playing against the Sonics with the Sixers. Allen was lighting Korver (who is slow of foot) up. So without pausing the game I was able to switch Iguodala on to him and Korver was then on Lewis. Then the a.i starting going to Lewis, who then preceded to give Korver the buisness. However it was nice to not pause the game and get things done.

Yeah, it's the innovative things like that which make me want to try the game at least. I have the demo downloaded, but have yet to play it. I'll probably end up giving the full version a try. Thanks for the impressions.

                Hey WTF,

You should rent LIVE and check it out. I used to own it and ended up selling it since there were a few things I didn't like about the game. I ended up picking up 2K6.

I think that EA will have a strong NBA LIVE next year if they could fix the camera angles in this game and add the Superstar Freestyle. The camera angles really messed up my gaming experience with Live. There was something about the atmosphere that didn't pull me in either.

I will say that the arenas and player models just look incredible. This game is LIVE05 meets LIVE06 without the freestyle superstar.

                  Re: It's not that bad

Sounds good. I'll probably just go ahead and pick it up. I have some unused credit at a EB games, so I'll use that.

Maybe we'll hoop it up sometime this weekend on XB Live if I get a chance. I haven't even been on to accept any friends requests yet though. I have like 15 FR that I haven't accepted :y4:

This game does look okay though. It may not be my cup of tea, but I should at least give it a fair shake as I do w/ all games, especially basketball.

                    Re: It's not that bad

I played a great game last night and lost 101 - 100 but it was the most fun I have had out of all my 360 games except COD2, I also own Madden and PGR3. I'll admit I am not as versed in basketball as most of you in this forum, which is probably a good thing because I am naive to all the flaws that many are seeing.

Many don't like the camera but I like what they are attempting to do, If you are going to have such beautiful player models why not stay as close to the action as possible. It sucks when the camera lags behind the pass and you have to take a blind jumper or wait till the camera catches up, but I hope they refine this part of the game as it really adds to the immersion.

Also the game speed is a tad slow even at 100 but at least the speed difference between players seem right. Lastly free throws are pretty hard but I am getting the hang of it, it's all about smoothness, I hit 2 with Shaq last night.

Next years version will be one of my more anticipated games, especially if they add all of the last gen stuff and increase the game speed. With that being said I can understand why the die hards would be dissapointed especially coming from the Xbox/PS2 version. The gameplay is fun to me, and the graphics, IMO, are the best of any game so far. PGR3 has great graphics but IMO it's harder to make realistic looking humans than cars.

I'm going to be late getting started on this game because I don't have a sytem.....

But I should get it about 2 weeks and I've only played my copy of Live briefly and really liked what I saw for the limited time. Personally as I mentioned before I don't care for franchise modes, dunk contest and things of that nature because I usually move on to other games after 1 season with these sports titles. So, the lack of features really don't upset me at all.

I heard that the players don't show any emotion but hey aslong as the gameplay is good I don't really focus on those things either whether it's football, baseball or basketball. I guess it's expected since it's Next Gen but I'm not the type who's going to become depressed because my players aren't frowning or taunting or something.

I agree on the floor spacing and fastbreaks I was actually shocked to see those things in my brief time playing it. I'm not huge on graphics but it was great to see that Live looked brilliant. But for me gameplay was most important and that's what I liked about your review the most......

Damn man you bring so much to the table with these games it's a shame you don't have the system yet. I will definetly waite on your work because at first I didn't like the current system Live until you put together the sliders and playbooks. I will definetly old on to my copy and waite for your results though. As for the original poster I agree completley. This game is pretty good and I think it gets ripped for lack of feautures more than anything. I own both games aswell and I've been playing 2K's game more often right now. But Live is still pretty good. I have somethings that I don't like but they are minor complaints. Overall it's a game worth atleast renting. Playmakers good luck on getting a system man becuse with your work I'm sure many guy's could enjoy Live once your done.

                        good base game

This live on 360 is really good if you like arcade ball then go back to the old gen versions that are out. To say that that live is good is a joke once you go superstar freestyle its no stopping it. Im loving this live cause you can actually play defense live on the old gen versions are just shootouts. This is a good base live for them to start cant wait to see what 07 is gonna be like. The only problem I have is online challenging someone has yet to be found.

                          Re: It's not that bad

I can't say enough about the spacing on the court. You can really work the ball and get a good shot. I have never seen a game where you can kick it in the post and then kick it back out to the perimeter, swing it around the perimeter and get a open shot in the opposite corner or opposite wing, taking advantage of the double team that happened in the post. Ex this is what happened last night. I was playing with the Heat against the Lakers. Walker threw it into Shaq, Mihm and LO doubled him leaving Posey in the corner. Shaq threw it to Williams at the top of the key, who swung it to Wade on Posey's side on the wing, Wade made the extra pass to the corner for the three. LO was late getting back and splash. I have never been able to do this on a game on the hardest level, with such execution. If someone can figure out how to get the players to attempt more layups instead of dunks this would be the game.

The only two gameplay problems I see.
                          1. Defense is hard to play on the ball.
                          2. Way to many dunks

Go to the Sliders and lower the Dunk vs Layup Percentage. I don't have a system yet so I haven't messed with sliders but this should help you out.

Also for defense increase ON Ball Defensive assist if this slider is still in the game aswell.

Both are still in the game. I adjusted the dunk vs layup slider but I raised it thinking that higher than half would be the layup and below 50 would be the dunk. I guess I thought wrong, huh. Man playmakers you have to get this game, you will love the spacing. Also it is so fun to play san antonio and watch Ginobili. He plays awkward and twists and turns just like real life. In fact Kerr even made mention to this in the game. There is no cheating at all with the cpu on superstar. I repeat none.
