This I agree with. I don\'t feel it\'s in effect online. I have to get better at the game and play more offline to really say, right now I do not get that feeling of scriptedness. But online I can say I do not think it applies. I\'ve beaten dudes by 20 with the Knicks so I know it\'s not happening there. But offline or rather human versus cpu I cannot say either way and honestly it doesn\'t bother me at all if it can be slidered up. But if it was happening online or human versus human I would definitely be an unhappy camper.

I wouldnt say this applies online, just for the human error factor...even though all my games have been decided by about 4 points or less...
I definitely dont think this is just in everyones head though LOLComment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
The more I play though the more random it is I suppose which is a good thing. Well, not random. I guess it depends on the team, situation, court, etc.
I played the Celtics on superstar in Miami. They never got within 15 points and we won easily by 20. I was stumped as I was expecting a big comeback or run or something but it never came. Then I had the Nuggets against the Celtics at the Pepsi (love playing the Celts and watching PP attack like he really does) and I got out to an early lead but then mid way through the 2nd and all of the 3rd, they were hitting tough shots and I was missing some easy open shots. I came back in the 4th to only go down by 5 but their run was in that 2nd and 3rd quarter. This game was only on All Star also.
Bottom line for me was I never felt cheated. I missed some wide open shots in that Nuggets game and they hit some contested shots but me saying 'how the hell did Melo miss that or how did PP hit that with Melo right in his face' reminded me of the same stuff I say when I watch a real telecast. We always wonder how some guys miss the open shots and how players hit the tough contested shot.Comment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
All I have to say about this is the CPU does go on runs but they do it in the same way i.e. attack the rim or shoot a quick 3. It never changes its always the same thing every time.
What this game needs is a better post up and mid range game. Right now the CPU almost never feeds the big man when their down. They also never post up w/ the bigger guards or utilize the mid range game.
They just jack up the quickest shot they see their's no strategy to it at all. The sad part about it is they make a lot of these shots too. You should not be able to play this desperate and be able to make comebacks every time imo.
Only the really great players can play this way not one dimensional players like Peja or Dunleavy. Which is always the case in this game.
The stars need to be fed and they need to play out of their minds, I don't want to be lit up by scrub players just because they were open. Honestly on comebacks the team game should go out the window sometimes and the stars should just take over.
I want to see Danny Granger hitting those big 3's or Kobe killing me from the mid range. Not Vujacic putting up a late game three because he had a shot or Troy Murphy trying to take me off the dribble because he has the ball. That stuff needs to go.
Basically what I'm saying is the wrong players are killing me in important parts of the game.Comment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
Well, I just played my first Dynasty game. I was using the Lakers vs Clippers. I had a wire to wire blowout. Beat them by like 30 points and they only had little runs of like 6 points at the most throughout the game, which I quickly stopped.Comment

Great points from everyone. These are the reasons why I haven't Ben able to play more games. To many strange things happen when they shouldn't. I do think if fouls were called more often the game would have better balance.Moderator

Hey Dirty, what difficulty you play on? Im playing on PRO with my shooting sliders like in the 20-30's and I have the CPU defense sliders all boosted pretty high. I had my foul sliders on full and I actually had to lower them because there was shooting fouls called on both teams like every other shot attempt.Comment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
Your right Jano...if it were LeBron killing me id be petty much be fine with it most of the time...but when I force it into a bad players hands and hes hitting contested shots, thats when it gets frustrating..
Im trying to find some good Pro sliders at this point but I have NO idea how to download them lolComment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
Alright guys I've been playing a few games now and I think I've found the problem w/ this game's AI. It has no mid range game at all they either drive or shoot after a pass. Other than that they do nothing else so when they get desperate they start doing this at a higher rate so it becomes hard to defend.
I have played against a lot of teams and they all do the same thing drive or shoot. Tyson Chandler scored 10 pts on me in the first 4 mins because of this.
He never tried to post me up he would just face up and try and take me off the dribble. This is a huge problem b/c the CPU can draw fouls at will so when they put their head down its almost an automatic foul.
The players pay no attention to the help they just drive to the basket w/ reckless abandon. For good reason b/c your AI teammates will do nothing to stop them anyway. And because there are basically no charges in the game you can do nothing to stop it.
If players just pulled up for more mid range shots and actually took the time out to post up this game would be a whole lot less "scripted."Comment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
I suppose if you play a game often enough you're going to see the underlying patterns.
I can see where you are coming from with the scripted comments, but think about it. What is the solution?
We want control... and we want sim.
The devs are trying to balance both.
If you go all control, then you can just work on which ever moves are successful, work on your shot timing etc. Youl'll end up getting high percentages and a not very sim game.
If you go all sim, then you take away control from the player and you might as well just watch the real thing.
I think Live 10 has got the balance right better than any other game so far. (I'm happy to be corrected on this)
I wonder whether it is scripted or if it's a team tendency or something. I was playing with the nuggets and at the start of the 3rd Marv comments that the Nuggets tend to perform weakly in the third. Sure enough the Nuggets performed weakly.
There may well be something going on under the bonnet that evens out the stats over the game.
Overall it doesn't bother me. It's better than having unrealistic stats. I don't think I've played as much as you guys so all the ebbs and flows still feel quite authentic to me. I do get the odd blowout with mismatched teams, yet in blowouts I've still had to deal with shooting slump here and there. I find panicking will let the other team back into the game, but if I just keep playing solid ball then I know my shooting touch will come back.
The game ain't perfect, and the more you play the more you'll become attuned to it's inner workings, but hey, it's still a pretty darn good gameComment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
Good points Wiffy but I honestly feel that a lot of the problems are stemming from the AI's refusal to shoot mid range shots. They will when a play is designed for a catch and shoot but other than that its a drive. Doesn't matter if its a big or a small they all do it. I would love to see some more variance here.
I can take Wade jamming it down my throat but I really hate seeing Felton pushing his way in w/ no consequences.Comment

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted
Not only the runs seem scripted but so do the blocks and rebounds. I've had way too many situations where an out of position defender gets the rebound and it warps in to his hands.
Also, does anyone else get the experience where the CPU gets way more offensive rebounds and it's impossible to block those players when they go up after the rebound?
I loved this game at first, but each game I play I like it less and less.
