Your final thoughts on LIVE 10?

    Happy New Year fellas

Just wondering what your final thoughts on LIVE 10 are, now that the dust has well and truly settled.

I've said this before...but IMO the top 20% of things in this game are the best ever done in an NBA game. The spacing, the half court movement, the play sets, the feel of the controls. They are a class above anything else.

The next 30% of the game is "okay".

But the last 50% of the game is terrible. The lack of animations, the almost amazing lack of rules (no clear path fouls, the wrong team in-bounds after a blocked shot goes out of bounds etc etc), the generic nature of bigs (All bigs taking fadewaways like Dirk)...the almost complete lack of accuracy on player ratings (some haven't been changed for years / others are just completely wrong...)...the amount of generic faces and players...all these things just scream out "lack of attention". IMO this is the key area where these guys fail annually and why people don't switch over to this game.

I really hope Marcus getting moved on doesn't mean this is going to continue as he seemed the only guy there who was interested in fixing this stuff.

Everyone keeps using the word "potential" with this series...but man, that word is getting old. It's been on the next gen systems for five years now. It's getting really old hearing "We'll look at fixing that...next year" over and over.

I really like the 'other game'...but, having played that engine for years now + college hoops, I am definitely ready to change over for a year. I thought this would be it, but the WTF moments + bugs just killed off LIVE's momentum.

I really like PES, but I've switched to FIFA this season as it finally caught up. Competition is good and, in an ideal world, I'll play FIFA one season / PES the next. Both stay fresh that way.

Ideally, that would be perfect for the NBA games also.

LIVE is a hell of a long way behind FIFA though.

I hope they keep Dynamic Season and build on it. I'm just playing one game a week using the Suns and being able to d/l real results + stats is great.

I hope also they keep the "fluid" nature of the game. I hope more animations in LIVE 11 doesn't equal less control.

I really hope they keep the "sim" style direction.

Do you guys see LIVE 11 as the year it jumps into FIFA's class, or is it simply too far behind to ever catch up?

    Your thoughts?

aside from the things you mentioned. the only real thing that stops me from playing this game at the moment, is the fact the cpu will just jack up shots 5 seconds into the shot clock all the time. thats what makes it unplayable for me at the moment

CV you pretty much summed it up as far as how I feel about the game. Personally I'm tired of hearing next year we will take a look at this or that.

It just has so many things missing that is just b-ball fundamentals.

I will give them some credit that it has gotten better but EA has had enough time to get this together. They have used all there excuses up as far as I'm concerned. Peace!!!

I agree with all of the above. It's sad really, there was so much potential with this years game(although i feel i say that every year about the LIVE title).. I think the direction on what they wanna do is on the right track but they just seem to be moving at too slow of a pace to compete against the "the other game"

NBA Live 11 simply MUST add features to preserve the longevity of the game. No excuses on that front.

Gameplay must remove MOST if not ALL of the silly bugs that plague this game.

Innovation.....NBA Live 11 must innovate and do so WELL in order to create a playable game for the entire season.

They did alot of things right this year, but they need to do much better going into next season.

Re: Your final thoughts on LIVE 10?

I really like Live 10 despite its flaws. Overall I still think Live is better and plays more realistic than "the other game." The other game has more layup and dunk animations that looks pretty, but it is a bit of a dunk fest - in the other game it's too easy to score in the paint. I like that Live has REAL body contact in the paint. If you step in front of a guy in the paint, he won't be getting a dunk or a layup - there will be a collision. I love this about Live.

Live's dribbling control is amazing. Live's jump shooting control is also amazing.

The main problem with Live is the ability to hit too many contested 3 pointers. I see these 3 point cheesers online constantly and the 3 point cheese needs to be gone in Live 11. Live's icon passes are too slow and sluggish. The block button in Live is very unresponsive and sluggish, and Live's post up game is nowhere to be found. But despite these flaws, I still think Live plays more realistic and is more enjoyable than "the other game."

If Live addresses these flaws and adds more layup and block animations, then I think Live has a real shot at surpassing the competition. If you look on metacritic.com, Live is rated only 2 points lower than the other game, so you can argue that the two games were dead even this year in terms of reviews.

Re: Your final thoughts on LIVE 10?

I must have some type of magic touch, but much of the gameplay issues folks have, I do not.

Its the only hoops game I own this year, and there is no reason for that to change.

Dynamic Season is like crack to me.

Head to head play with a user who actually has some adult qualities is a blast.

Online play MUST get more responsive and user friendly next season. Especially the online leagues.

There are also a bunch of animations that were great in 09 that were taken out of the game.

                Put them back in please.

There are aspects of the game that are the best that have been done IMO, and others were I they fell short.

Cant have everything in one cycle with new lead developer in year 1 I guess.

This series is on the cusp. I think that is pretty clear to anyone who is even remotely fair/objective.

Well the bigs are much much much better, and getting better with all the new dna updates after second patch; D.How is a beast down there for example, you can see his varying every move in the post without taking any ridiculuos fade away shots.

                    I'm amazed with Live 10 this year;

This game offers defense, rebounding, shooting, passing, dribbling with user control that's what i've been looking for years in bball games.

                    Happy new year to all

THIS game is an unfinished product........... I LOVE IT but thats because i spent 20+ hrs editing and testing.

they work on the cosmetic stuff until ship date and the skeleton of the game gets overlooked THE RATINGS

if live 11 is to have a chance the devs have to play the game in june, play 20 games then add the finishing touches

i fixed the post game but if i told you how i did it ya'll would laugh

Here's what I think needs work:

The way some balls get tipped and stolen is pretty bad. Particularly on in bounds plays. I don't think I've hade one succesful under the basket inbounds. The AI always tips it away out of bounds. I once had it happen 3 times in a row before finally getting the ball in.

Steals themselves need work. I thought it was almost right in the first patch.

The last time I played I had a game with ~115-125 FTs. Needs work inside in both the post play and contact/getting to the lane etc.

A lot of blocks make no sense and you'd never see them in real life. The AI seems to recover from a pump fake a bit too quickly at times as well.

More dunks. Not as in more per game,it's great there's not a lot,I mean the variety of dunks themselves.

While I've blown past people with crossovers I've yet to see them get shook or fall down.

After playing NCAA presentation can be upped.

Overall however it is a very good game. Not as great as initially thought but certianly better than the other one was out of box. (Haven't played it with patches) Easily the best Live in years.
