Yep Im not saying the game is terrible by any means but it just sucks when the CPU just drives on me all day. While I have to worry about getting hit in the paint or having my shot blocked all the time. I just want the same thing applied to them Lol guess I can't have everything huh.

I'm confused now, lol. Problems stemming from the AI refusing to shoot mid range shots? Maybe that's pro but I think Live has one of the better mid range games we've seen. I'm getting punished by guys who love to shoot off the elbow for example. I could post my shot charts and they are showing a good deal of mid range shots.

It must be pro. You can't push your way to the rim with Felton or you usually get stripped. Well the CPU is for me.

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted

No I'm not talking about me playing as Felton if I tried to do that I'm getting stuffed no questions asked Lol. I'm talking strictly about the CPU here they do shoot mid range shots but most of the time its off of a catch and shoot.

When they iso or run pick n rolls they just go straight to the paint every time. You could say its due to bad D but damn give me a break sometimes.

If the guys tendency is to pull up he will but this isn't the case for evryone. Most players just drive all the way and a lot of times it makes no sense. It doesn't matter if KG is down there they are going to the paint and they usually face no consequences.

And because of the fact that the CPU can just draw fouls at will it can lead to some real frustrating gameplay for me.

So Pro is the best way to play this game? I've been trying to experiment with All-Star slider and it seems no matter what adjustment I make, the CPU ignores it..After my 3 games in my Dynasty, I never took a big lead against the CPU. It gets really frustrating. I had some wide open shots, but no dice. I'll try to mess with pro sliders, maybe I enjoy the game more...

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted

Tyson Chandler is not a post up player. He gets a majority of his points from alley's, clean up rebounds and a short jumper every now and then. Everyone will never be satisfied when it comes to sports games and dynasty modes. Whether its stats or gameplay something will always be wrong. The minute we go 82-0 in our dynasty is the very minute we no longer want to continue it. Now that we have an opportunity to have a losing record in a dynasty if we dont use stick skills, bball knowledge and come to play every night, its too scripted. The way I see it, their will never be a happy medium due to the fact of it being the A.I. The minute we pick up on patterns the easier the game becomes to beat.

I've only played a couple games against the CPU since having the retail but I gotta say as much as I played the CPU in the demo I loved being down in games. But I also liked the fact that I had the ability to come back. I never felt cheated.

What Im gonna do is start my dynasty alittle early and post up my results. It's gonna be interesting to see the standings for some of the users on OS and their record. The way I see it is, nobody should be going 72-10 in a season on a regular basis. Nothing wrong with having that 32-50 season. I mean thats what the off-season is for after all right....to rebuild possibly????

Call a timeout, run a play, find a good shot.

And if you're playing as a down-tempo team, stay patient and kill some clock.

^Exactly. And also if you mess with your tempo settings and put it to say half court. If you start trying to push the tempo and force things you'll notice a lot more turnovers and etc. So make sure you play at the tempo you have your team assigned to play.

Naw, you cant have everything...but this is a legit gripe...ive never heard the "no game is perfect" logic used so much in my life for a game here on OS lol Live is back man, ok, most of us agree, thats why we bought it...but this somnething alot of people are experiencing, and could maybe be addressed...

I said this with many sports games of late like Mlb the show 09 , Nhl 10 , EA Fifa and now it sounds like Live has it also
Just a case of when keeping it too real went wrong so at this point why even play anymore when your skill and sliders mean very little especially when it seems at key times you have zero control cause the AI is Forcing in stats

Re: Hate to say it but this game seems scripted

I dont know, but Im not seeing the scripted scoring. I dont have no great, mysterious insight, or tremendous skills.

All I do is manually guard every player, change D's and manually bring doubles when I need to, and let the game play out.

I think the source of frustration is coming from 3 areas:

                      1) Playing exculsively as 1 player on defense.

--I saw really quick that this wasnt going to work, so I quit doing doing it. I wanted control over my contests, double teams, and what kind of shots I wanted to try to make the cpu take, so I took control of it.

---I understand that this is not the way everyone wants to play. I'm weird, Im a DNA Nazi. I pause the game if a player is lighting me up, and check his DNA to figure out why it is happening. I check the DNA every time a new player comes on the floor.

In Dynasty mode, you can only see the DNA rating tendency while in the game, not the %'s, but thats better then going blind. In play now games you can see everything. In Dynasty mode, you have to scout before you start the game. I write the %'s down if I have to, but my memory is pretty good.

                      I'm weird like that.

                      2) The CPU offensive board crashing, giving them cheapie extra posessions

---Legitimate issue. patch and sliders will hopefully mitigate this

                      3) huge disparity between the fouls the cpu is able to draw, and the user's ability to do the same.

--The number 1 shortcoming of the game, in my opinion. So often, the bleeding can be stopped, if you can just get to the dang lane on the forays when you get hammered.

I have had a guy beat to the basket, and he smacks into me from the side, and I get no call.

I cannot get away with this when Im defending the CPU. If get beat to the spot, I get whistled, and the CPU does not.

I'm finding defense very hard to play now. I've noticed that when the CPU passes the ball along the perimeter and I switch defenders to keep up, there is a delay after I switch where my guy is standing in mud. They pass to an offensive guy on the wing, I switch to the on ball defender, and before I can get my guy to close in, the offensive player has launched a 3 with 2 feet of room.

It's also very difficult to stay in front of a ball handler if they drive to the hole. They usually blow by me no problem.

I don't think the game is scripted, its more that the runs are too obvious. You can definitely call rebounds, ridiculous shots and your team going cold. I don't know if the "run AI" is too simple or what but the lack of variety in how this seems to work can lend itself to this. Still, once you get past the game spitting in your face you can stop these runs and maintain control and your lead (or margin).

Defense seems like it comes down to the fact that the AI knows the angles and momentum system by heart and you as the gamer don't. Combine that with the stick movement in relation to the camera, and you have AI that seems to be able to get its own fouls while you can't. I feel that you probably could get those fouls but since you don't have a zen mastery of the game's physics you end up getting flustered instead.

I figure a couple weeks of DNA (I know it has last years but still) and the patch should eliminate these issues, because personally, the most frustrating things are the turnaround fadeaway threes and the fouls, along with PGs dribbling out the clock. Player Lock will actually work and maybe your teammates will get an all around pulse.

In some cases the answer is shot timing....But IMO, the answer to this question is not "timing your shot". I believe the OP is exactly right. I don't know how many times I've been up on my online opponent by double digits, only to go on the nastiest cold streak you can imagine. Suddenly, my opponent is within a point or two, or even takes the lead. Wide open jumpers are missed, layups are missed or simple passes are intercepted (not human controlled steals either). The AI has a diabolical mind of it's own in this game. Half the turnover in this game (online) aren't even user controlled....The computer just takes over. I have to agree with chisler on this one. It just tries to hard to get the numbers right.

We want control... and we want sim.

The devs are trying to balance both.

If you go all control, then you can just work on which ever moves are successful, work on your shot timing etc. Youl'll end up getting high percentages and a not very sim game.

If you go all sim, then you take away control from the player and you might as well just watch the real thing.

I think Live 10 has got the balance right better than any other game so far. (I'm happy to be corrected on this)

I wonder whether it is scripted or if it's a team tendency or something. I was playing with the nuggets and at the start of the 3rd Marv comments that the Nuggets tend to perform weakly in the third. Sure enough the Nuggets performed weakly.

There may well be something going on under the bonnet that evens out the stats over the game.

Overall it doesn't bother me. It's better than having unrealistic stats. I don't think I've played as much as you guys so all the ebbs and flows still feel quite authentic to me. I do get the odd blowout with mismatched teams, yet in blowouts I've still had to deal with shooting slump here and there. I find panicking will let the other team back into the game, but if I just keep playing solid ball then I know my shooting touch will come back.

The game ain't perfect, and the more you play the more you'll become attuned to it's inner workings, but hey, it's still a pretty darn good game
Good posting, especially about panicking getting the other team in. It happens to me on dynasty, where i'm forcing it or being careless and have blown big leads, but i like that, it's more of a challenge. I'm playing on Pro though, with default sliders (i'm new to the game) so maybe that is a reason for me not feeling too bothered right now, also i'm playng with the bulls and dont excpect to win against the better teams anyway.

Cavs blew me out for the first 3 q's, they had like a 19-21 point lead, throughout the 4th i got it down to 5 at best, then i got nervous as i thought i might take the game and stop their 5 game winning streak, obvioulsy this wasnt the case LOL!

But it was a good game and we destroyed Miami in the following game, Marv mentioned in the commentary that if we finished strong in the 4th we'd maybe gain momentum for the next game and we did - excellent stuff.
