Ho, hey, whoa, slowup a little. I never said ESPN was the way the NBA is depicted. Reason being I never played it.

I honestly dont know how ESPN's off the ball movement is. The one thing I do know is that the OTB in Live combined with the vast number of animations are what make the game so fun. IMO of course.

OK, OK! it's true. ESPN does play more like the current NBA. alot of isolations, little ball movement, poor, poor shooters. which leads to boring games. LIVE 2004 plays very much like 80's NBA, with alot of running, movement in a half court set, &amp; good defense. i'm a big fan of the 80's NBA. the games were very enjoyable and that why's the rating and popularity of the game improved each year...

Very true. LIVE is more fun for that reason.

ESPN is a better sim of the current NBA though...and, unltimately, that's what I want for my 2004 season

The games aren't boring...not if you enjoy the current NBA.

The game has evolved, so a sim should reflect that.

Either way is cool though

Monkey, I think your being a little bias. Your main concern before ESPN was released was if teams played like themselves, and if there was off the ball movement.

Now that you see the AI isn't much different from last year, your saying that its not bad because it plays more like the NBA??? What happened to teams playing like themselves, or how you wanted players like Bowen to run to the corner for three pointers???




I also think IsoMotion is far from NBA ball. You NEVER see Kidd take his man off the dribble using dribble moves from a stand still position. You can easily mimic Iversons style of play with IsoMotion, but you can't mimic the styles of other ball handlers like Kidd or a mediocre PG like Alvin Williams.

With freestyle, you can because you have the option to do a simple crossover, go behind your back etc..... I think thats were Live plays a more realistic game, among other things.

If anyone cares, I will chime in with my opinion, and remember everyone, this is just an opinion.

As Duece pointed out, Live does play the 80's early 90's style of basketball, remember, when basketball was fun, fast paced, and balls to the wall style of playing.

With that said, I believe ESPN is a better simulation of NBA basketball. Would I rather play ESPN, hell no, it just isn't my cup of tea. The animations are horrid, in my opinion, and I like to see teams play like their counterparts. But I do beleive other than those reasons, ESPN plays more realistic NBA pace.

I really do not like the new ISOmotion, and hell, I acheived ISOmotion, took the time to learn the moves, played 24/7, and really played the game for what it is meant to be played, but ISOmotion, is for Iverson, not for the regular point guard, or the fundamental Jason Kidd style point guard. Rafer Alston, ISOmotion, Jason Kidd, Freestyle.

If ESPN had better animations, and replica freestyle instead of ISOmotion, I think I would rather have that game, but it doesn't and I can't handle the animations.

Just my opinion on the matter.

i think that ESPN is a completely beautiful looking game, (im talking graphics, not animations) and i really wanted to like it...i bought it the instant it came out with much anticipation......i played it for 3 or 4 days straight and the one thing that got me, that i couldnt get past, was that each and every game was an exact replica of the game before, albeit with different players....i dont claim to have gotten everything i could have out of the game (i.e. mastering isomotion etc) because i had already become bored gameplay-wise...and thats too bad, because its a pleasure to see players that look exactly like themselves.....i am in no way saying its not a good game, or possibly even an accurate reflection of the current NBA, just simply that it is not the game of choice for me this year
