Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
I agree, I think P-Dub has a great idea. Especially in situations where the devs don't want the situation to shrink the sweet spot but let the player feel the pressure themselves. I'd like vibrations at the line with Vince Carter in the playoffs lolComment

Yes its a great idea especially for late game situations may get kind of annoying in regular gameplay though..Comment

Great to hear clear path fouls have been added in to the game this year.

welcome to the NBA then is what I say if you can't handle the pressure of a big shot then have it as an optional setting I guess.Comment

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
It should'nt be optional since the game is all skilled based, gamers would just have to get them stick skills up.Comment

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
when i play basketball and a guy contests my shot i don't "rumble". however, when i go for a layup and i get bumped i do "rumble". that's why your idea is a bad idea.Comment

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
Good points. I remember a discussion with the devs about how much defensive pressure should shrink the sweet spot during jumpshots. They said if they shrink the sweet spot too much, they are putting "fear" into the virtual player, rather than the user, which goes away from the control being put into the users hands.
With that said, would rumbling during a contest with no contact involved make the shot more difficult? I think so, because it could cause your thumb to move slightly in another direction, losing accuracy. What about the people who immerse themselves in the game and screw their timing up when they see their shot is being contested well? They wouldn't need or like the vibration.
Vibration during any contact is a must, at the bare minimum.Comment

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
Statements like that really scare me about these dev's. Their concept of basketball seems off a little IMO. I've seen the dev's mention this idea of how much affect does contesting the shot really have on the shooter in other threads and the fact they don't think it should reduce the sweet spot much, and it scares me for this game. You talking about the complaints from last year that the defense doesn't matter being even worst. This is looking like it could be a shot stick contest or moving H-O-R-S-E, where the only real defense is blocking the shot. Being that one can't physically block ones view of the basket like a Shane Battier what else will a hand in the face do if it doesn't seriously reduce the sweet spot.Comment

I like the contest idea, although we'd have to try it out and make sure there wasn't too much vibration going on.Comment

rEAnimator: If you are on a fastbreak with Rondo, is there any chance we will see the hard ball fake he does in Elite? jw....If not could it be looked at for next yr?Last edited by mario_2324; 07-04-2010, 02:54 PM.Comment

Re: Ask the devs : Controls (Offense and Defense)
Can you tell us anything about off ball control for this year? Hopefully it's still in the game.
