2k4 did have authentic shoes but for some reason the players didn't have them on. If you created a player they had the iversons and the tmac 2's.

maybe you didnt mean it this way. but heres how i see what yourew saying... they CREATED this???

They just had the money to implement the shoes, and the extra free time that they dont spend on graphics, is so they can deal with the PR people and the money situation with the shoe companies... if anything its a not really something they created. It can easily be a part of any game, if money isnt an issue.

If i recaly correctly the 2k2 series was the first to implement the directional crossover. you press square and a direction and he goes that direction.

they complaint each other but i dont give either really any GENUINE CREDIT for their so called accomplishments in many departments.

"oh....live had throwbacks and authentics" WTF is espn or anyother company for that matter supposed to do or say.. they arent really copying them. It is the ONLY option.. Throwbacks are throwbacks and shoes are shoes,

NBA 2k3 had the ability to change your shot in mid air from a layup. Of course changing jumpers midair wasn't going to be far off. Also, Live implemented sliders into 2004 after all the praise Sega got for having them in 2k3, while Live that year was nearly unplayable for us sim-heads.

That said, why does this even matter? Who really cares who copied what? Good ideas will ALWAYS be copied in EVERY industry so long as patents or copyrights don't prevent the competition from doing so, and it's great. This helps progress the basketball titles I love to play forward. I don't care who copies who, all I care about is that one basketball relase this year is fun to me and is attempting to simulate real basketball as much as it can.

Dwelling on something as silly as who originally implemented what feature is pointless, and a complete waste of time.

Who cares, play the game you like. Why do you bother to make threads that are bashing espn?

I saw your thread about creating shoes in espn 2k5...sounded like an attempt to bash espn.

I'm not a fanboy of either games, but I hope at least espn has turned it around to be a good game again. Live last year was great, except it's 10-man mocap had so many bugs and problems, and if they have fixed it this year, it's going to be a good game.

Which game was better last year? Who cares? I thought they both were unplayable. The 2005 games are almost upon us and some people still feel the need to argue about the 2004 games. I find it quite amusing. Play both games hopefully one or both will appeal to you, if you're lucky enough to get enjoyment out of one of the games then you can forget the other game even exists for a whole year. I liked College Hoops so much last year that I never even thought about March Madness-it was dead to me.

lol dont forget that last year... last YEAR.. was the first year for authentic arenas or at least semi authentic arenas for live. games like inside drive for pc, 2000 edition, had them in.

not a big deal.. just another example how competition is a great thing when it motivates others to actually implement "new" and great things to each brand of game.

I disagree, you don't know what you're talking about. Live did not create changing shots mid air. 2K3 actually had that before Live, and from memory, the first game to ever have it was the Konami arcade game Run'n'Gun. Later followed up with their console cousin NBA In The Zone, which actually had a lot of stuff finally being used, like mid air collisions, jump passes (still some of the best pass animations ever and they were all hand drawn), dunk comp, fancy dribbles, and as I mentioned, controllable mid-air shot adjustments. I've still got the game if anyone needs (captured) video proof.

And I think even the original NBA 2K (5 or so years ago?) had real sneakers, at least reebok. (maybe I'm wrong there and they just looked similar...)
