Ludacris, I don't know what you are trying to prove by this statement:

The people that complain about ESPN are the same ones who get beat night in and night out by the computer. Thats why they switch to the easier game.

But you are totally mistaken. I can constantly win a good percentage of the games in ESPN. Maybe the reason why I go with Live, is because it is a completely different experience every game. I respect the fact that you like ESPN, because it is a good game, but to come in here with a post like that, is just well, ludacris. Some of us here at OS are old enough to remember the glory days of the NBA and really miss the style of play, which Live does a great job of replicating, all the while still playing to teams tendencies. That is why some of us would rather play Live or Inside Drive.

You must be confused with the demo cuz ESPN NBA Basketball is the G.O.A.T of Basketball games untill 2k5. (Cant wait)

Yall must be too lazy to adjust sliders or somthin.
Dallas will bomb you with treys
Lakers will play like the Lakers
Lebron and Melo play like thier real life counterparts
    Detroit will play crazy D

Its incredible what you do with the sliders on this game. ESPN captures the feel of NBA Basketball right off the bat. No1 wins shaking up everyone with crossovers. No1 wins doing dunks all day eaither.

Tell me, how is Live a deffrent exp. every time you play? You see a new crossover or somthin?

I thought Live was too easy. Picked it up and shot it right in the garbage can, 2 pts for luda. I picked it up later to sell it to Game Stop.

I huge turnoff was the fact that you can abuse the prohop and there is two buttons fo dunking and shooting. Im like wtf? Graphics are wack. Gameplay is a snore. Players move too much and clutters up the court. Maybe if they fixed the graphics and add some space to the court, it can catch up to NBA 2k2 I mean 2k1.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

im as big a fan of 2k as anybody...we all know we've been playing live since '95...so your statements bring nothing to the construction site that hasnt been drilled in already

My guess is you haven't played LIVE...and if so, you haven't played it enough to talk about it. Comments like these aint helping anyone

As I said, I prefer ESPN and I've played them both a tonne...but both have a lot going for them, particularly after sliders. All 3 games getting better each year is good for everyone...

Monkey, are we going to get a review of 2K4 from you in the ESPN forum?

I would really like to hear what you have to say about it and what positives you find in the game.

I've played 2K4 a bunch now and it has gotten to be better than when I first played it.

That being said, I still feel that it's an overall disappointing game from what I feel should be in the game.

The graphics aren't as horrible (my first impression of the player models were that they were "alien-like") as when I first played it. The movement off the ball is there, although only about 3 out of 5 times in a halfcourt set. I won't get into the complaints that I have about 2K4 since they're well known.

I'd like to know when you saw the Lakers running a Triangle when a Triangle (Inside or Sideline) is not even a play in any playbook.

You've commented about 2K4 in the Live forum, I just wanted to know if you could get a little more in-depth in the ESPN forum.

Yeah, I'm liking ESPN NBA Basketball better now, when I stop looking for flaws. But sometimes, they are just too glaring not to notice. For instance, there are quite a few times when the ball goes through the basket, and it's not even recognized and the play continues. So the score doesn't change at all, and the play keeps going. Happens quite a bit during rebounding battles, I've found.

Shaq defintely came to the top of the key and guys cut off him...so I presumed it's a variant of the triangle. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

The debate...and it's been a good one...has largely taken place here. Thus my comments.

3 out of 5 times is about perfect IMO if we are talking 'sim' of the NBA.

I'm sorry if it's out of place to comment about ESPN in the LIVE forum...but it's difficult not to compare both games.

I really feel the LIVE crew though are cutting that game way, way more slack. The rocket passing, complete lack of rebounding AI (sorry, it's horrible) etc doesn't seem to rate much comment.

Against that, it's got a tonne of good things going for it...which I've commented on and praised.

Conversely, ESPN gets hammered for every flaw...and I agree with you, it's not as good as it could / should have been. Maybe a lot of what is good about it is taken for granted though...

I guess this all has to do with expectation?

I'll try and write up a review this week...not sure there's a lot left to be said though

Oh no, I figured that you're seeing something in 2K4 that I'm just not seeing, and just not noticing. Something in 2K4 that would make me want to keep playing it game after game. I haven't seen it.

Player vs. Player is cool in 2K4 because you can run up and down in an arcade-type fashion, throw dunks and alley-oops. But playing against the CPU is another story with the high scores, excessively high rebounding numbers and lack of plays.

About the flaws, I think its pretty much "the good far outweighs the bad" which is why so little time is spent ranting about it in Live '04 as opposed to 2K4.

                              Just my opinion though.
