Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
Why do you care whether or not EA releases details of it's patch right now? Stepping up means getting issues corrected and quite honestly I don't think there's tons of issues in the first place. By the length of the list of things to be patched in the other game it seems to me like there were more issues in need of being addressed. That list means nothing to me.
I could make a list for LIVE that is longer than that 2K one...not many issues to address? Okay, if you think that...........
Why do I care? I don't overly care to be honest...except that I've paid $180 US for the past 3 NBA Lives (08, 09 and 10) and there's a lot of problems remaining right back to 08. I'm kind of at the point where I'd like them to be addressed.
EA have been very open about wanting people to trust them...asking for support...asking people to spread the word etc.
Well, I've been helpful with that and given some pretty in depth opinions on their game. Now, I'd like to see them say "here's a patch that covers most things".
No "tokenism". Last year was, to be blunt, a tokenary effort.
I am making the comparison because I don't want to hear the same excuses that were given last season when the patch was pretty weak..."we can't fix that in a patch man, next year" was the standard line. Well, here we are "next year" and, yeah, I'd like to see a decent patch. The competition has done it, so let's see EA step up.
You obviously have less expectation...and that's fine.Comment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
2K have announced their patch details...and it's a monster. Covers tonnes of stuff.
http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241487
This is what I am talking about when I say that EA need to step up...that's a LOT of details covered.
I don't see why EA can't have addressed things like time outs in their patch. If you want to compete, you need to step up.
The competion have listed details for a hell of a patch. Let's see EA do the same.
No more "next year fellas"...........Comment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
What we put in this patch, will it work
Will we have to remove something to make it past M$/Sony
When we patch this and that (for example the manual backdown control), how much time do we have to test it
EA gives you a list of things for a patch then later on comes on and says "sorry guys we couldnt keep that in" people on here would freak.
Therefore they are safer in implementing and testing first before that.
We've been talking to these guys, we've seen Mike here and on Twitter talking about testing things like manual backdown, and agility so its just not true to make the notion that theyre not acknowledging uswhen we know thats not true.Comment

If you call this a comparison thread its getting moved into the Basketball other forumComment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
It's not a comparison thread though...more a context. I.e. "if one can do it, let's hope the other can".
So, it probably belongs here.
As per my original post...if we can move back to the original point, can people list anything they know has been confirmed / hasn't been confirmed?
So far, we've got what i originally listed + confirmation that timeouts won't be addressed.
Anything else anyone can add?
(And this is for confirmtation...not for "here's hoping".) Just confirmed things / confirmed not etc.Comment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
What about all the unrealistic deflections and steals? Is this being addressed? You litterally have to walk the ball to the guy you wanna pass it to to keep it from being stolen or deflected which isnt realistic. I can understand not throwing half-court passes but simple passes are being deflected at an alarming rate.Comment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
I hear ya Man, I appreciate company's putting out patches, but your saying EA not covering as much as 2K, but the 2k list is huge, so in reality what does that say for there game testers, I mean that list is huge and I'm happy they are patching that many things, but I question too that why is a game released that needs so much patching.
Let's keep this on LIVE.
Football...I call a play and the CPU guard runs out of bounds. Not an inch, but two feet miles out of bounds.
The CPU often shoots from behind the backboard.
The CPU has an open court...but stands there oblivios to it.
The CPU grabs an ORB...has two of my defenders between it and the basket, but still goes back up.
And i could go on........
Let's not sugarcoat this, NBA LIVE 10 has just as much wrong with it as the 'other' one. Let's hope they address these things. I think the community deserve it.Comment

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
- Player lock not working
- PGs occasionally dribbling out the clock and hoisting one up
- The unnatural windmill dunk and a dunk in the post that Dwight and a couple others could do
-Any issues with player matchups not working
- online fatigue (on = off so ranked games with fatigue on actually have no fatigue)
-Turnaround fadeaway jumpers when you shoot with your back to the basket (namely turnaround 3s that are considered uncontested)
-control over floaters
-probably auto switch to PG after made basket
from twitter
-some form of agility edit/scale (don't know if its front end or back end)
-further tuning of the ballhandling in the paint
-graphics touchup
-"lots of other stuff" "impactful changes"
Personally, I don't think Timeouts needed addressing. If they're going to work on more realistic Timeout timing (i.e. not just addressing runs) then I think they need to add 20 second timeouts at the same time and that doesn't sound like a patch addition.
While the vast majority of off boards result in put back attempts, i have seen the CPU kick out an off board for a shot or reset on occasion. Definitely not cases of always or never.
Like I said, they're not adding anything extra at this point and they're going to post the details when it's close to release. 2K posted details but the patch is still 3 weeks out assuming everything goes as expected with testing and neither game has had smooth testing so we'll see. We know from multiple dev posts and (as you pointed out) the fact that they've been working on the patch build since the demo came out that there are more changes than what we can confirm from posts here.

Re: The patch - what's been confirmed?
What about adding some time in between quarters and stopages in play? After fatigue is fixed, it'll be useless for those of us who manually sub, because there isnt enough time to scroll through the menu.Comment
