    Re: MAN I LOVED LIVE..............

i think that ESPN is a completely beautiful looking game, (im talking graphics, not animations) and i really wanted to like it...i bought it the instant it came out with much anticipation......i played it for 3 or 4 days straight and the one thing that got me, that i couldnt get past, was that each and every game was an exact replica of the game before, albeit with different players....i dont claim to have gotten everything i could have out of the game (i.e. mastering isomotion etc) because i had already become bored gameplay-wise...and thats too bad, because its a pleasure to see players that look exactly like themselves.....i am in no way saying its not a good game, or possibly even an accurate reflection of the current NBA, just simply that it is not the game of choice for me this year

If anyone cares, I will chime in with my opinion, and remember everyone, this is just an opinion.

As Duece pointed out, Live does play the 80's early 90's style of basketball, remember, when basketball was fun, fast paced, and balls to the wall style of playing.

With that said, I believe ESPN is a better simulation of NBA basketball. Would I rather play ESPN, hell no, it just isn't my cup of tea. The animations are horrid, in my opinion, and I like to see teams play like their counterparts. But I do beleive other than those reasons, ESPN plays more realistic NBA pace.

I really do not like the new ISOmotion, and hell, I acheived ISOmotion, took the time to learn the moves, played 24/7, and really played the game for what it is meant to be played, but ISOmotion, is for Iverson, not for the regular point guard, or the fundamental Jason Kidd style point guard. Rafer Alston, ISOmotion, Jason Kidd, Freestyle.

If ESPN had better animations, and replica freestyle instead of ISOmotion, I think I would rather have that game, but it doesn't and I can't handle the animations.

Just my opinion on the matter.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hey guys, I don't know if this is good or bad, but I figured out how to do the Iverson crossover using Freestyle(BTW, I think this is sweet). While dribbling in place, hold the right stick to the left or right. Iverson(or any gaurd with great handles) will go bewteen his legs or behind his back once, then do a hesitation move(!) to the side you're pointing the stick. During the move, he'll also move his body slightly to the side your're pointing the stick.

Now it's up to you. Let's say you pushed the right analogue stick to the LEFT. You can either push the left analogue stick in the same direction you are doing the move, and he'll do the hesitation, quick step explosive move left, or you can push the left stick to go in the opposite direction, and he'll do the hesitation crossover move. It doesn't always get you past your defender (although Iverson can get by people more than others, as it should be) but it's a great move, and even works if you're being "bumped" around, with your back to the defender. As soon as you push the stick right or left, he'll turn and face up, starting the hesitation move.

Now, I would love to test this against a human opponent, to see if he can draw a charge after I've gone left or right. I already know that the CPU can still stay in front of me despite the move; It's not "money" by any means, just cool as hell to pull off when I do it right =)

Also, I don't know how you guys are doing, but when I'm doing moves, either in the post or on the perimeter, I sometimes don't notice when my defender has fallen for a fake. I know I could take advantage of this situation, but I don't always catch it. I guess that would be taking my game to the next level. Does anyone know if the defender's defensive awareness has anything to do with falling for a fake? I mean, besides slider adjustments. If it doesn't, it really should. Great defenders should fall for fakes less, and I should have to worry about who's gaurding whom from that standpoint...

How are the animations horrible? I keep hearing people say that they're are horrible and robotic but nobody actually explains what they're talking about.

Jmood, to me they just look really stiff, and looks scripted. They just don't look smooth, and don't really transition from one move to another fluidly. The shooting animation from some angles just looks weird, but from some views it looks fine, and the dunking animations, and the dunk sequences, as well as the foul animation, where the guy is in the air, and just completely gets mauled, just really look bad to me. If they were more fluid, and beleivable, it would be great, cause the graphics are there, and the pace is there. The only thing it is missing is IMO a good dribble system (ALA freestyle), 2k2 Post up system, and more fluid animations, this game would be unbelievable. But until these things are implemented, I can't bring myself to play it. Don't get me wrong, the game is not bad, just not my cup of tea this year.
