Calbert Cheaney has a zero 3-point rating. He was 0-10 for three pointers last season which is why he got the rating but he has hit more than enough 3-pointers over the course of his career to prove that he can hit the shot.
He's not really a good 3 point shooter, though he can hit it, but they can't give him 0 because his shot is the 20 foot jumper, how can you use him without that?

1st, we ultimately pay these guys to do this stuff for us. So we have every right to complain when they seem to be doing a worse job than we ourselves could. Further, no one plays me for the hours of work trying to straighten out this ish.

2nd, your attitude is crap. I don't appreciate being called a "bytch". There's this prevailant "bend over and take it" attitude on these forums that often bothers me. Probably a result of their being little competition in the market (a la the doldrum Madden's), and I suspect it's only going to get worse.

Maybe they have two people doing the ratings? One that uses the 3pt settting determines shot range paradigm, and another that uses a 3pt rating is how well they shoot behind the arc paradigm? Or maybe they have some serious problems aligning the input for their attributes (the season box scores) with the actual functionality of such ratings in game?

Whatever the case, this is an example of why this is a big deal -- it's not just little minute changes to the hot-shots based on your preferences, it's pretty screwed up from roster spot 1-12 and that means alot of work. If I had just opened the box and started playing, I'm sure at some point I'd be like "WTF, Cheaney can't hit anything at all?"

Well I'm going to be doing every player I see problems with [basically every player in the league], takes time, but I've already done most from last year so s'all good. I know most people don't want to edit every single player, that's where the problem is, and when you make the ratings realistic, it messes up the team ratings, which is what I feel is the reason for the garbage ratings.

They want the team ratings to be correct, so they kill individual ratings.

I'll see what Grn is doing, I had common talk with him on the EA boards, and I did ratings at NLSC, but he doesn't like doing the garbage players [who does really].

They should just hire someone from a website that does this, seriously, because they do it so badly....again though, I think it comes down to team ratings. That's why they have to make chemistry, coaching etc affect team ratings.

Yeah, there's definitely some maneuvering to fit in with team ratings. I've messed with the rosters to get them similar to this seasons (in live 04) and man are the team ratings fubared. I haven't double checked, but I think if I cut scrub players from some teams (without replacing them), the teams actually got better?!

Yea, I was just about to mention that myself. In Live 04, if you have a team with only 8 players on it, you can get team overall ratings in the 90's. Part of what may be causing this problem is that to determine overall ratings, they take the average from all the players on the team and calculate what they call a "raw score" and assign overall rating from there. The old "Offense", "Rebounding", "Ball Control", and "Defense" categories that they used to have in the game are also actually still there, but theyre only in the databases now. Check teams.dbf.

What is wrong with taking averages is...say you have a team of 8 players that average 75 overall. Now you add a player that has a 70 overall rating (which is quite good). In real life, your team would more than likely get better because it would be adding more depth. In the game though, the team overall rating goes down because the average is lower.

Bottom line...dont trust the team overall rating unless all the teams have the same amount of players.

                              PRIMACY:

                              Shaq - 95
                              Kobe - 99

                              Garnett...79!
