    What up Monk...

Know what I love? The available moves. Plain and simple...

Remember the T-Wolves first game of the season, when KG hit the game winner? He drove the lane busted a quick STEP-BACK move and drained the shot. I can do that on Live, exactly like he did it in the game. Not a dribble back but a full step back move off the dribble. I LOVE THAT.

Against the Wizards last night Boozer got the entry pass, faked a drop-step, POWER-DRIBBLED to the middle, and tried to two-hand on Kwame. Kwame had good position though, and Boozer took the contact and laid up a soft two hander right at the rim. I can do that on Live. Every step of that sequence, exactly like the real game. I LOVE THAT.

The next time you're watchin' a game, notice how a guy bringing it up deals with pressure. He crouches down, switches hands/directions a couple of times with a careful slow crossover. If the pressure is tight, he shuffles up court with his back to the pressure, using that half-spin to avoid the D. This interaction is in Live. Not in ESPN. In ESPN if the pressure is tight you have to do your fancy little iso-motion thingy or just try a cross court pass because your stuck in place. I LOVE THAT.

When I protct the ball by holding it away from the D (down on the triple-threat), my guy can drop-step from there. If you link that into the hesitation move and then into a step-back J....Its heaven. Pure heaven.

ESPN has the pace, has the graphics, has the rebounding.

Live though...I dont know how else to explain it. Man, its got some irritating flaws but Live allows me to see it on TV and do it on my XBOX. I love that ammount of control. Its like having a brand new box of Crayons and a nice big empty peice of paper, I can create whatever sequence of moves I want. I play as if there are 5-6 people standing around watching, and my job is to make the gameplay look exactly like an NBA broadcast. Live lets me do it. I LOVE THAT.

If its in the game, its in the game....

I used the T-Wolves the day after KG's game-winner, and I tried to hit that shot at the halftime buzzer but missed it. LOL...Maybe next time.

Great descriptions brother...regardless of game, I love hearing of guys enjoying their games like this

Any negatives I have about LIVE are not to be taken as meaning I don't like the game...I do. IMO all the games this year are a BIG step forward on last year.

Those things you talk about in LIVE...i dig those things also. The main reason I am going more with ESPN is simply it has a few more of the things I really like in a simualtion (pace, boarding, post game imo is better as it's less exagerated / harder to just 'slide' back etc)

If I had no ESPN and if ID wasn't coming...would I be happy with just LIVE 04? You bet I would.

ESPN just suits my style better...and what I am after for this season.

ID04 will be the best again for AI...and LIVE is cool...but I am enjoying ESPN for the things it does well also

Player vs. Player is cool in 2K4 because you can run up and down in an arcade-type fashion, throw dunks and alley-oops. But playing against the CPU is another story with the high scores, excessively high rebounding numbers and lack of plays.

About the flaws, I think its pretty much "the good far outweighs the bad" which is why so little time is spent ranting about it in Live '04 as opposed to 2K4.

      Just my opinion though.

actually, offensively and defensively there are things you need to hit buttons to do in Live but are done automatically in ESPN. a normal crossover when pressure is on a guard is one of them. manning up on d is another. both ways are effective, just pointing out that you can't get the results you want in ESPN b/c you're trying to do too much.

True. The difference is that #1, in Live the crossover changes your direction and momentum. In ESPN the change hands animation is just a by-product of which way you're facing. #2. While I like how ESPN implemented the D stance, I'll take the ability to CHOOSE whether I D-up or hold my hands up.

I agree. You can never have too much control of your player, and Live gives you the ability to control basically everything. I was an ESPN guy and when I watched the tutorials for Live I thought they were kind of pointless, and that I would rarely use any of those moves if I played Live. But, I use them all the time.

From, crossing over to change direction or crossing over a guy from a standstill position to get by them, its great. I like how you can crossover from a standstill position and your player kind of hesitates before bringing the ball across his body. You can chose to either complete the crossover, or fake it and go in the direction that the ball is in.

                        Hard to explain.
