I completely agree here, this game definitely has a scripted feel to it. It really is hilarious to watch these "runs" in action. You will work hard to get open shot after open shot, miss them all, and the cpu will be jacking up and swishing the craziest stuff. And if they happen to miss, what do you know they get an offensive rebound!

The more I time I spend with the game, the more unplayable it is becoming due to this very issue.

It's all about runs, but you can keep it close, I usually have trouble in the 3rd quarter and it's usually because i stop running plays and begin forcing it after missing a few shots, but thats got nothing to do with scripting IMO.
I understand runs because defenses tighten up, but when wide open shots magically start missing and the other team makes fadeaway 3's, thats just not right, It has the feeling of bein out of control. Love the game tho By the way, also with that said it happens in the 2k series.

Yeah, I've posted this in other threads. Two things are plaguing this game IMO. The predictable runs and the quick shooting by the cpu. I had no idea the big run/catch up was evident in human v human because I've only played vs the cpu.

As I stated before, I get a double digit lead in at least 90% of the games I've played. I don't recall if I've ever not had a team make a big run on me. I understand teams that are behind will start taking quicker shots but there needs to be more of a variation in the result. Teams taking quick, poor shots should run a greater risk of also getting blown out. Right now it's all catch up.

            I dunno... I don't see this as a problem.

I think there is a slight computer assistance code to keep the game closer, but I believe this disappears in the last quarter. I felt that last year online, too, you'd play a team and they would be getting all kinds of trash. I just kept telling myself if I played smart in the fourth I'd win. I still feel that same way.

It's impossible to miss inside if you get a good shot. Maybe you should stop holding turbo while you shoot lay ups? You might get blocked, but you won't miss if you know how to do it. I guess what you should do is... when your jumpers aren't falling... go inside? Either that or just keep shooting.

The runs happen but when you break them, it shows it's possible but not every team should be able to come at you every game. There should be some games where teams don't make those kind of runs. I've had them but we're tending to only notice those that do.

I just want to understand the DNA shooting side of things. If a good jumpshooter has 10 uncontested jumpers, will he hit a great percentage of them or will it still hover around his DNA percentage meaning it is running via script?

That's what I'd like to know most. The runs and comebacks are fine by me because I can break them if I really concentrate, play proper ball, slow it down, timeouts, etc. They are not a concern but I hope these DNA percentages are not scripted.

It just sucks to feel like you're playing really good, the cpu is playing really bad, and you're actually down a couple points.

I get that feeling wayyy too often.

I had this happen to me a couple times. There are times I can hold them off when they make a run, there are times that a player cant be stopped. I remember playing a game against the Nuggets, was using the Twolves and Melo lit me up in the 4q. I also led majority of that game.

Do you guys usually play as the visiting team? Noticed that the crowd seem to fire them up if their on a run, which I think affect the level of play.

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted

I have always thought that the DNA was more of the individuals tendencies on the court with ratings being separate of course. If you go to the DNA scouting report, the report gets into more detail about how that player plays. What percentage of the time he drives left or right, does he pull up for the jumper or finish at the basket.

If a player likes to Spot Up 35% of the time that doesn't mean he should hit that shot regularly. It's based on the ratings from that point on I guess.

I absolutely agree with the OP that the game is scripted on All Star and above. Just today I plugged in L4Ds sliders on the PRO level and NBA Live is now much more believable and the game is more addicting than ever.

I just got the game today, my first four games on All-Star the CPU went into near unstoppable mode in the 4th quarter in every one of them. Part is me getting used to the game part of it was them hitting ridiculous stuff.

On allstar and superstar the cpu goes into the vinnie johnson mode too often while the team your using played liked they were blind people. But once i started using pro with sliders adjusted i have been having great games.

This is kinda funny because just a few days ago the response to someome saying the game feels scripted would have been "play better defense","use better basketball strategy" or "you have to read the DNA scouting report" LOL. I don't care what anybody says but when jeff foster starts driving the lane and hitting Jordan style circus layups and getting the foul, the dna means absolutely nothing at that point.

Well the Warriors did go on a 19-0 run to end the game and beat me by four at MSG.

I agree with the problem being semi related to the lack of fouls. When the going gets tough in basketball coaches urge players to attack the rim and get to the FT for some easy points. That element is basically missing from Live right now because of the lack of CPU fouls, hopefully the patch really helps this.

I understand where you guys are coming from, I was loving the game, but hated playing the cpu on All-Star..I also didn't like dominating on Pro either. However, L4D's sliders have made this game a whole lot better IMO, and to me it makes the game feel less scripted and predictable.

the user being able to get to the line a reasonable amount is an issue, i agree.

The stats I posted vs the cpu arent an abberation though.. so I cant really say why folks are having the problem.
