    EA's player ratings?

Has anyone noticed on the ratings EA has assigned certain PG's like Nash a pass first PG or Kevin Garnett a All Around PF?

I haven't looked at most ratings but I"m curious as to how those player ratings effect gameplay.

Does it mean if you change most PG's into pass first will they look to dribble drive and kick out more often?

These ratings didn't use to be in Live 05 so I wonder how they effect each player if you tweak them throughout the league....

      YES!

I'm going to mess around with the Hardness rating and Offensive/Defensive awareness ratings and see if that helps more defenders get back on defense or stay in front of their man.

I'm going to tweak two teams rosters and adjust those ratings and see how it reacts.

        Re: EA's player ratings?

Well I tested Houston and Dallas by lowering the 3-Point ratings for all Houston Players down to 0 accept T-Mac just for testing reasons and the Rockets players past up 3's more often accept T-Mac.

They had 11 total 3 pt attempts for the game with T-Mac shooting 6 of them in the game. That was down from 23 attempts in a test game with Default ratings. So you can see they still will shoot 3's and make them even with guy's on 0 ratings. It basically just helped to stop guy's from launching them at a higher rate. I'm going to find a reduced rating of around 50 and below for average shooters and leave the impact 3 point shooters like Kobe and T-Mac at their Default ratings. So, it will balance out things much better that way Ryan Freakin Bowen won't even think about shooting a 3 pointer in a game he will step in closer before he does that shot.

I also tested the DEF AWR ratings. Here what I noticed EA has the awareness defensively of about 75% of the League extremelly low IMO. I'm talking about most players are under 70 and that might explain why so few guy's get back and set up slow defensively especially for the Human player.

I did a test chart for both team with me controlling Dallas. I gave ranges of 75-100

        75-80 was for average defenders

80-90 was for above average defenders

        90-100 was for elite defenders

Basically only Darrell Armstrong who was a 70 at Default for Dallas was moved up to a 90 because Armstrong is a very good defender and has high awareness in real life yet EA screwed him up in the game. The other player was Mutombo for Houston who was already at 90 then increased to 95 which helped him react quicker away from the ball if one of my players were driving to the rack. He would come over to help much quicker.

But overall what this did was make guy's become better off the ball defenders and they helped out quicker and got back sooner to stop fast breaks. I also made sure this wouldn't take away from the drive and dish game where defenders couldn't get sucked in and magically recover to get to shooters on perimeter and still allowed catch and shoot gameplay.

My next test is going to be on Player speeds and quicknes because Devin Harris of Dallas was rated 74 and he's one of the quickest PG's in the NBA. That might be why players appear to move so slow during gameplay because their speed ratings are way low aswell. I'm hoping to increase the fast break defensive awareness by players, reduce the amount of overall 3 point shots taken and speed up gameplay at it's DEFAULT 50 setting by increasing in game Player speed and quickness ratings without touching the gameplay slider speed.

If these 4 ratings helps to improve a few more gameplay issues that's I've noticed then I'll let everyone know the ratings I assigned certain players.

          This is great PM.

If this is for current gen, I'd be really interested in your findings.

Man, that's a big find for real. Did you receive poster of the year Playmaker? Definitely curious about that joint. One thing that had cracked me the hell up is the same dumbness with Bruce Bowen in the other game. He touches it too much around the arch for my liking in 2K. Makes no dam (in the river) sense. You'd think with all this advanced technology, they'd fix those little things.

            Great stuff though Playmaker.

Looks like this was for 360 version. For the older system's PM did such an amazing job all I needed to do was plug in his sliders and playbooks and the game was freakin awesome. I'm still getting my money's worth today on the XBOX version. It amazes me how PM got those playbooks scary realistic because if you play the Lakers Odom is setting up out high make passes to Kobe as he cuts to the basket and then you play the Wizzards and Arenas is coming at you off the dribble all game. I'm having as much fun with the XBOX version as the 360 because of these things. He has teams switching up zones and traps during games that I've never seen before.

So, if PM is breaking something down chances are he's going to find something new to add or change because the guy is great with these games. EA should have dedicated people willing to do these things that PM does and we wouldn't have to make all these adjustments just to enjoy our $60 bucks out the box.

So is it safe to say leave all the All- Stars 3pt. shooting to Default, and move the above average players 3pt. shooting down to 50 or Zero!! Also move the Def Awareness,Speed, and Quickness up to 85 or above on all the players on every team!!

I was hoping we did'nt have to go this route cause it's seems like a long process, but I see what Ur talking about, low caliber players taking unnessary shots selections such as the 3ptrs, & players overall is not getting back on Defense needs to be Tweak and balance to give us the results we're looking for, and last we might need to grazed the Gameplay sliders to balance these new player ratings, if so I'm ready to go work on them!!

I'm going to get back into this on the weekend once I return from vacation. But I think that the ratings are screwing with the gameplay overall. I've noticed a huge difference just by lowering 3-pt ratings of certain players and boosting up DEF Awareness ratings aswell.

Tried this a bit and it makes the game even better

I think i'll just do this one game at a time...ie. before i play each team in a season. Too much effort to do all at once!

Looking for a new team to use...the Knicks are woeful, i can't defend anybody

I think Tony Parker definitely needs his 3 pt shooting lowered. He used to bomb, but this season he has like 20 attempts.

                          Re: EA's player ratings?

Wow...looking at the ratings a bit more and some are INSANE.

No wonder the game is so slow + some players don't defend at all / defense in transition is missing.

Using Ben Wallace as the top defender, EA gave him high 90's defensive awareness...fair enough.

But TONNES of other players are in the 40's / 50's.

Now, I know some NBA players don't play much defense nowadays...but the amount of guys down in the 40's and 50's means they basically can't play D in this game.

Most guys CAN at least partially stay in front of their defenders in the NBA most times...these ratings explain why they don't in this game.

Speed also is way down...way, way down.

I played one game where I edited ALL of Detroits starting 5 into the 90's for defensive awareness AND edited both Detroit and The Bulls (who I used) up to a speed rating scale of 75 onwards...

The game played much better...much better pace + D.

However...it takes ages to do all the players and I really don't think I can be stuffed doing this for every team

At the moment, I'm playing a lot of 2K6 360.

May edit LIVE one game at a time...

So the reason why the plays are so slow is because there speed ratings are so slow? Wish EA would fix this or give us ability to trade rosters.
